Again so strange how defensively oriented franchisaes have this odd tendency to acquire shotblockers.
And the Bucks are a powerhouse team that dominates the defensive paint right?
Oh wait.

Yeah, nudge me when my pessimism isn't warranted. I've been around here a LONG time. Long enough that there was a time when I often got accused of being a homer and not realizes how bad we had it being stuck with bums like Webber and Adelman. You will find my "ism" of the moment has generally tracked nicely with the fortunes of the team.

I generally agree with 99.9% of your posts, but I think you're getting a little grumpy with old age.
Brick, my advice is to relax for tonight. People aren't going to want to analyse team needs properly until the adrenaline has subsided and expectations come back to reality.
I like the pick, but the reality is that our roster does not fit at the moment. It's a legitimate criticism that we haven't adressed any needs. I'm glad we took Robinson, but more moves need to be made. We can't continue ignoring shot-blocking and defense in general. We certainly have a talented enough core, but now we need to be smart and get in our defensive role-players and vets. Do this and we are certainly competing for a PO spot. It's a lot to ask as of now, however, and I'm not sure I have faith in GP to pull off the necessary moves.
With the addition of Robinson, trading Thornton becomes much more easy. Robinson won't demand 20 shots a game, but he can score some. Even with a dropoff from trading Thornton for defense, we'll still score enough. Scoring has not been the problem. It's stopping the other team. We won't be respectable as a team until we seriously address defense.
IT and T Rob are defensive question marks due to size. I have never seen a good defensive team without some sort of shotblocking presence.IT/Evans/TWILL(?)/Robinson/Cousins
This is the start of a VERY nice defensive team.
Much better defensively than;
IT/MT/Evans/JT/Cousins

FFS. Bucks now have Daly and Henson.

The difficulty here is that you only have so many minutes/so much money to do it. People never think about that, but its the whole key to building a team. On several occasions in the past Petrie has seemed to acquire a "shotblocker"on the cheap...and then park him on the bench behind 3-4 other guys who are going to get more minutes. Which means you have no shotblocer at all and its all for show.
I said before the draft that if you're building a reasonable team, that you take TRob, there proably no longer is room fro JT. And I happen to like JT as a third big. But not when that third big has to be your rim protector. Just having a rim protector on the roster buried down behind Cousins, TRob, JT etc. doesn't help you in the least. He can't block a shot from the bench. You need that guy to get 20-25min+. With TRob in town, those 20-25min would be Jason's.

I wonder what they do with Dally.
If they don't use him a lot, it will end up being a terrible trade for them.
They could of had Jeremy Lamb with the 12th pick.

Miami Heat, 2012 NBA Champions.
IT and T-Rob are not and won't be defensive liabilities. If anything, they're the best defensive players on the team
Bron D Wade....Stupid comparison.Miami Heat, 2012 NBA Champions.
