Cwebb Vs. KG

I know people here have short memories but KG and Webb used to regularly go at it like this and we pretty much made the T-Wolves our *****. Then the injury came around and the Webb KG matchup was never the same until tonight.

No i remember, Webb used to do good agents KG alot, but that this game is not the only reason i miss him. I never liked this trade

i don't know when the last time he had a 20/20 game (before tonight), but he has had 8 of those in his career (9 including tonight). :)

How do you know he had 8 of them before tonight (can't find a site for that)?

My guess it that the last time he had a 20/20 game was also his career-best game.

01/05/01 vs Indiana: 51 points (24-47), 26 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks.

He probably had most of 'em when he was still a Bullet.

Oh yeah, sick performance tonight btw ;)

what a game by chris......i dont think we saw this mnay performances in sacramento by cwebb

Of course we did, but for some reason everyone on these boards is always too busy hating eaveryone for not being the best in the NBA at thier positions. When we had Webb we were hating him because he couldn't take us all the way. I know it's trite, but you don't know what you have till its gone.

:) I am really happy for Chris. :( I am really sad that he is no longer a King. It was a stupid trade. I said it then and I still say it now.

The Sixer announcer said he's had 9 total.

I aggree. I am happy for him, not about taken to cleaners in that trade.

I'm stunned the Sixers won this game. They tried their best to give it away to the Twolves at the end by playing terribly on offense (turning the ball over, taking shots early in the shot clock, etc.). And normally when CWebb is the best player on the Sixers, they seem to lose. Not tonight.

4cwebb, that's most likely a function of Iverson doing his damndest to take the ball out of Webber's hands down the stretch when he's having a good game... after all, if Webber comes up big in winning time, then people might be talking about somebody besides Allen F. Iverson, and we can't have that...

and here in sacramento peja continues his 15 points 4 boards weak play every game... LOL!

AI will make sure to cry to Steven A Smith about that

The last two games? No. Also, vs. Houston he had 5 boards. ;)

Like I said, it was going to take some games for him to get in a rhythm and be near back to how he was pre-injury. Don't know what people were thinking expecting him to be like he was before in the first 2-3 games back.

I'm really happy for chris.... The guy is amazing.... And it seems that weight he lost is really keeping him light on his feet...

On a side note, I can't believe there's still some negativity towards AI in this thread... He's been carrying that team this year, yet some people still make time to bash him.... Just relax people, relax.

Very nice to see c-webb having such a great game, hopes it continues. Also, onezero is right, there is no need on bashing AI, who is having a career year.

From Nba.com:

"After Minnesota superstar forward Kevin Garnett opened overtime with a turnaround jumper, Webber answered with a pair of jumpers around a free throw by Matt Barnes to give Philadelphia a 90-89 lead with 2:49 remaining.

The Timberwolves did not score again, due in large part to the admirable effort Webber did on Garnett, who was held to a quiet 19 points and seven rebounds.

With a chance to win the game, Garnett split two defenders and had a seemingly uncontested dunk before Webber got a piece of the ball, knocking it out of bounds with 7.3 seconds to go.

After a timeout, Webber deflected Richie Frahm's pass out of bounds and on their last chance - with four-tenths of a second left - the Timberwolves again turned to Garnett, whose shot in the lane was altered by Webber at the buzzer."

So anyone else think Petrie might be having a hard time getting to sleep tonight?

I think that GP has much bigger problems to lose sleep over a great game by CW. His team is 9-12. He is not sleeping well anyways

Looks like great numbers. I didn't watch the game. Unfortunantely this is a blip on the screen. You aren't going to get that everynight from Chris. He's obviously rehabbed even more, but this is a good match up for him. KG is a great shooter, and has great moves. He's not super athletic though. Athletic enough, but not super athletic.

Sorry but not everyone here shared those sentiments...

Go back in the archives and read the threads around Feb. 23, 2005. I think you'll see a decent number of us were fully aware of what we had ... and we couldn't possibly believe he'd been traded away for so little in return...

But, quite frankly, those of us who felt the most strongly have had to move on because it just hurt too much.

Half of those stats don't mean a thing. Minutes played?? Field Goal attempts?? I believe we complained about him taking too many sometimes. He's always been able to rebound good due to size and hands. Double, Doubles are regular for him. I'm talking defense. Yes he got some blocks tonight and a whole buttload of rebounds. KG has obviously not been himself. He sure wasn't when he played the Kings, even though they won. He's not super athletic. It's been noted repeatedly that the 76'ers have one of the worst defenses in the league, and Chris is a big part of that. As long as he can stand upright and in one spot he'll be able to score.

I think he is refering to the game at hand you know the 20 20 he had today. I myself thought that we needed to trade before his condition health wise got worse. (boy was I wrong he seemed recover better than I ever thought still not the greatest on defense but then last year. All I saw was him turning out to be another Penny and Houston a former shell of himself) But I was very very upset of garbage we got back at the time.

Yeah but look on the birght sie we have THE Kenny Thomas, Brian Skinner and Corless Williamson...

Maybe not, but you can pretty much count on him putting a up double-double nearly every night, and providing great veteran leadership and heart. He's learning to win with his savvy where he used to try and beat teams with raw athleticism... he's even worked out that free throw problem, and is currently averaging a career-best 85% from the line.

Webber might not have many more 20/20 games this season; hell, he might not have any. I tell you what, though: I'd be willing to bet money that he'll finish with more 20/20 games at the end of the season than the three bums that we traded for him, put together. Hell, did Thomas, Williamson and Skinner combine for twenty points and twenty rebounds in even one game last month?

Garnett isn't super athletic? Alright then...

I included all of them so people wouldn't accuse me of being selective.

If those rankings don't impress you, so be it.

I'm actually flabberghasted at the lengths some people go to just to avoid giving Webber his due. He came back and did what he said he would do. (And, somewhat ironically, in almost exactly the time frame originally mentioned by most surgeons on how long it would take for full recovery.) He worked very hard at rehab, and he did everything the doctors told him to do. And the result is pretty clear. He has become the epitome of a veteran who has continued to maintain being an impact player even though his skill sets have changed just a bit. He's still one of the most savvy players in the game today.

Garnett is much quicker than Webber, but Webb is stronger. Webber can out muscle Garnett and push him to areas where he's less comfortable, but you'd still need help from teammates to minimize Garnett's speed.

What I found most impressive was the rebounding. Garnett gets a lot of rebounds due to his length and quickness, and he got sealed off tonight. If you can take that away from him, you give yourself a great chance to win the game.

Webber had a great game.
