Does the Lakers-Kings rivalry still exist?

well as long as the fans of each team hate each other .... i would say who cares if the players hate each other... its a rivarly... plus i know Bibby still remembers what happened and so does Kobe... so ta da ... its a rivarly... and throw in the fact that Artest and Kobe trade shots in the media and on the court ... ta da ... its a rivarly... yeah there different teams now ... but their in the same division... blah blah blah ok you get the point ... Bonzi Wells figure it out ! ! !
i think so. esp with ron ron on the team. Kings- Laker games now have a him vs kobe dimension to it. and plus they finished 7th and we finished 8th last year and the difference was one game - so it would appear that the kings and lakers are evenlly matched and competing at similar levels.
though mind you it might not be as intense as before seeing as both teams arent good enough to properly compete for a championship

is it at the height it once was? NO... but the fans still hate each other guts so a spark is still there...

In my are eyes rivalries are born between teams that meet consecutively in the playoffs and die when that discontinues.

Even in their diminished state, they still get a rise out of me. I think Kobe has a lot to do with that, though. If he weren't there, I'm not sure I could get my eire up for them (unless it were a playoff series).
Players come and go. Fans dictate rivalries.

Someone should make a poll! I think it does, not nearly to the degree that it did, but nothing that a playoff matchup or two wouldn't solve. You know big-mouth Jackson would say something to kick the rivalry into a higher gear if we met in the playoffs...

My brother in law, who was born and raised in sc la, does not think it is anywhere close to where it was, and I must agree with that. What used to be a long conversation of comparing teams is now a general discussion that trails off to other topics. In order to make this a full fledged rivalry again,( not supporting violence) something ala christie or a long playoff series would really help.

I think it still exists but its not as hardcore as it used to be. Both teams were elite back than and were on the top. Now both teams are trying to rebuild and make it to the playoffs to the playoffs at the same time.
Hopefully never; that would require the Lakers to actually get to the playoffs...
I want the Lakers to break our record of losing seasons. Seeing them firmly entrenched in perpetual futility would make me much happier than beating them in the playoffs.

Umm...who knows? Maybe we will both surprise the league this year and matchup as 4-5 seeds. Us being the 4 seed of course.

As long as piksi's around, the rivalry lives. It may become less intense but for me anyway, it will never die.
I meant consecutively. They don't have to match the sum total, not immediately, anyway; a nice sixteen-year losing streak will do me just fine.

Well if the Lakers have 22 losing seasons straight we'll be tied. Theres hope for that right?

As much as I enjoyed watching the Kings beat them (note I will not utter that word without the ability to preface it with the appropriate adverb) It really ticked me off seeing so many #8 jersey's at ARCO. I think we should start a fund to pay bounty for the scalps (or ears and tails) of anyone wearing that trash!!
As for the rivalry, I want to lop off Phil's head and turn it into a cowbell!! Does that count??
