Eff this, I'm pissed!! Now we have no Chuckwagon AND Dalembert!! Ahhhhhhh EFFFF!!!!
Dalembert can go screw himself.
Let's just say this... the Kings might have better luck and get better value from a trade... the contract won't have to be $2-$3 million higher than anywhere else just to land the player.
That's a fairly dumb statement. You can see what much cap space means for the Kings. Nada and zilch. And we are running out of time. We fail this year, next year is Reke's last and Cousins' next to last. We are just about out of save it for next year time. When we've got a fish on the hook, we've got to reel him in, beucase we rarely even get a nibble.
A trade by its very nature involves giving up your things to get other things.
This is of coruse why free agfency remains the great inequity driver int eh NBA. Everything else is regulated and more or less even. Free agency = jsut a straight talent transfer from less desirable spots to more.
In any case, with Ak likely in line at NJ, that truly does leave us with a trade of some of these spare assets as our only choice. However as it has been in teh past, our truly spare parts aren't worth much more than a spare part in return. Not something that can start alongside Cousins and change the whoe team dynamic. Maybe Okafor if the Hornetes are reubilding, but hes' ridiculously overpriced and mechanical.
This, I agree with.
The time for patience and waiting for next year is OVER.
With Hayes gone, the Kings HAVE to get a solid interior defender, or this season is virtually guaranteed to be non-competitive (i.e. losing record, no chance at playoffs, no fan interest, little likelihood of getting a stadium financed).
With the exception of the Thorton signing and possibly the Salmons trade, the FO/ownership really screwed up this summer. We should have been sniffing at a minimum .500 and possibly an 8th seed, but instead we are going to watch a season of layup drills and another high lottery pick. Any shot blockers/interior defenders coming up in the draft next year? Seems like the only way we are going to get one.

As if having Sameul Dalembert would have guaranteed being competitive, a winning record, fan interest, a shot at the playoffs, arena financing, etc.
LOL, come on folks. We didn’t lose prime Shaq, we didn’t lose Dwight Howard, we didn’t lose Tyson Chandler. Heck, we didn’t even lose Brad Miller. We lost Sameuel freakin Dalembert. You know, the 8 and 8 guy who takes lots of dumb shots and goaltends all the time?
I can’t believe all the chicken little reactions here. Yeah, it would have been nice to keep him but he wasn’t going to single handedly save us from the dark depths of lottery bound basketball.
This team still has a lot of talent and the cap space to make a move.
I have faith that things will fall into place.
Heck, I’m just glad Sacramento still has a team. Losing Sammy D is nothing compared to almost losing the entire team.
It's time for new ownership.
To repeat what I've said for months - I agree that Sammy isn't all that and a bag of chips - and "having a shot-blocker" is incredibly overrated, especially when he goaltended so much and left guys open for easy baskets/RBDs when he went for the shots. He was NOT worth $10 for 4 years, and I firmly believe he wouldn't play hard if he was given that contract. As if having Sameul Dalembert would have guaranteed being competitive, a winning record, fan interest, a shot at the playoffs, arena financing, etc.

Sammy just didn't want to be a King, it seems...have fun showcasing your offensive arsenal in Houston.

Kings made Dalembert his two best offers of guaranteed money over past 2 weeks, sources say, but he clearly wasn't inclined to return there.

I am OK with another losing season if it didn't result in Sacramento losing the team. I feel like karma owes us a 1st overall pick.
Then why the hell did he give interviews saying he was looking forward to re-signing here just yesterday!
Karma and the NBA owes the Kings much, much more than that... but I will settle for a new areana.

He played the media like a stratovarius!
