RealGM Radio: Doug Christie Considering An NBA Comeback1st June, 2006 - 1:15 pm
RealGM Radio - Yesterday, RealGM Radio interviewed Doug and Jackie Christie, a couple often scrutinized by the media, about jackiechristie.com, the couple's all-purpose website.

The interview touched on Christie's playing days, the couple's relationship, how Mrs. Christie was portrayed by the media and the couple's website.

Christie is a former NBA player who played for several teams over the course of his career, primarily the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings .

At age 36, the defensive-minded Christie is contemplating an NBA comeback and has been working hard to get back into game shape.

"Right now I’m just working out and making sure that I just stay in shape and I’m going to weigh the options as the season approaches and see what happens," Christie told RealGM Radio. "I’m feeling pretty good, a lot better that I did than the last time I was out on the court and I’m just trying to make sure that when I step out on the court that I can play the way that I want to play."

I just saw this as well... let's sign him up! He will likely play for the minimum and is a great defender... seems like he would fit into the new Kings system to me.

he would but as it is right now we are stacked at SG... where would he play? backup pg? he can handle the ball very well

I'd be fine with him coming back, but in a limited role or as a third guy. Not as a back-up in front of Garcia or Martin or the back-up PG (whoever that'll be). He'd be a great vet to have on the team for Garcia/Martin/Price, and in the locker room/huddles. I think he'd be a good assistant coach also.

If he was used in the role of third PG/SG, I would be fine with it.

IF he in any way took ANY playing time away from Garcia/Martin/Backup PG (Unless its still J. Hart) I would be 100% against it.

The back-up PG is a question mark right now. I think it'll be someone new.

But on Doug, his experience in the league, leadership ability, ball handling and passing abilitlies would be worth him being a third guy and a role-player on the team.

My days just keep getting better and better! :D That would be awesome if he could come back a King (better yet a Sixer, along side of CWebb + Sixers could really use him defensively). I really don't care where he goes, as long as he comes back healthy and happy!

I don't see Doug coming back to the Sacramento Kings for a variety of reasons, but I wish him well wherever he ends up.

Don't do it Doug. Let us remember you how you were. Doug will get back on the court and make a fool of himself. He'll be a shelf of himself. He was starting to become that way in his last year with the Kings. He won't be able to keep up with these young quick guy's on defense. It's not his fault, it's nature.

His foot may be good now, but he'll probably just mess it up again eventually from the rigors of the NBA.

eh.... anything is better than hart...
Doug wasn't a point. He's a 2 guard. He can run point as far as ball handling skills, but he's not a point guard. So, that wouldn't fix our back up point guard position. He's a shooting guard that can't shoot very well. That was always Doug's weakness.

The back-up PG probably won't be Hart, and especially Doug. If I had the choice of a third swingman, it'd be Greg Buckner. Guy is a team player and can do a bunch of things for any team. Doug, I'd be fine with, but who knows where he ends up.

I'd really like to see Doug back in the NBA. It's very good news if he does, although I sort of doubt that he will return to the Kings (which I do).. I'd like to see him play anywhere. Some teams would find him very handy.

CWebb can opt out of his contract this summer. That'd be cool if we did and he signed with us. It's probably not happening but I'd love to be able to bring CWebb, Doug, and Bobby all off the bench and see them finally win rings.

Time to move on. I love Doug and hope to see him back playing again, he could help out a lot of teams. I see him back with the Lakers. Or maybe San Antonio.

I say make him an assistant coach- I love Doug- but his times as a player are over, and i know alot of people want him back but he wouldnt even be a glimmer of the defensive image he once was. Let him go out as we remember him. I hope he dosent come back as a player- sorry I know alot of people will dissagree with me on this.

Probably not happening? C'mon, I would personally smack CWebb upside the head if he opted out of that contract. That would be silly. :D

CWebb would never agree to come off the bench.

Chris Webber is not going to opt out of a contract that will give him around $20 mill. Chris Webber is not going to sign with the Kings again. Chris Webber is not going to come off the bench.

You can take each of those to the bank.

I would rather sign BJAX to play back up PG then Doug. BJAX is already back in town and will be working out in the Kings summer league. He is a free agent and said today on 1140, we would never go back to Memphis. He couldn't stand coach Fratello.
