I can't get the words "top 4" out of my head. Last year, we fell as far as we could to #4, worst possible outcome. Just by the law of averages, and how much the Kings have gotten screwed in the past, it has to play out in our favor sooner or later. Whats the probability of falling to #4 with the worst record, and then falling to #5 or #6 with the 3rd worst record? Can't happen 2 seasons in a row can it. If it does I;m screaming conspiracy!

Roughly how many hours til this takes place? I'd appreciate the amount of hours from my post, not times etc. as I'm not in the US and I'm awful at time differences. Would I be right in saying the lottery will be taking place in about 16 and 1/2 hours?

Well, it's been a while since I took stats, but...if I remember correctly, chance that two events take place in a predetermined order is equal to the chance of the first event multiplied by the chance of the second event, so, 35.716% last year (that we'd fall from first to fourth) times 4.075% this that we fall from third to sixth, which gives us 1.455427% chance of an outcome where we get totally screwed in back to back years. However, it's important to note that, since the events are independent, the result of last year's draft lottery has no impact on this year's draft lottery, and our actual chances of landing the sixth pick this year are 4.075%. The 1.5% figure is truthfully the chance that we get fourth last year AND sixth this year. Stats geeks, please correct me if I am wrong.

Edit: Since you asked, the chance that we get the fourth pick last year AND the fifth pick this year is approximately 9.5%. However, since they are independent, the chance that we get the fifth pick this year is actually 26.540%.

Yeah, 16 1/2 hours

You are correct. Lightning strikes twice in the same place, and prior misfortunes don't earn us future luck credits.

I'm very excited as well and can't find enough material on it. Where are you guys going online for reading material etc?

Guys it'd be great to get a pic from 1-4 but brace yourselves for the possibility of the 5 or 6. And this is a decent draft IMO so that works out to Aminu, Johnson, Aldrich or someone that could fit right in.

In other words we can get pissed about our drafting order but let's support our new player no matter what. :)

I predict that we get the second pick.

Please tell me your name is Nostradamus...

Heck, I'll even settle for Miss Cleo!

I think the best we'll get is 4 but 2 I think is the highest they can get because the KINGS aren't that lucky, they'll get crap and stuck with the 6th pick and pee me off.

I'm so nervous. Does anyone know at what time they actual pick the numbers?

If I'm reading the press stuff correctly, mindless hype and blather starts at 4:30 Pacific time, followed by the first result being announced a very short eternity after 5:00.

From the Bee this morning:

Team representatives will begin arriving for the lottery around 5 p.m. EST, said Tim Frank, NBA vice president of basketball communications. Reps will be ushered into conference room 3A, which is locked down at 7 p.m. No cell phones are allowed.

The drawing of the number combinations for the draft lottery begins 10 minutes later. By 7:20 p.m., the onstage reps are being briefed for the television show that begins at 8 p.m.

Kehriotis and the rest of the reps will then enjoy watching the reactions of team owners and representatives while still locked in the conference room.

"I think everybody on that stage is really nervous, but there's nothing they can do," said Frank, who was the Houston Rockets' representative in 2000 and 2001 when he worked for the team. "They're at the mercy at something that happened an hour, hour and a half earlier."

Note they are talking about the secondary reps, not Reke. That means Kehriotis for the Kings.

I have direct tv and I know it is eastern time. So for me here in Sac coverage on the lotto starts at 5 PM PST on ESPN, the same ESPN channel that has the Eastern Conf. Finals tonight.

Had another dream last night.... This was a decent dream... Kind of...

We DID have John Wall..... And it was the beginning of a new season and Evans was on fire... BUT...... We also had Udonis Haslem for some reason and his first game with us was a 6pts 6rbd game.. Landry missed 2 clutch freethrows BADLY and was booed.

Also there was also a thing that the media people were doing. Great plays they got a screencap and made the top 5 plays of the game from it and had all 5 screencaps from the top 5 on the screen at once, and it went from 5 to 1.. I thought it looked kinda neat in my dream lol.
