Charting the 2005-06 season

OK, I was bored, and feeling particularly dorky, and wanted to make some sort of visual aide to portray just how insane this turnaround is. So, I made a little chart, showing the Kings' progress. And, just for fun, threw in the Lakers' progress, as well as a marker for when the Artest trade went down.

I'm sure someone could do better, but I thought it was interesting.

Actually, that really works for the Engineer in me. Thanks for posting it.

Thats one passionate/intense little yellow dot.

you should make the "artest trade" mark a veticle line so its easier to show how once they got him, the whole graph to the right of that line just shot up

King Cookie-- As a civil engineer in another life, I love the graphs and numbers. Thanx for taking the time to graphically portray the seasons of LA and SACTown.

I'm a civil, too. What a coinky-dink. :D Spend most of my time playing in dirt, though, according to my wife.

Are there any reasons for those ups and downs? Instead of proclaiming artest is the man, we should find out why we had those big slumps? I wouldnt be half suprised if a starter was injured or a player just came back.

edit: I looked around a little, and it looked like the bench wasnt doing anyting, and the starters were inconsistent.

I'm actually trying to figure out how to do that...I did it with a pretty crappy program. I'll be updating it every few games if people like...

Yeah that would be nice, thanks KingCookie. I'm a visual person, so it's nice to see something like this. :D

I like the visual, now we can keep going up and lakers keep going down.:D

Your wish is my command...kind of...;)

The Kings are back at the "peak" of their season again...can they reach the coveted "3 games over .500 mark"??? We shall see tomorrow. Lakers, meanwhile, are leaving the back door open a bit.

I was also considering doing a graph for the Hornets, just because they have completely turned around their season...in the worst way...

Update for 04/07/06...getting closer, only 6 games left for each team...Kings one game back...yet again a chance to go 3 games over .500 for the first time all season...our third shot at it...third times a charm? It is the Clippers...

Updated 04/10/06.

Only 4 games left to go, and we've caught the Lakers yet again. New high-water marks have been set two games in a row, going 3, then 4 games above .500. What a turnaround this season has been...

Nice work, KingCookie.

The turnaround of our Kings is really pretty indisputable when you see it in black and white (well, and purple and with a yellow dot).

Thanks!

Why, you're welcome, VF21.

You know, when I started doing that, I really hoped it would end up looking like it is now. Pleasantly surprised.

Great Work!!

This makes it even more clear of Ron's impact.

You correctly have STRONG lines for the KINGS and
Weak lines for the Lakers!!

Don't know how I've missed this thread in the past couple of days, but I am finally catching up with board threads. :o

At any rate, King Cookie, I very much appreciate your diligence. That is a great pictorial of the Kings season, especially in relation to Ron's arriving in a Kings uniform. Very nice work!!!! :)

Updated 04/17/06...hopefully the next (and last) time I do this, the Kings and Lakers will have end on the same dot, meaning we will have the 7th seed...the Kings have yet again reached a new high-water mark- 5 games over .500...
