Cole Aldrich

Don't sleep on this kid, he could be a useful rotation guy. He won't score too many baskets but he has size, plays physical, rebounds and block shots. The Kings need someone with those skill, it could be Aldrich who provides it. He's not a sure thing and barely got off the bench in his NBA career. But I'm hoping Smart gets him some mins and see what he can do.

Hes not small for his position. hes not a soft player. He can play decent defense. He played for OKC the season before last.

I liked him coming out of his draft class.

His Per36 numbers are about the same as Robinsons, with the one big difference being Aldrich blocks shots at much higher rate.

I like him, but I would be fairly shocked if he all of a sudden 'figured it out' for us. He needs playing time, and I don't think we'll be giving him any.

Cole is a bad player and he won't be here next season, sorry to break that to you all. No further analysis is needed.

We're not good at developing talent though. If he was any good, he would have gotten a chance in houston (do they have any centers blocking him)?

They do. So did Houston. And I'm not saying Cole is going to get a shot here, I'm just saying he didn't at his other stops.

In OKC He was behing Ibaka/Perkins/Collsion. In Houston he was behind Asik. In both cases (Perkins and Asik) he was playing behind players who are good at what he is supposed be good at (Rebounding/Defense/Shotblocking) ... We have a need for that here.

Again - I fully expect him to ride the bench, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see him play. I'd rather see him try and establish himself over watching Hayes.

3rd team in less than 3 years.

Even here, barring any other trades, he's at best a 4th big behind DMC, JT and PP. Possibly a 5th big behind Hayes as well.

This guy is nothing more than what we know which is a strange statement. Unless we got a big guy who was a real star or out of the world shotblocker, there is nothing wrong with having a #4 big who can block a few shots and knock people around. In other words, we shoot the moon and get a great player or save as much money to get a partial answer to what we need. We got the partial answer so he's not a wasted part of this trade.

The guy could legit be the most useless bigman in the whole NBA, Haseem Thabbet>Cole

Yeah, there's a reason OKC went forward with Thabeet instead of Aldrich, though it feels they have same problems: not agile or mobile enough, high center of gravity and inability to read the game. He certainly has no chance of seeing the floor alongside Boogie.

He sure has bounced around a lot and quickly. Played in the D league some too.

Don't know anything about him tbh.

He's just another Justin Williams/Hassan Whiteside type player. If he was any good he'd be getting more than a half dozen minutes a game. He's not going to be taking time away from Hayes and Patterson.

He's played less minutes in 3 years than TRob played this season. I'd assume there is a reason for that. Way to stay optimistic though guys.

Cole Adrich played the most his rookie season with OKC - 7.9 minutes a game. With Houston he played 7.1 minutes a game and averaged 1.9 rpg and about a point per game.

Patterson averaged 25.9 minutes/game with Houston and got a whopping 4.7 rebs per game. That's an impressive:eek: one rebound for every 5.5 minutes played. And that's in his third year and not for a young 3rd year player at that. What you see is what you get with Patterson. Oh what fantastic rebounding our team is going to have!:( If our rebounding was putride before Robinson was here, it's going to be amazingly putrid with Patterson. We're going to get obliterated on the boards.

Aldrich just needs to be given the green light.

Seriously though, we'll see how it plays out. He's at least a bigger body that could spell Cousins for 5-10. That's about all I'm expecting, though.

Half a dozen minutes a game? That's ten times more minutes than Whiteside gigot. Ten times better?

I watched Cole Aldrich in summer league. He sucked just as bad if not worse than T-Rob.

He was absolutely horrendous in Summer League. Legitly the worst player on the floor. Haven't seen anything from him this year but I don't think he turned much around. He's now on his third team this year.

His rebounding and shot blocking number per 36 aren't bad. His body is thicker than Whiteside so he won't be pushed around like a piece of paper. The folks who talked about Ostertag are about right. I don't expect him to be anything special. At most, a 12 minutes per game guy who blocks a shot and grabs 4 rebounds and fouls three times.

I'd still prefer to see him play over Hayes.

He had 14 minutes vs Portland which i watched and he played well.

6 points 4 boards and 2 blocks, some nice action in the pick and roll with Harden and some good contested boards on the defensive end, but got completely burned 2 or 3 times by Aldridge and was just too slow to do anything to him, managed to squash Meyers Leonard a couple of times though. Runs the floor pretty well for such a big body.

To be fair, Aldridge is an all-star. I don't expect Aldrich to slow him down one on one. He's going to be best as a weak-side shot blocker and lane clogger against drives.
