No that’s was the concern from the NBA people I talked to. I’m hoping he does better but it’s a valid concern.

Bro look what you just typed... They were 15 games better with Amare over those two seasons. +8 games in 05 and +7 games in 07. Then, just to drive the point home as to his value, they lost another 14 games with him in 2010.

What we did in the draft previously is irrelevant to what we need today. Water under the bridge.
No difference in playoff succes with or without him, still easily +50 win team without Amare. To me that proves that Nash is the major force behind that team with Marion and Amare helping
I think he's got the lateral quickness to guard the KD, George, Kawhi, etc. He's not going to be able to guard SG/SF wings, but he'll be fine guarding legitimate SFs.
Unless we assume this Fo is so ass at drafting that we dont need to even think about last drafts, our heavy investments in one position should count on something especially if its the least "valuable" position

They are all opinions. No one was a sure thing in this draft, including Ayton and Luka. A number had some transcendent generational attributes but areas of real concern.
In our case we doubled down on athletic guys who don’t play great defense. Let’s hope Fox and Bagely grow together.

I don't know about that. He looks like Kevon Looney to me and he didn't fair that well guarding wings either.

One thing I'll say about athletic guys who aren't great at defense, though, is that they already have the advantage to get better, easier due to their gifted athleticism.
Plus the current NBA, it's more about team defense.

Dude Amare was single handedly worth 29 wins over those three seasons. If a guy is worth almost ten wins a season that's huge. Nash was the best player on that team, no doubt about it. We're talking about the value of Amare though as he compares well to Bagley. 10 wins a year is huge.

Skal and WCS have had multiple years. And a long athletic big is not a least valuable position. All depends if his shooting develops. Sounds a lot like Fox doesn’t it.

I'm going to interject with a neutral comment here... for whatever reasons, the number crunchers liked Bagley a lot. I don't know how much to expect from their data sets and methods yet, but I found that interesting, and I wouldn't be shocked if it influenced this draft, and Sac's pick in particular.
