Vince Carter for Ron Artest, Kenny Thomas
BOBCATS
Adam Morrison/Gerald Wallace, Melvin Ely for Vince Carter
KINGS
Ron Artest, Kenny Thomas for Melvin Ely, Adam Morrison/Gerald Wallace

If NJ isn't going to resign Carter, it's better trade him than loose him for nothing in return, and I don't know if they are going to receive much better offers for basically a one year rental Carter.

The Bobcats get a superstar at a low price, a 6th big and one of their SFs. And rumors are that Carter could sign with the Bobcats this summer, and they have the salary space for resign him.

The Kings get one of the young SFs of Cha. I don't know which do you prefer, so your choice: Morrison for the old Kings style of play or Wallace for the new "defensive" Kings. And we get a useful PF/C for the bench.

I think Charlotte would much rather just wait until the offseason and try to sign Vince Carter as a free agent rather than giving up talent to get him now.

I really doubt Gerald Wallace and Ely resign with the Bobcats next season, and that's the low cost to get Vince Carter. And if they want Carter, it's better for them get him now than let NJ have their bird rights, with the possibility of a sign and trade in the offseason.

In that scenario, I'd prefer Wallace. No offense to Morrison, whom I respect a great deal for his battle with diabetes, but he would somewhat replicate what we already have in K-Mart. Wallace has a lot of injury problems, but at his best, his defense, energy and athleticism can be very valuable. Pity we didn't get a chance to see much of those things when he belonged to the Kings, but I guess he needed to move on to get a fire lit under his rump.
