DeVon Hardin

we draft Julian Wright at 10 and get a 2nd pick and get DeVon Hardin dude lives on the boards hes a legit 6'11" shot blocker.

from draft express:

"No one will ever question Hardin’s natural physical tools. A legit 6-11, he has a frame reminiscent of Dwight Howard at the same age. His wingspan is imposing and his athleticism all you could ask for from a player his size. Hardin runs the floor extremely well when committed and is able to get off the ground with ease and challenge anyone that dares step inside the paint. Once he gets the ball inside the paint, he bounces off the floor in the blink of an eye to throw down some extremely impressive dunks. He’s a graceful athlete with difference-making potential thanks to his fantastic explosiveness"

a Jwill/Jwright/DH looks pretty nice to me.

that last part sounds sweet. it'd be great to have a group of young bigs to just hold down the paint. just seeing how Justin Williams got double doubles on effort alone was awesome. having DH, who sounds kinda like JWill would do so much to our rebounding and shotblocking

I was really unimpressed with him when I watched him play this year. He doesn't even really look all that athletic to me, and his motor is suspect.

Larry Legend cherry picked that assessment above, here's some of the rest from Draft Express from the same article:

he problem is, you’d expect him to do a lot more with all the tools he has at his disposal. From what we saw in Alaska, he is still very much a work in progress and probably wouldn’t be considered anything more than a marginal D-League player if he were to be drafted right now.

The main concern is the fact that he’s just not always very active, looking hesitant and tentative at best and lazy and uninspired at worst. He’s very robotic in his movements and is limited offensively to the point that he just doesn’t look for the basket at all. When he does, he often struggles with his decision making, particularly in terms of trying to do things that he’s just not capable of, as well as passing out of double teams, as his 1 to 4 assist to turnover ratio might indicate. He’s had no problem deferring to his much less heralded frontcourt mate Ryan Anderson, just a freshman, and it doesn’t look like that is going to change anytime soon from what we’ve seen early on.

Doesn't have Ben's motor - not even close and he's not exactly a bright guy on the court. He will NOT be Ben Wallace.

i went to Cal and saw him play...he's got potential and let's just describe his value with the P word (potential). he's could be pretty good because he's got the nba body and he's more athlete than a majority of current nba big men...but he's raw but he's definitely worth a shot...but he's not lock like julian wright is...if someone like wright is there, you have to go with him

He's going back to school. I think he has a lot of potential. Very athletic. We could have used him last year. Maybe next year we can nab him.

First, I dont want to draft Julian Wright, I think we would be better taking some of the other guys who should be there.

Next, I think Hardin has the chance to be a pretty good player, but I wouldnt use a 1st round pick on him.
