Okay, for those of you who didn't vote for all four matchups, was that intentional? Eight people have voted so far, but only seven people voted on the (1) vs. (8) matchup, and only seven people voted on the (4) vs. (5) matchup.

Yes... too close to call for me, so I didn't vote.

Hope it doesn't throw off your tallies too much. If you'd prefer I can just pick one to make it easier.

I'll get back to you if it ends up tied.

EDIT - Although, given the way the vocal sentiment has gone so far (as well as the actual voting, quite frankly), I must say that I'm genuinely surprised that the (1) vs. (8) matchup was the one you thought was too close to call... All things being equal, I don't think your abstained vote is going to turn out to be the difference but, now that it's open to the popular vote, you never know...

mine was accidental. i was about to PM you. got ahead of myself while debating on the 4 vs 5 pick (which is actually pretty damn tough). could you correct it so that my vote for that one reflects under c-diddy?

LOL....that is one of 2 that were not even close for me.

LOL....that is one of 2 that were not even close for me.

c-diddy had taken lots of really good rock albums that i wanted and slim had some great r&b records and tons of stuff i grew up with so it was alot tougher for me. even though i didn't care for some of his later picks, ultimately i think 3 of diddys albums were strong convinced me to vote that way.

c-diddy had taken lots of really good rock albums that i wanted and slim had some great r&b records and tons of stuff i grew up with so it was alot tougher for me. even though i didn't care for some of his later picks, ultimately i think 3 of diddys albums were strong convinced me to vote that way.

Yes, it is all good. The ones that were easy for me had a lot of albums by artists from years past. I am really showing my age with my picks. :p

Well, that makes sense: my taste in music is heavily influenced by the music my mom played when I was a kid. So it stands to reason that my list might be more attractive to people in my mom's age group... :p

This may well be true, but what strikes me as intriguing is what different opinions the two of you appear to have of other people's tastes in music...
yet the voting is incredibly similar...;)

the differences appear to be with hard rock(spike) and well, frankly i'm not sure on the tradepeja vs montysbiggestfan..

That one was a hard call for me.. i like both lists..mbf had hojo, but overall tradepeja just had one or two more bands that i happen to love to listen to.

it just sorta sucks that lots of board members who hardly ever venture in the lounge won't know that the voting is going on. i think the extra votes would really distinguish who people would favor. guess we'll just have to see what kind of turn out we get.

Indeed... but the poll...

The two of you were only within three places of the other when ranking two people.
Eh, I threw my "ranking" vote together very quickly - I don't think the matchups are quite as important as some might and didn't put TOO much effort into it. Too many variables. And nobody would "lose" based on the rankings.

Now in the head to head matchups the choices are easier to sort through. And they "matter". ;)

Well I do. All things being equal, I definitely would have liked my chances better against, say, Dime Dropper? :p

That one wasn't that difficult for me - U2 and Janet Jackson rank high with me in that matchup as far as total albums go. Many of the others had some great individual songs on both sides, but this is an album matchup and for the albums there I know, those carry a lot of weight.

Basically the "ranking" was a big crapshoot for me, as I thought you were just going to randomize the list of participants and put it straight to a board vote.

Also, based on the music being selected, I didn't think the initial head-to-head matchups would matter much. "The cream will rise to the top" at the end, so whether I lose out in the first round or the third against a particular opponent, I would still lose to their list no matter the round it takes place in.
