Artest, Salmons, Thomas. They get me angry, annoyed, or depressed just thinking about them. But Cisco....

He comes to play every night

He plays hard when he starts or when he comes off the bench, when he plays a lot of minutes or when he plays less.

He plays the same way, regardless of what group he is with on the floor - youngins or olders.

His outside shooting has been outstanding because of his excellent work habits.

He's a great team guy (nobody has ever hinted at him being otherwise).

He plays D.

He's very coachable.

He's proven he can hit clutch shots during pressure moments

The most important thing for him is whether his team wins or not.

He's a WINNER.

This is a guy that the Kings should resign to as long of contract as the possibly can. I don't see him getting complacent with a long term contract. He's the type of guy who'd love to play for 30K because that's what he loves to do.

i like your last point.. something ive noticed about garcia for a while but hasnt been mentioned all that much.. this guy LOVES TO PLAY. alot of these players look like they hate playing basketball.. which i cant understand, i love the game and play it as much as i could and i'd be extremely happy to be in the nba but that just isnt going to happen.. garcia doesnt take things for granted, and i usually give him a pass when he makes mistakes because he knows he made a mistake and actually looks like he cares about the mistake he made because of his constant hustle... so basicall, i agree =]

Garcia drives me absolutely nuts at times but I certainly agree that you cannot fault his heart, hustle or desire to play. And I would HATE to see him take the court against us. He's the kind of player every single team needs, provided we have a coach like Theus who can get the most out of him without breaking his spirit.

:)

yea i remember when he first came to sac every one said he could just shoot the lights out in practice but i never saw it, this years he has been just great from down town

I love his heart and love for the game, he's always looking and begging to take that big shot, I think he makes mistakes when he thinks too much about something, when he just goes out and plays he's awesome.

I love everything about Cisco except for his decision making. If the coaching staff could find him another 20 IQ points somewhere, I'd be very excited about his future. Since they can't, I do have mixed feelings, but have to agree with all of the positives you've listed.

Hey, if Cisco wants to sign an extension with us at vet's minimum, that's fine with me! But he'll be 27.5 years old when his rookie contract runs out, so let's not get carried away. I doubt that his game will be the same when he's pushing 33.

Can I just say that the one thing I love GP for is for hiring Reggie Theus. I think he can be a top coach in this league. This is the perfect situation for him. A team with low expectations and yet he is getting the most out of his players every night. He is a real pro' IMO.

And I'd agree about Garcia. While he's never going to be a star, he is an energy guy and seems to work really hard. And more importantly, he comes across as a very nice guy off the court. Basketball is just a game, Cisco will have so much more in life when his career is over. Thank you Francisco for giving everything you have every night. That's all we can, and should, ask of you.

The one thing I love about Garcia's "cons" is that he isnt out there trying to do it for himself. If he screws up trying to do too much, hes out trying to create something for his teammates. He wants to win, not put up stats.

Salmons is a great player and all, but at times it seems like he is just out there trying to create for himself and goes Artest on us by dominating the ball for 15 seconds and then doing what he has to do.

I think that as the season has gone on, his mistakes have become fewer. There's no debating his desire and fierce competitivness. I don't think that you can have a winning team without a player like Garcia on it.

I also beleive that his mistakes are magnified by the fact that he's young. If you look at the box score every game, you'll find others like Artest and Miller etc with more turnovers than Garcia. For some reason we just seem to accept them more from them. He's definitely a keeper.

In Miller's defense, he's basically the King's 2nd point guard. When you have a 7 foot center handling the ball and dishing out assists, he's bound to have more turnovers than a smaller player with better ball handling skills.

Love the thread...I don’t think that many people like to give Cisco credit but the guy deserves it. I think he makes mistakes but he’s limited them this year (thanks to actual playing time). I love his attitude, he come to play and win. He’s one of the leaders of the future for this team. He wants to take the shots, he enjoys the game and brings energy. Plus, I love the way he talks :p And he and Kevin, make an awesome duo.
