I urge EVERYONE to call him to let him know we support OUR new city owned downtown arena deal.

You can call him & leave a voice message. Just state the following...

1. Your name
2. Where you are from
3. You support OUR new city owned downtown arena for many reasons
4. Your number
5. See you on March 6

Again, rumor has it KEVIN MCCARTY is looking for holes in OUR new city owned downtown arena deal. Call him at 916-808-7006.

Please be polite & respectful. #FANS

Why is he doing this??? Can't he just vote no if he wanted to? So now we know atleast 3 people will vote no though, Sheedy, DFong, McCarty, and maybe Pannell. Dang this is really going to be a close vote. I don't get why he's doing this???

Doesn't matter how close the vote is as long as we've got 5.

I wouldn't panic too much yet. All of the council members who haven't seen the terms of the deal yet are going to look for any possible holes that might hurt the city down the road. I wouldn't expect them to do anything else. It is their job to protect the city. It doesn't automatically mean he's looking for a way to vote no.

I'll send all of them a e-mail. When the actual agenda goes up online for the March 6th meeting, you can send e-mails in then as public comment that becomes part of the official public input recorded on the agenda item.

I do believe McCarty votes YES next Tuesday for 2 reasons:

1. Senate Pro-Tem Darrell Steinberg is a staunch arena proponent

2. McCarty wants a run at State Senate...if he wants that, he needs Steinberg on his side.

My prediction:

6-3 YES

Ashby: Yes
R. Fong: Yes
Shinerer: Yes
Cohn: Yes
McCarty: Yes
Mayor Johnson: Yes...DUH!!
Sheedy: No
D. Fong: No
Pannell: No

GAME SET MATCH: CITY OF SACRAMENTO!!

Dude chill out. I know you've got a lot invested in this... but I sure as hell would be looking for holes in it too. In fact I have been. With decisions this big, you gotta make sure the boat's gonna float.

He better be looking for holes. Everybody should be looking for holes. When we find no more holes/have plugged them all, then we'll know we got a good deal here.

Pretty simple. Everybody has a duty to do their jobs, leave them to it. This thing won't pass because of favors or cheerleading, it will pass because it's a good deal and it makes sense for everybody. Otherwise, we'll get bit in the butt down the line anyway.

Looking for holes doesn't mean you're "against the arena".

I don't get why you've lost all reason and perspective either.

Freaked out and nervous lol. I just want it to pass. I know McCarty's doing his job at the moment but it still scares me. I really want this to pass.

I hear you brother. I'm with you. Just think how amazing this thing is going to be for this city!!! What this is going to do for the downtown... everything. Anywhere within about a 3 mile radius I think you're just going to feel in it's "shadow". It's going to have a magnetic field all it's own. It'll be one of those things that everybody will orient around when you're downtown. You'll always know which direction the arena is when you're walking around down there. It's just going to be amazing, frankly. And, it's going to be gorgeous. Right on the river... you can park across the river and walk the promenade if you want, walk across the bridge.

All the announces of opposing teams will be talking about it cause they'll enjoy their stay so much! Part of the whole cow town thing was because the arena was located in the middle of farmland basically. That whole image will shed easily with halftime and quarter time shots of the capitol building, a shiny new arena and bustling transit center and entertainment district, all along the shimmering water. They'll play up the whole "railroads and rivers" theme and history of the town. It will galvanize an identity in the national eye.

Plus, all the players can relax now! There's got to be a sense of relief and stability after all this. I know Cuz can see the potential of this whole situation. I get the feeling he's just tickled to have a chance to lead a franchise into a new era, with a new arena, a sparked local economy... yes he's young, but I get the feeling he lives for that grandeur and greater purpose. I can hardly contain myself... and I don't even live there anymore!!! Am I cray?

Agree with everything lol. Yeah Cousins is a different breed of player, he's more in the Durant or DRose mold than the LeBron or Bosh mold. He wants to lead his own team and put a city on his back. As long as this works out he'll have that chance. It's going to transform the city. Can you imagine getting an all star game and a piece of the olympics? Going to be amazing. Plus we may get Sweet 16s every other year for the NCAA tournament or maybe even a final 4. This is going to be really awesome.

Looking for holes doesn't mean you're "against the arena".

Could though. There are two ways to say "looking for holes". One way is defensive, i.e I am making sure we've dotted our i's and crossed our t's so that there won't be problems down the line. The other way is offensive; i.e. I'm looking for holes we can use to scuttle it. Not knowing McCarty's history on the arena I don't know which is more likely.

Oh, there is also "look at me anti-arena folks, I am doing mydiligence here, soing my job. Because even though I am going to vote yes I want you to now I am with you in spirit so please don't recall me.

Well, to be safe, I'm sending a "support the arena, its good for Sacramento" e-mail to McCarty. Probably send the same message to some of the other council members, too.

Correct me if I am wrong but...

No Sheedy and McCarty at today's arena press conference. I hope McCarty has a damn good reason on why not to be there.

Sheedy is Sheedy.

It's shameful that the most uneducated person on this subject in Sheedy did not show up. If she's going to halfass this as she has been she should lose her vote. Won't happen though.
