Draft positioning thread

As long as the Kings come out of this draft no worse than Terrence Jones, I'm cool with that. I think Jones is highly underrated, and if we end up with the 8th or 9th pick, I'd be happy to reach for him there.

tired for third. can't believe cleveland won tonight. hopefully we can woss all the way to the end

This is a bittersweet time. Nobody is better than tanking when the season is a wash than the Kings. I am sad for obvious reasons, however, I am happy because the draft positioning keeps getting better, (if the lottery doesn't mess the team over again)

The trouble with this whole plan to have the worst record in the league is that it is unlear what it gets us. We got a ROY. We have another who is contending for ROY. We have an all world center. We have some other decent parts. We also have owners who are not willing to pay for a coach and no matter how good the players, they are youngsters and without adequate coaching, will lose. Then are we to go through this whole routine again? At some point we must face reality and the reality is that it isn't the young players who will make us win; it is the coach and FO. It also is a willingness to pay for free agents. That will does not exist.

If the owners are gone soon, it can still work.

Charlotte is coming alive for one simple reason - if they lose all their remaining games they will set new worst record in NBA history. Sixers' 9 out of 82 is .109 winning percentage. Charlotte's 7 out of 66 would be .106.
They have two winnable games - at home vs Kings and away game at DC.
P.S. Cavs have another very winnable game since it's a home game versus Wizards. So now my 3-way tie is not most likely. Hornets have no home games left and only one winnable away game at Oakland. It will be a tie for 3rd between NOH and Kings.

In the 4th last night the Cavs started to understand the mistake they've made, and practically left Kyrie and the other starters on the bench hoping to Knicks could make a comeback(they almost did) and steal a W.

Lucky for us that didn't work cause the Knicks flat out sucked though :D

WE MUST LOOSE TO THE LAKERS AT HOME - this is just a top top priority. I can't see us being even close to loosing to the Bobcats and consider it a sure win - but that Lakers game can royally screw up all our tanking season if we get a "moral victory" like idiots.

Cavs got the Wizards at home - if they play all their guys with Kyrie etc again this seems like a W as much as our Bobcats one is.

New Orleans play the Warriors away - the way the Warriors tank, and knowing a win for them could go from having 70-80% keeping their pick to having 10% of doing so - combined with Eric Gordon back gunning for that max contract next year - is enough to think it's also a surefire W for them.

So if all 3 of us win the games we SHOULD BE winning on paper against the weak opponents - we should be looking at a 2-way tie between us and the Hornets for the 3rd worst spot.

A win against the Lakers at the final game of the season could mean us going from a likely 2-way tie for the 3rd worst spot with the Hornets with 21 wins each - straight to a possible 4 way tie for the 4th worst spot with Cleveland, Toronto and Golden State with 22 wins each.

How I'm starting to feel. Team culture sucks. Magoofs have poisoned the franchise with their bafoonery. I'm pretty sure GP's faults arnt from his hands being tied by broke owners, but from him not giving a **** because of broke owners. The coaching here has been a joke. Reke's lack of development isnt all on Reke.

If we get a top 2 pick, Magoofs better be calling Sloan or McMillan.

Or Burkle. If winning the lottery wouldn't bring the franchise's sale price up enough to satisfy the Maloofs, nothing will.

Conspiracy theory time! If Stern thinks a winning lottery ticket would rid himself of the Maloofs forever and get the new arena in Sacramento that the NBA spent a year negotiating for, this might be the year he rigs the lottery in our favor! We just have a new owner in New Orleans and the start of professional basketball in Brooklyn to compete with for "best storyline" and he already gave NO an All-Star game so we're sitting pretty!

id say it would work against us. A lottery win would bring us more national attention and get us even more competitive at a low cost.

The maloofs are willing to squeeze as much as they can out of this investment and it will only help them to do so.

On the flip side; a bad product which affects attendance only helps them in their bid for relocation

A woss is a win that is really a loss.
A lin is a loss that is really a win.

I personally hate the terms but if you're gonna use them, at least don't confuse people more by not using them correctly. :)

Rule number 5: Never purposefully lose to the Lakers.

Washington pulled off a miracle win today against a Heat team without LeBron, Bosh, and three quarters of Wade, so they haven't yet seized sole possession of the #2 slot. New Jersey and Golden State, on the other hand, held serve by not winning, so with only three games to go we've still got a tremendously large potential draft range.

Tomorrow we face the Bobcats, losers of 19 straight. Even we are not bad enough to lose to the Bobcats, so expect the waters to remain just as muddy tomorrow. On top of that there are four more interesting games. Perhaps the most interesting is Detroit hosting Toronto - somebody has to win, and we will guaranteed pick up lotto combos tomorrow! Golden State travels to Minnesota where they will try to cling to a top-7 spot to keep their pick this year - don't count on GS even accidentally winning a game for the duration. Cleveland travels to San Antonio, so good luck on that one. Finally, New Orleans heads to Staples to take on the Clippers. All in all, I don't think we'll have any "luck" outside of the Detroit-Toronto match, but in a best-case scenario we could clinch a three-way tie for fourth.

Kings record: 20-43
Kings max wins: 23
Possible lottery position: t2-t9
Minimum lottery combos: 22
Possible draft range: 1-12
Current Competition (teams in red will finish below us):
1. Charlotte Bobcats (7-54)
2. Washington Wizards (17-46, 3 remaining, 2 against teams under .500, 2 at home)
t3. New Orleans Hornets (20-43, 3 remaining, 1 against teams under .500, 0 at home)
t3. Sacramento Kings (20-43, 3 remaining, 1 against teams under .500, 1 at home)
5. Cleveland Cavaliers (21-41, 4 remaining, 1 against teams under .500, 1 at home)
6. Golden State Warriors (22-40, 4 remaining, 2 against teams under .500, 2 at home)
7. Toronto Raptors (22-41, 3 remaining, 3 against teams under .500, 1 at home)
8. New Jersey Nets (22-42, 2 remaining, 1 against teams under .500, 1 at home)
9. Detroit Pistons (23-40, 3 remaining, 1 against teams under .500, 2 at home)

I'm looking at the draft lotteries of the past. I didn't realize the Magic won the 1992 lottery with the 2nd worst record, picked shaq...then won it AGAIN in 1993 with a 41-41 record and the 11th worst record and picked Chris Webber, who they traded to GS. Two wins in a row and picking two all time greats, are you kidding me...what luck.

I want to see lots of Hayes, Honeycutt, Outlaw, Greene, and Cisco today! We really need to find a way to lin this game today!!!!!

Toronto's up at the half, but I'm happy to not be watching that trainwreck. Score: 34-29. Those 94-109 Kings losses must have been riveting by comparison.
