Celtics vs. Pacers (Game 6)

Paul Pierce gets ejected on a second technical foul that was BS. He swung his arm to get Jamal Tinsley off of him. Reggie Miller shot the free throw, tied the game, then Pacers picked Perkins to shoot the free throws on the foul committed. He missed both. It's a tie game, Pacers ball, 12 seconds left.

I have been watching this game, and I think it was the right call. Paul lost his head....it was a stupid move.

Celtics win in OT, so it did not hurt them in the long run, but it could have ended their season.

Sorry, but I'm with the refs on this one. And PP almost flushed his team's post season down the toilet. Stupid and inexcusable in a veteran, IMHO. He's extremely lucky he got bailed out with a win. (I'm still mad at A Peeler for his suspension last year, the dummy!)

That was not a good call, imo. They didn't have a grasp of what happened. It was one of those "let's congregate and decide if we should make the call after the fact or not". If you don't see something clearly enough to make a definitive call immediately, then don't make the call at all. Pierce didn't throw a punch, didn't try to hit the Pacer, didn't knock him down. The Pacer flopped (clearly). Finally, the refs were trying to influence the outcome of a playoff game on a wishy-washy call.

Bogus. That's the type of situation where referees need to be definitive one way or another. If that was one of our players, we'd feel a lot differently.

Just because Pierce would've had more common sense to stand there and not move at all after getting hit in the head, it doesn't absolve the refs from making an improper call.

I disagree, Garg. The reach that inadvertantly hit Pierce on the side of the face was just a hard foul.

No doubt it was a good acting job, however, Paul pushed him off. Paul, himself, said that he should not have lost his cool.

No he didn't throw a punch, but he certainly threw an elbow and shoved (flop exaggeration or not), when it wasn't at all necessary. He was not called for a foul after all, he was called for a technical. He was going to get the foul call, why make that stupid move?

In that situation, with game on the line, I'd rather the refs confer to be sure about calling a technical on one team's star player when it meant an ejection on a 2nd technical.

Agreed, but the first T seemed a bit, shal I say, Javviesque... Not realy deserving of a T in other words.

He didnt even really push him..... he swung his arm back and before any contact even happened tinsley was on the floor, cuz he flopped.....

The refs should never decide a game like that in the playoffs... they needed to review it and make the correct call! If the celtics would have lost, it would be a bigger issue!

side note: sup with Stephen Jackson? i just seen him in an interview and he was heated about something...... about a teammate or something.. could someone tell me what that was all about?

I was definitely impressed with Doc Rivers convinving his team that "we are going to win this game" before overtime started. That's showing a lot of confidence for a team on the road without their superstar.

They can't review plays like that.
