Crazy Idea - Kings - Wizards

This assumes that the Wizards are looking to blow the clown up..They’ll likely deal Jamison to the Cavs for Zydrunas and change.

Kings deal:
Kenny Thomas
Beno Udrih

Wizards deal:
Gilbert Arenas
Javale McGee

Why for the Kings – It basically adds another star quality player for our roster and shores up some fontcourt depth we’ve needed. The Wizards are apt to keeping McGee, but would include him in offers to move the Arenas contract.

Why for the Wizards – Moving Arenas contract is going to be HARD to do. Adding Beno gives them a passable replacement at nearly a 1/3 the cost. Adding Z and Thomas as expirings to rebuild. I’m sure Butler could be moved for picks and prospects to help the Wizards rebuild.

Kings rsoter:

C: Hawes, McGee, May
PF: Thompson, Brockman, Nocioni
SF: Martin, Casspi, Greene
SG: Evans, Garcia, Udoka
PG: Arenas, Rodriguez

People are already complaining about how a Martin/Evans backcourt won't work and Martin demands the ball far less than Arenas. Arenas isn't quite the player he was before his legs exploded either. The fact that you're keeping Martin makes this even less likely to work. This just smells of disaster to me.

I do like McGee though

I just don't see the Wiz doing this. I know they would love to move Arenas, but I doubt they want to move Jamison as well. Thats their two best players. And then they're throwing in a young promising center as well.
But even if they would, I wouldn't want Arenas here. He dominates the ball too much and that would fit well with Evans.

I like JaVale, infact I would love to get him... At the cost of K9 for Arenas though... I say we force them to take Nocioni + Beno and see how badly they want to move Arenas.

It's one or the other, not both. I figure Beno is a better fit, cheaper and actually has more value as he's a better player.

I think we would have to start negotiations out with Washington with Noci + Beno though. Gauge how desperate they actually are to get rid of him.

To me, his Con's outweigh getting JaVale McGee(who is still a raw prospect) if we have to give up K9... Which are as follows

The Cons:
Contract
He's a ball dominant guard - I'm not sure his ego would allow anything else
He would probably be a PG for us, which would mean full sized players back on Tyreke.
Injury History

McGee's D is just horrible.. Horrible as in disastrous.. Disastrous as in Oh my god please shoot me.. You get the point.

Arenas, Martin, Evans back court would just be stupid.. Not the good kind of slang stupid either.. just plain stupid.

Back in his prime I once suggested giving Arenas/Martin a whirl as a backcourt combo, but even at the time I said it was just for fun because having two soft defenseless chuckers running around throwing crap at the rim from 25 feet out wasn't ever going to win you anything. And now with Reke in town... just no. There would be fights over the ball. The scale would be irrevocably tipped against toughness and defense and toward chucking. And we'd be pinned forever with half of our cap tied up paying for underacheiving chucking stars stealing shots from each other.

I don't get it why you still want to get rid of Bano Udrih...

Can play PG, can play SG, doing everything right, winning games....

Well before this year I would have LOVED to get rid of Bathroom Udrih, but not so sure about it now unless the right deal came along.

Its kind of an oxymoron. If Beno plays like last year, we want to get rid of him, but think he has no trade value. So we hope he starts playing better to up his trade value. But now that he has upped his trade value, we're not sure we want to get rid of him.

Is this one of those Zen meditation paradoxes?

I would not want to trade Beno right now, he is a steady hand- can run the offense, brings stability and play making.. is comfortable playing second banana as backup PG now.. he's one of the best backups in the league at pg he fits seamlessly into the team
