Congrats Hedo, Brad Miller, Salmons, and Artest

Showtime

Starter
Hedo advances to the second round with Orlando. Artest moves on with Houston tonight. And in one of the most exciting games ever, Salmons and Miller come up HUGE to force a game 7 in Boston.

I just realized that there are a lot of ex-Kings players in these playoffs.

Congrats to Hedo, Brad, John, Ron & Rick Adelman

Well someone had to lose: Mikki & Eddie House

(in East Coast time) Mike & Mo Evans hopefully await their turn tonight.

Indeed, the Kings in the playoffs this year team would easily kick the butts of the Kings in Sacramento team:

C- Brad Miller
PF- Drew Gooden
SF- Ron Artest
SG- John Salmons
PG- Mike Bibby

Bench:
SG/SF/PF Hedo Turkoglu
SG/SF Peja Stojakovic
SG/SF Mo Evans
SG/SF Dahntay Jones
PG/SG Eddie House
PG/SG Ronnie Price
PF/C Mikki Moore

Coach: Rick Adelman
Assistant Coaches: Byron Scott, Mike Woodson, Vinny Del Negro

And that's just top of my head. Probably forgetting people.

Miller actually showed signs of physical toughness in this game, with 4-4 free throws down that crucial stretch. Rebounded too against a supposedly tough Celtics team. If only he could keep motivation level consistently up there...

was thinking exactly the same thing. can you see if the salaries work out? I mean, we had these players and maybe if we kept them as a team we'd be pretty good right now.

I was thinkin that Portland made a big mistake in not trying harder to get John Salmons. He's been the difference for Chicago. And, he could have been the difference in Portland.

Naw. He's definitely a better defender and scorer than anyone else on their bench, but I think he'd rent their chemistry in two and freeze out guys like Fernandez who need their shots to be relevant.

this is the only thing that keeps me glued to the tv, knowing that almost every game i watch will have a former king not only playing but playing well....

He works for the Bulls because they don't trully have a scorer with a "scoring" mentality besides Ben Gordon. He's like a bigger, stronger, way more selfish Gordon. He had a phenomenal game, but the shots he takes are so absurd it makes you want to cry. Dribbling out 15 seconds off the clock, hoisting up a 3... driving vs 3 Celtic's defendners in the paing and throwing up a contested shot... so on and so on. He would not work on another team that actually has set up scorers. He's not as effective unless he gets his. I like the guy but he does not really fit the "team" aspect.

Rick would never in a million years start Salmons over Hedo. Especially since he'd have Gooden/Miller at 4/5. ;)

Yea, I've heard that line all year. But, guess what, Chicago must not care about his dribbling because he's gotten more mpg than any other player. He's still 3rd in ppg, tied with Gordon in most pts per attempt, gotten to the line more than Rose on 17 fewer shots, & he's still defending the other teams best player.

Yea, he's useless, good thing we got rid of him. And, no way Portland could have used 20ppg from the 3, and someone to guard Artest.

They certainly would, but lets not spend much time romancing the Miller, Bibby, Artest, Salmons' Kings since that was the team last and it didn't exactly set the world on fire.

I think it speaks to the point that Petrie has a good eye for talent and that the the guys we had were not bad players, just not good enough collectively.

You pretty much described Paul Pierce there too, and I doubt anyone in Boston is complaining. Bottom line, without Salmons this series is already over. He has pretty much cancelled out Pierce which is more than anyone in Chicago could have hoped for.

Never said he was useless... I just don't like his game. Bulls have won this with good team defense, timley shots and some cojones. Boston has shot themselves in the foot a number of times also. With him in the lineup, he is surrounded by Rose (does not look for his own shot AT ALL, only first game), Hinrich (great complementary player, can go whole game without needing the ball), Thomas (energy defense/hustle guy, takes only open jumpshots, usually finisher around the rim) and Noah (NEVER wants the ball, only finisher on dunks). He has nobody to fight for possesion of points with, is Chicago's only real SCORER besides Gordon. THAT is why he is in the game. He fits what the team needs. I don't really know where I said he's useless...?

Really? You're really going to compare the two? It's your opinion that I'm describing Pierce, and it is wrong. It is much easier to get your numbers with less offensive firepower around you. I'm well aware that without Salmons the Bulls are done. At no point did I discredit him. I don't like his game or style, but he's been instrumental in the series.

Just by the way... Pierce (along with the rest of the Cs) are running on fumes. They have lost their top PF along with their top backup PF/C... Pierce has been forced to play everywhere from 2 to 4 depending on Bulls matchup. He has deffered to Ray Allen (no reason to defer to one of the greatest shooters ever) and also to believe it or not, Glen Davis, who has played extremely well and shot even better. Rondo has also averaged 20 ppg which is none too shabby. Throw in the fact that I think Pierce is really slowing down after playing basically year round and carrying the club offensively and defensively while KG was out, and you get a ****storm of intangibles that makes him not as effective as he usually is. I don't think he's the player that he was years ago, but in no way am I saying that he is Salmons' equal, and you shouldn't be either. They've cancelled each other not because Salmons has been otherworldly (even though he has hit a couple of big shots, which I cannot take away from) but because Pierce has become better than average, instead of spectacular.

By the way, watching every minute of that series so far, I just can't help but wonder whether we would need the heroic shots if Salmons had not wasted about 5 possesions per game on average. Nitpicking, I know, but still just wondering. Same could be said about Rose, but he's a rookie playing the most important position so I can give him a slight pass, even though he has to cut down on the turnovers in game 7 if the Bulls are to have a chance.
