If that Miss America was found to be married (Mrs.) that would eliminate her even though she was perfect in every way..
Artest isn't the best team player, and I think the style of ball we are trying to play isn't the best fit for Artest.

One NBA source told me tonight, "We're still playing poker, but nothing is done."
George Karl is less optimistic about anything getting done. When Karl was asked if he would have the same team after the deadline, he said, "If I were in Vegas, I would be betting on that."

If Phx traded their 1st round pick they got from atl, and their trade exception for Ron and Lue, I would say that Phx would become the dominant front runner to win it all this year. The question is wheather they are willing to pay the extra tax to win it all?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bidding war between the Knicks, Suns, and Denver now.
New York would be one of the ideal places to keep Artest if he were to be traded because he has stated he wants to plays in NY. What could NY offer us now though? The only real scenario I could think of is a sign and trade after this season in order for the Kings to get a good look at Williams for the rest of the year, and if Williams wasn't going to work out Lee could be the backup? Artest would get his $$.
Suns can offer us Atlanta's 1st round pick which would be somewhere in the range of about 15-19. This would net us Kevin Love? Also we get the TE. IMO the best deal because we don't take on any players except for next years #1 pick which is perfect for rebuilding.
Denver offers #1 pick (somewhere between #19-#24), which could be used to draft Augustin? Also Kleiza, and an expiring or two. Only worry here is that we have a glutton of SG/SF right now.
My scenario is a multiple team deal... Not sure how though, but I am sticking with it.

Yea, but we don't have Dwight Howard and that's a HUGE difference. It's easier for contending teams to overlook character problems because they focus is on court play now, not building towards the future. Artest's character problems are only PART of the reason why I want him gone, other reasons are that we should be saving up cap space, he's not very coachable, he's a ball hog, and we don't need on court production right now, we need to build towards the future. I think it's naive to suggest off court issues don't matter in the NBA because it obviously does.
As I have said before, and another poster a few posts back, Artest is everything you want on the court. I have rarely sen a player that plays harder than he does. He is hustling EVERY second he is in the game. He is only 29?? I am all for giving him an extension. You arent getting crap in a trade... A pick?? Big deal. Look at the pick we just got in the Bibby trade. What was he, 5th or 6th pick in the draft????? Did that make him a legit NBA star? Heck no. Artest is already a star, and he can likely be had for FAR below what the market would normally give a player of his ability.

Yeah and big time PFs don't leave theri teams often. Cap space AND draft are VERY important for a rebuilding team.
Through the draft we have more chance of getting that stud PF to build a team around than we do through trade. Thats a fact. Then you surround that PF with a couple of good FAs that you can sign because of your cap space and you are in business.
If we didn't have the cap space back in 98 would we have reached the heights that we did after that period?! We got Webber and then we SIGNED Vlade because of cap space.
Get rid of everyone that will not be part of your future. Take your chances in the draft because those chances are a hell of a lot better than getting that stud in a trade. Thats a proven fact over the years. Not many stud bigs leave their teams. No chance of us getting Howard or anyone of similar talent level via trade. And even if we were able to do it, we would still have to give a hell of a lot to get them then you are still not a contender and no closer to being one because you just gutted your roster to get a big name player.
So what? Is he the player we need to get to the next level? No. So he's not untouchable; none of our players are. If he can be moved in a way that makes us better in the long run, then we should move him.
You must have missed the brawl.
Not that I think Artest is going to snap again, but he is the most impulsive and unpredictable player I have ever seen. He could, at any minute, become a huge distraction, on or off the court. There is a track record here. I'm not just saying that because I don't like his personality.
And when you consider the fact that he wants a long-term contract after this season is up, and we're a team that needs to do something to improve our chances of getting better, you don't spend money on someone that doesn't make you a contender if you don't have to. Especially when that someone is likely going to want superstar money (he claims to be a superstar caliber player).
Again, this isn't about Ron Artest so much as it's about the current state of the Kings. But the fact that Ron Artest has a history of being a problem does have to come into play here. If we can parlay him into young talent or picks or both, we should, rather than hold onto the hope that he can propel us into being a good team again.
The draft is a CRAP shoot. If you dont have a top pick, and even if you do, you have no guarantee your player will be worth a crap.
What number pick you think you need to land an All Star type big man? PF or center?? Top 5? well the Williams guy we just got was a top 6, is he going to be the answer? Was he a lock stud? I dont know, but someone thought he was worth a lottery pick.
Howard was drafted with a top pick, and we aint getting one of those.
People that want to bring up the brawl about Artest, I dont care. I will only go by what he has done since he has been in Sac.
The Kings right now have many of the pieces in place to be very good. I dont think this team needs to rebuild from scratch as some of you think they need to. Forget the talk about free agency. Vlade came but he was a different type of man. He was mature and not like the players in the NBA that are young and studs. Not likely those guys will be jumping to come to sac.
We can agree to disagree, but I dont think you get anything but crap for Artest. I think you can re-sign him. I dont think he opts out cause I dont think any teams will be ablel to give him big bucks.
I dont care about off court stuff as long as he plays and plays hard and produces. Since he has come to Sac, he has done all of that. He is simply one of the top SF in the league, period.

Pardon the prolonged absence there. Just got done chatting with Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie about a myriad of things. Among them, obviously, was how his day of potential dealings went.
His status report: "Might be time to turn the volume down," he said.
As in the volume of trade talk that has surrounded Ron Artest, and more specificially his situation as it pertains to Denver. There was talk from Petrie of a price of admission and how sometimes people just choose not to pay. The point, of course, was that Artest's price has not changed. If the Nuggets want him, they must give up Linas Kleiza in the deal.
It does not appear that the Kings have anything else of larger substance in the works, though I wouldn't be surprised if a role player is shipped out by tomorrow. All that being said, this is still a staring contest. If Denver blinks come morn, then the deal will get done.

I want Artest gone but by the same token I don't want us to just give him away with nothing to show for it! I would rather let him walk in the off-season that have to accept some crapshoot deal!

Seriously?...If the Nuggets are unwilling to part with Linas to get Artest they are just being idiots. They are only 4 1/2 games from being #1 in the WC and adding Artest could be a huge boost to their season.
It ranks up their with Isiah saying the Lee is untradable. Gimme a freakin' break.

what it really comes down to is this...
ron is a very good player.. a very good complete player.. hustles, plays incredible D and good offense.. the problem is that he is probly one of the worst players to have on a rebuilding team , when everythings runs through a player who plays 40 mins a night the young guys really get little to nothing out of the little playing time they get.. he can defffinetly be a ball hog but you can say that about any star.. RON WILL OPT OUT AT THE END OF THE YEAR THOUGH .. so anyone who is against trading him i really really really dont undertsand where your coming from.. you have to make sacrifices in the present to have a good future.. but this isnt even a sacrifice.. he deserves more money, more money that he will get.. anything we get from ron in a trade is FREE thats why i dont undertsnad why petrie wont trade ron to denver for najera and a 1st..

Um....no it's not. Why take on a salary of a player that does not fit the team's needs if we can use the money that Ron leaves on the table to help us sign a player that meets our needs better this summer?
This is no time to settle for 2nd rate deals.

There is no taking on salary being discussed. Everything is enders. The only questions is what we get wiht the enders. If our choices are enders who will be gone at the end of the year + a pick, vs. Ron who will be gone at the end of the year wiht no pick, option A wins everytime. And either option trumps we resign Ron to a $10-$15 mil a year deal and never fill up the arena again mess.

Nuggets forward Linas Kleiza, wearing a boot on his sprained left ankle, was walking slowly Wednesday. Indications are, though, he won’t soon have to hustle out of town.
With the NBA trade deadline at 1 p.m. MST Thursday, Nuggets coach George Karl called it a “1 percent chance’’ Kleiza will be moved. Karl said he’s “betting’’ against the Nuggets making any trade.
Kleiza, who returned after being hurt in the first half Tuesday against Boston and is expected to play Friday at Chicago, has been a possibility to be dealt with forward Eduardo Najera to Sacramento for forward Ron Artest.
However, a source a close to the situation said the Nuggets remain opposed to dealing Kleiza, an intriguing young talent, in a deal for Artest, who can opt out of his contract this summer. The source believes that would kill any possible deal.
“If we have to throw (Kleiza) in to get (Tim) Duncan or (Kevin) Garnett or someone like that, we’d probably throw him in, but right now I think there’s a lot of gossip out there,’’ Karl said.
Kleiza, 23, was flattered to hear it’s unlikely he’ll be dealt.
“I want to be here for a long time,’’ said Kleiza, whom Karl expects to practice today after he did no work Wednesday. “I hope I’m still here.’’
Karl said Nuggets officials will continue to make calls. But he expects the deadline to pass without a move.

Denver also had looked into acquiring Memphis point guard Kyle Lowry, but his agent, Andy Miller, said Wednesday his client is “staying put.’’ Point guards who could be had include Seattle’s Delonte West and the Clippers’ Sam Cassell.
A source said Memphis also isn’t planning to deal forward Mike Miller, who has been linked to Denver. Other Nuggets players mentioned as candidates to be traded have been Nene and J.R. Smith, but Kleiza and Najera are the names heard most often.
“I’ve tried to explain to both Eddie and L.K, because they’re in so many of the trade (rumors), if it really gets hot, I’ll come talk to them,’’ Karl said.
Karl hasn’t had that talk, and doesn’t anticipate having it.

Why would Denver do that? If they're reluctant to give up Kleiza for Artest, why would they give up both Kleiza AND Nene for Artest and Nachbar? That's essentially Nene for Nachbar on top of a deal they're already reluctant to do. Never. Ever.
