ok well its appears like we are going to be basically choosing between Cousins vs Monroe... Aldrich could be in the mix or maybe a wing or random player... but it looks mostly like these two guys...

Whats everyones thoughts at choosing one over the other...

Honestly Cousins could be the most talented player down the line... but I really dont like his attitude and could really see him being a bad fit with our long term plans... i could really see him being like a Zach Randolph type guy. talented and skilled but holding his team and himself back by being such a bone head...

Monroe however is pretty offensively skilled in the post which we could really use... plus has the court vision and shooting touch Geoff loves... But maybe doesn't have the potential of cousins...

Im really warming up to Monroe being the guy... and chalking it up to either Monroe or Hawes will eventually step up into being a solid starting Center... and the other being an ok bench player... thus leaving this team with the starting and reserve Centers we need... also allowing Laundry and JT as the 1, 2 PF players...

I think the only thing pretty much set in stone right now is the top 3. I wouldn't assume anything beyond that.

Really looking forward to seeing the Cousins/Favors workout footage.

I thought we'd have a shot at picking Cousins but the closer we get to draft day the more sure he will be going at 4.

that'll leave us with the Monroe or Johnson.

I've warmed to Whiteside as well after that hilarious post workout interview!

I don't think it comes down to us choosing between Monroe and Cousins. We'd be lucky if Cousins is even available at 4. And to the best of my knowledge Geoff Petrie hasn't actually stated that he likes Monroe. IMO Johnson is the clear #5 choice, but even if others don't think so, 5-9 is pretty much wide open. Johnson, Aminu, Monroe, Udoh, Aldrich, Davis are all possibilities. And Cousins of course.

I think Cousins attitude might actually be a good fit for the Kings. Reke is obviously the leader but he is too soft spoken (I presume). He seems like more of a positive reinforcer, just like everyone else in our core. There is no one on our team that is good enough to negatively reinforce. Cousins can do that. I hate Kevin Garnette but it works and I want one too.

If he tries to get in Westphals face that could be very bad, however. Worth the risk

Cousins, easily

I'm probably Monroe's biggest supporter on this board. I think he's a great prospect, and would be happy to have him. However championships are won by unstoppable superstars. Cousins has that ability, Monroe does not.

I have been a Cousins fan since the first time I saw him play and although Monroe improved greatly this season over last season, he's still a softy. If having another softy that can shoot from outside but can't hold his position in the post on defense is your type of inside man, Monroe is your guy. I'll take my chances with a little attitude and muscle in the middle and go with Cousins. I just believe Cuz has a lot more upside than Monroe.

It would have been nice if we could get a monster workup between Cousins, Favors, Monroe, Aldrich. I would pay to see that.

Is this thread your way of preparing the fans for a softer landing in case we get another kind of player you termed as soggy w*****?

You are kind a bit confusing. You hate soft BIGs and yet you are warming up to getting another potential soft BIG.:o

And what would it be this time for Monroe, soggy doughnut?:p

Yay!!! Monroe = Soggy Waffles x2.

Like the above said, are you just preparing yourself for when we take Monroe or something? He's pretty damn soft.. I can see the competition right now between Soggy#1 and Soggy#2 which would end in 3pt shooting with both of them saying;

"you go inside"
"no you go inside"
" nah go ahead, I am good out here"
"3pt shoot off?"
"SURE!"

You could put either name in there and the quotes would work.

and I can see the opposing team go

"Your rebound"
"No go ahead its yours"
"no i insist"
"I got the last 10 i already got my double-double and raised my fantasy value its your turn"

I don't think Reke is as soft spoken as you might imagine. I remember him calling out Noc this last year (and rightfully so). Reke is our star, and going forward, we need to find players that compliment him. Given Cousins' attitude, I think he might be benefited as second to an alpha dog like Reke.

I hope the Maloofs push for Cousins, take a chance if he is there. if he is the next Eddy Curry atleast we tried and will not owe him 20mil a season.

Tyreke, Landry and Cousins is a great foundation. I honestly want to see Brockness and Cousins play together!!

Basically, as long as we're winning people won't complain. But if we're not you may get some complains from Cousins blaming it on others and stuff. Not because it's in his nature, but naturally as a new guy coming in if you think you're really good you'd feel that you're not getting enough touches and stuff.

To choose between Cousins and Monroe, is like asking me to choose between Hawes and Brook Lopez. I think you know the answer to that one..

This isn't even close, and really shouldn't be debated. Cousins is far superior to Monroe in every category except passing (where Monroe is actually elite for a big).

If you're worried about Cousin's attitude, I can kind of understand (although I don't agree). But on skills, ability and potential, it's not close.

I don't see how we're down to picking between Cousins and Monroe. My guess is that if Cousins falls to #5, we take him without hesitating. If he's gone, then Johnson, Monroe, Udoh, Aldrich are all possibilities.

Sactownfan-We just spent an entire season with you just about losing it after every game because of Soggy Waffles not doing a damn thing. You criticized our frontline, and especially Spencer, as much or more than any other poster. You took every chance you had to remind people how much Spencer sucks and how soft he is. Now we have a chance to get Cousins, the exact opposite, and you're worried about his attitude? To the point you would want to take Monroe, who is very similar to Spencer?

"Monroe however is pretty offensively skilled in the post which we could really use... plus has the court vision and shooting touch Geoff loves... But maybe doesn't have the potential of cousins... "

This description from you about Monroe sounds exactly like a pre-draft description of Spencer. I don't see how Cousins attitude worries you to the point of not drafting him. I haven't seen anything which would cause me not to pick the guy. I'm more concerned with our present 7' center not having any attitude at all, and showing up for games with the same mindset as someone going to a sunday morning church service.

I think it's going to be Cousins' unavailability at #5 that will keep us from drafting him. If we want him we have to move up in the draft. If not there are still good players to be had.

EDIT: Check the groovy avatar Daddio!

A little footage of, hopefully our next center..

Particularly enjoyed 2.30 mark, where he casually picks a scrawny little guard off the floor when he won't release the ball. I want that mean streak.

He brings toughness, passion, determination, and yes, an attitude. He's the type of player I can imagine being a beast in the playoffs. That's not even mentioning his skill level and size.

Rumor out of Minny is that they're not bringing Cousins in for a workout. Means only one of two things. They settled on drafting Johnson, or they might have a trade in the works. If its the first one, then barring NJ or the 76's taking Cousins, he drops to us.

I think Cousins can be a huge difference maker for the Kings, and if I were Petrie, I'd do whatever's needed to make sure we end up with him. If we do end up with him, then I think we have a legitimate shot at back to back rookie or the years honors.

Yeah, Cousin's game is taylor made for the NBA. A 1-2 combo of Evans is very promising. Certainly a powerfully built team, which is what wins in the NBA. I've always been a huge fan of Cousins, and I don't think I'd be happier with anyone else in this draft. Just a perfect fit.

Minny do look like they have their heart set on Johnson. He's a great fit for them, and I think he'll be an excellent player. But Cousins is my top guy in this draft.

A little footage of, hopefully our next center..

I thought at times I was watching Kwame Brown.:p

Is it just that the footage is on slowmotion or Cousins really looks like Kwame Brown with that headband he's wearing? He looks so slow and raw on this highlights.

Oh well, as long as he plays wih that mean streak, I don't mind if he looks like Kwame Brown. At least with him we won't ever read the word soggy waffles to describe his game. And he is still young so he has time on his side to improve.:D

The last thing Cousins is is raw. He has a pretty polished game already, although obviously there's still alot of room for improvement. He's actually a very good passer, which is an element of his game that's often overlooked. Has some nice moves in the post and his footwork is genuinely brilliant. Very strong rebounder too. Try and catch some of his games if you can. Think they're still being showed on the NCAA website.
