Darko Milicic?

Bench
I think hes gonna be a FA soon. any idea if the Kings will take a look at him? hes the perfect shot-blocking big we need.

i think its pipe but we should really take a look at him.

get Darko and trade Brad Miller and Bibby for cap-space and picks.

Word is Darko wants a Nene-like 60 million dollar deal.

While Darko could pan out to be a good shot-blocking, jump-shooting, finesse center the Kings seem to want and crave, there is no way I'm gonna shell out 60 million based on the dreaded "P" word.

Wait until he proves he can do it consitantly, and more importantly, at a high level before we pour our dollars into his pocket.

We can't simpley wait until he pans out i'm pretty sure hes gonna get locked up long-term so we won't have a chance at him for a while and by then he will probably be a force in the defensive end.

i don't care if hes asking for 60M. if we want to win we need to spend. thats how Mark Cuban got his team from were it is now. despite the fact he gaved Erick Dampeir a huge contract his defense alone brings major impact. so really if the Maloofs cared about $$$ then it shows there lack of willingness to win.

if Mark Cuban can do it so can the Maloofs.

Unless, Chicago throws in Deng, Gordon, PJ Brown and the NY's 1st round pick i don't see how Memphis is gonna trade with Chicago

if Gasol gets traded its likely to the Nets.

Back on topic:

PLEASE GET DARKO!!!!!

Joker do you realize that if we were paying Darko 60 million dollars he would be the focus of all your wrath for the length of his contract?

darko for the MLE? yes. darko for nene money? hell no. i think we should spend on young players with potential, but signing debilitating contracts to unknowns is not a smart move.

What are you talking about? unknowns? we're talking about Darko here. a young player with major up-side. hes gonna improve our defensive front-court isn't that what we want?

There is a happy medium between MLE and Nene money IMO. Nobody will give Darko Nene type money.

IMHO, Darko will probably get 30-40M type contract which is good enough. if its gonna be 60M i still want him. we're paying guys like Kenny Thomas big bucks while he doesn't produce crapola.

and we're whineing about giving our $$$ to our biggest need which is shot-blocking and defense?

i still don't think spending more than 6 million a year on an unknown is a smart move.

How do you view Darko when you consider him a unknown? does making our front-court better make things unknown? i'm not really sure why you view Darko as a unknown when he will bring what we lack.

"two wrongs dont make a right"

and we didnt give KT his contract, philly did. when we traded for him, KT was a decent player.

well for what darko has proven so far, he hasn't shown that he's worth 8-10 million no matter if he fills a need or not. if you're going to spend that kind of money and forego precious capspace that player better be worth it. if darko was 28 there wouldn't be any talk of making 8-10 million a year, so a lot of it is based on potential like the nene deal was and that has worked out terribly for the nuggets so far. while i hold out hope for darko to turn into a good starter if given the shot, it's still too much money for such a risk.

And Darko is not a decent player? or is Kenny Thomas a decent player? its not like we're comparing Apples to Oranges here...

Darko brings major impact to this team we should not whine about $$$ when we add a huge asset to our biggest need.

KT's deal is is only 50m over 7 years. Just as a point of reference. 60 million for Darko based on anything he's show so far is absolutely nuts.

How does this even count as a valid arguement?

Darko brings shot-blocking which is something we lack big time in the front-court and so is defense. based on anything hes shown? how many times have you been Darko play?

just because he can block shots doesn't make him worth 8-10 million a year

He also has a solid mid-range game, and brings a huge asset to this team... how is he not worth the money?

sometimes you have to spend to win this is no different.

Ben Wallace gets payed 80M for basically just rebounding and blocking shots and hes already starting to slow down. Darko is still young and has enough time to develop other tools to his game.

Because you're advocating spending almost 1/5th of the salary cap on a guy who in his 4th year is still barely averaging 20 minutes a game and who's stats over the last 2 years compare to Shawn Bradleys (minus 2 of Shawn's blocks per game)?

Getting Darko will be for shot-blocking and defense, stats don't matter if it was we would be in the Playoff seed right now. we have enough offense its the defense.

oh boy...here we go again on ANOTHER Darko trip. 3 words....No, No, No. He's not coming here, he probably is going to want too much money, and did I mention he's not coming here! End of story.

i gotta agree with Joker. we're headed toward the lottery and need some young players who will make an impact. say we sign Williams to a real contract, draft Oden, and sign Darko for some good money. Oden, Darko, and Justin Williams as our frontcourt guys? thats like a dream come true. you have the young upstart who can very well be a great defensive player in Williams. Darko's just gonna get better. And Oden might be the next Tim Duncan. Then we have Martin who will be the face of the franchise and a possible all star. Then, we sign Billups, who is a veteran with playoff/finals experience who can lead our youngsters. Then pick up a few more bigs, like Varejao!

The Maloofs have the money to spend. They need to start doing it. If they let Petrie spend some cash we'll have a great team.

so does eddie griffin, is he worth 10 million a year? he's got range to his shot too.

ben wallace does a lot more than block shots. can't really say the same for darko. just because he's young doesn't mean he'll get any better, it means it's possible.
