If there is a thread on him please merge this thread but i would not mind if we got him, Sixers have been shopping him since there Season ended and there is a little chance he returns as a Sixer next year probably.... i know his contract is huge but he can always pan out and a GM should always that take risk...
 
I've always liked Dalembert. Would love to see us get him. Elite shotblocker, athletic, good rebounder, long. Not a post-defender though, I guess.
 
Every thing he has his elite besides offensive game and post-game.

His defense is super
His shot-blocking is excellent
He's a good rebounder...

if he can develop a offensive game he can be a scary player we should take a chance on him.
 
I mentioned Dalembert awhile ago (I wanted Miller traded for him)...

A lot of people bashed his court awareness and offensive game.

But so what? He's not a PG! I would love to have him bring his rebounding and shotblocking to the kings!
 
Brad Miller is worth more then Dalembert however, i'd give up Kenny Thomas and maybe Jason Hart and a 2nd round pick. not sure if the salarys match.

lol do you remember how we ended up with KT in the first place? the only thing that might work is a s&t for bonzi, but they have iggy, so one of them would be stuck at sf. not unthinkable, tho. the sixers need to add talent, this would be a nice upgrade without a lot of downside for both teams.
 
I'm sure Kenny Thomas would not mind going back to Philly it's not like he asked out the trade was unexpected.

But Philly might mind, afterall it was they who sent him packing. Thomas would mind if it meant he's automatically regulated to the bench, lets not forget he's "a starter".

yeah I didn't even think about how Kenny felt- just that the Sixers were lucky enough to lose that contract in the first place, they sure as hell won't want it back. plus, they got webber in that deal, so getting back KT would just make no sense.
 
No way that Dalembert is nothing more a decent defender. Shotblocking alone does not make you a good defender. His defense is in the same category of Chandler and a recent version of Alonzo Mourning. They look for the block all the time, but this leads them constantly drifting away from their own man. His Rotation back to his man was slow, and he sometimes apperas lost on defense. Like Chandler he is also prone to early foul trouble. Add this to his low basketball IQ and he just looks lost out there.

Nobody said he's a great defender. People like his rebounding and shotblocking (something we need). He's still a better defender than we have. I'd love for us to have him. He's exactly what we need. Plus, he can still develop a low post game.
 
If you look at the players that Petri as drafted or traded for, he usually looks for players that play more than one position. Have passing skills and good court vision. Players that are basketball smart with good court awareness. Seldom are they players that are one dimensionable. He will occasionally take a flyer on a player with raw talent like Wallace, but remember that was with a team that was loaded with talent. He has in my recent memory, never traded for a player thats talented but raw.

I'm not saying its the right way, I'm just saying that you have to remember who's pulling the trigger.

Nonetheless there simply aren't enough rebounder/shotblocker types in the league to get terribly picky about where you get yours.

You don't think Dalembert's contract is prohibitively bad Brick?

For all the shots he does block, here is what the espn insider scouting reporting says about him:

"However, he more than undoes those blocked shots with his numerous goaltending violations. The NBA doesn't keep stats on this, but I would be shocked if he didn't lead the league by a wide margin. Now that he's been playing regularly for two years, he should have better judgment about which balls are on their way down, rather than simply swatting at anything he can reach. His other defensive areas could use improvement as well. Namely, he takes bad fouls and needs to get stronger to provide more resistance in the post. "

I think he's way overpaid at 10 million per year (for 5 more years). If he's getting paid 5 or 6 million, I would like it. Acquiring him would be a terrible move.

Uh? Bibby was never on the grizzlies. Reef and Bonzi were for a short time and Bibby and Reef were on the Raptors together. I do not care where they came from if they get the job done. If this guy is not better for us than BM than why bother???

Actually, Bibby was on the Grizzlies. Was still when they were in Vancouver though. SAR was there for 5 seasons. Bonzi for 1 1/2. Bibby for three.

Moved to Memphis in 01-02.

Why do people insist on picking up all of Philly's trash? Next thing you know KingsFans will be lobbying for AI.

You people don't seem to understand. His low basketball IQ (offensively) screws up any team trying to run an offense. And since his post game is garbage it is basically like 4 on 5 offensively with Sam crashing the hoop.

I'm not totally against acquiring him but I'd like to see us get a rebounder/shotblocker that can at least pass the ball and not foul out.

What I would like to see if we did acquire him is Kevin shooting/crashing the hoop from one side while Sam crashes the other side without the ball. That could lead to some sweet alley-oops and offensive boards.

Phillys trash? Shows how much you know. No matter what player we sign someone will always say "we're picking up ________'s trash". Ridiculous. AI trash? Ha. I'd take him in a heartbeat and so would anyone else with a brain. He's a superstar that can get you to championship contender with good players around him. You saying it's stupid to want him is even more stupid.

I agree. Last year he was the leading shot blocker in the league till he got hurt and when he came back he wasn't quite the same. He could help us.

You do realize the vast majority of NBA champions have been playing 4 on 5 on offense? Rare indeed is the team that wins it all which doesn't have one or more non-scorers in its lineup to do the dirty work. Its not all about the offense.

As for the rest, I agree there is a ? hanging over Dalmebert's head -- he came to the game late, and is he ever going to gain the saavy? But he certainly has the raw talents to do things that no Sacramento King can do no matter how many bowls of Wheaties he eats. He'd instantly be the best rebounder and best shotblocker on the team. And for all the mess that accompanies them, when your team has retreated to irrelevance and isn't going anywhere until it finds both shotblocking and rebounding, a young specialist in that area is always worth the consideration. Not as if we don't have large piles of unproductive contracts sitting around looking for a new home.

In retrospect, any tall player who clogs the lane would help us tremendously. We are so deficient in this area that even if we used Artest to play center and not let soft stuff in like Brad does would help us. I just don't understand how we don't fix this problem and face it year after year.

Teams like SA, Dallas, etc fix their weaknesses and actively try to become better than they are, we just got a absolute gift handed to us in Artest, otherwise we'd be in the lottery for the draft this year. We were a joke as a team before Artest.

Now this offseason has since been the same of letting Bonzi walk, eventhough we did give him a good offer, I don't totally blame us. Then we pick up Salmons who nobody can remember seeing or hearing about to a 5y/25.5M deal, now we have under $2M or so to solve the big problem we have a 4/5???? That just doesn't give us what we need to get the guy to do the job....then again as I said in retrospect...just about any tall guy would be an improvement to what we have. So I guess the standards are low here in Kingsland. :rolleyes:

I like Dalembert, but the guy is a bit of a bonehead like what I see in Kwame Brown. These guys have the physical gifts, but a brain filled with rocks. I guess we could just tell them to " Simon says.....stand here and get your arms up, Simon says.....move left..Simon says.....move right...now jump!!!!" Oh....I didn't say Simon says, don't goaltend Dally. ;-)

Dalembert isn't trash, that's just a ridiculous, exaggerated statement. Dalembert wouldn't be out there to pass or be a main offensive option - he'd be out there for athleticism, length, rebounding, shotblocking. We have plenty of guys for offense already, including the front-court.

If he improves in his weak areas, that's fantastic. If not, I'll still gladly take what else he does at a high rate.

His contract isn't good or fitting up to this point, no.

Dalembert may not be the answer to the Kings woes. sure he is big, clogs the lane, blocks shots and rebounds. He is also dumb as a bag of hammers. Makes really dumb moves in terms of stupid fouls, dumb pases, and as noted above probalby comits more goal tends than blocks, he also has almost no skills passing or even staying OUT of plays when the 4 offisive players are working.

If you could get him cheap and make him part of a second unit I could see it but that is just not reality.
