Crandell Again - Reported on Private Equity Group and 2nd Arena plan

I'm sorry but that sounds completely ****ing badass.

But I don't want them on opposite ends of the stadium. Put em both front and center. Now that's a ****ing show.

Shoot fireworks out of the guitars and hit a sick riff when the Kings dunk on a fast break, and then David Lee Roth jumps up and does the half kick splits at center court... IN THE AIR

I think we need to submit our idea to the Maloofs and Stern and leak our plans to Crandell.

There's something to be said for smaller and more intimate. After all if we get a bigger arena it risks becoming sterilized and could appear (er, sound) quieter than the golden days of Arco. That would be a crying shame. As much as I like the Rose Garden it feels that way. When the Blazers played in the old Memorial Colliseum they had the same reputation Sac fans and it all changed because of the venue.

On the other hand, Arco has always been the pits for live music and a perfectly engineered arena for large concerts would be a real treat for Sacramentans.

If I remember correctly, I think the city had been looking at arena's across the country and really liked Conseco Fieldhouse because it was more intimate and would keep some of the same feel of Arco. But it seems like most of the newer arenas are being built a little larger. Up to 21,000 seats.

It's funny, Conseco Fieldhouse and AAC in Dallas opened up around the same time and the company I worked for at the time installed point of sale systems in both arenas and everyone came off more impressed by Dallas. But 10 years later Conseco is very frequently cited as the top arena in the league (although AAC is usually right up there).

I got no problem with them building a 21,000 seat arena, but they should put it at 19,000 for regular season games, and open up the other 2k for playoff games imo, or other events. If ther eis issues with meeting the demand for regular season they can open up as well.. Like for Laker, Heat, or Celt games.

Yeah but, is the guy willing to risk his credibility and go out on a limb like this? it IS kind of suspicious these guys just came out of no where,... maybe they can work together with burkle to oust the maloofs. anonymous guys... Jerry buss? LOL

Risk his credibility? Have you not been paying attention? The first time was understandable, the second was painful and now he's just flinging poo up against a dart board.

Exactly. Is it built to move off the lot or is it built for the road?

I would if I could... sadly I never heard of this jim crandell before, hence I don't know his rep. i've been following guys like simmons and amick. amick does his job well btw. I try to stay away from voison and that randy youngman,

and from what I've been reading from other sites, grant is like an *** in his show? and even if he knew sources and if he knew answers he wouldn't divulge anything that would give advantage to the sacramento and kj's group because he is an employee of the maloof

all these speculations are hit and miss.. anything can happen.

Well, last night I tweeted questions to all the media guys who normally report on Kings stuff asking for any kind of corroboration on this massive story. Even asked Crandell himself, respectfully, why we should believe it with no other folks reporting. So far there is not a single peep from any of them about it. So:

a. Either the entire Kings media world was caught with their pants down except for Jim

or

b. EXCLUSIVE in this case means exclusive of any substance.

Will let you know if I get anything back.

On Kings arena news, Jim has become the boy that cried wolf.

Ya know his last report wasn't wrong. There was a plan to renovate etc. It just wasnt a solution that was going to happen.

So the question on the current report is it something that is actually feasible and workable with the Maloofs?

Ya know his last report wasn't wrong. There was a plan to renovate etc. It just wasnt a solution that was going to happen.

He had 3-4 talking points. They money was not in place and the Maloofs were not in fact interested. So the report was wrong.

It was a poor report because he failed to give any facts. Good news, but I can't tell you what it is or why I think that. The next day, he admitted on air to actavist reporting. He just wanted to brighten the news. That's what killed his cred.

And Jim either knew or should have known that the Maloofs would reject a remod.

So no, it wasn't a good report.

His atl report seems logical and somewhat consistent with documented reports, but to be fair ... it sounded like that group asked for a lot by any owners standards.

As for this one. Who knows?

I'm trying to remember... was the story about Comcast-NBC/Universal building a City Walk with an arena also originated from a FOX 40 report?
