Casspi is Wanted (Alive and kicking)

Mr. Hide

Prospect
It is now on:
www.sport5.co.il

Casspi is wanted also by: Dallas, Cleveland and Toronto, Togather with New york and Chicago (were already published). it means that 5 groups now looking for him for his cheap contract and known skills. If you ask me, I suggest to leave him in kings because lately they started to act like a group, and seems to me they are on the right track to build a good team. In the kings Omri can get the maximal exposure. Running to other groups will sure bench him and now he only start to flourish in the kings.

Yeah...why in the WORLD would we want to give up on a 1st round pick with TONS of skills that is still developing?? NOT going to happen...

Petrie took a chance on Casspi and it has paid off. BUT it better only pay off for the Kings. Casspi better not be going anywhere.

I would be super pissed if Casspi was traded. He's my favorite King after Cousins. If he is traded, it damn well better be in exchange for someone who is GOOD and not some middling vet or another young guy with potential..

Casspi and Greene and Bobby J. were the assets GP got for Artest. GP picked Casspi with the pick he got from that trade. I don't see why a rebuilding team gives up on Casspi unless its part of a deal where they get a Carmello or a Chris Paul type player.

Casspi has a fire in him. After Cousins and Tyreke, Casspi is the Kings best player.

Why Casspi? I don't get it.

Why not? He's young, talented, and in a lot of those cities his heritage would attract fans. And he's cheap. For those same reasons I'd keep him, barring a trade for someone thats a no brainer.

Rarely do you get great return value with players like Casspi unless it's part of a much bigger package for a top player. If they're looking to package him with Garcia or something in order to dump salary, they're likely going to lose out in the end. It just seems weird to trade him since he fits with this team better than a lot of other players do. I guess trade high and all, but I don't think Casspi's production is overachieving. I mean, like anything else, I'll wait and see, but it seems odd to me.

Other than Cousins, Casspi was the only player Petrie singled out by name in the recent radio interview. He said he had been impressed with Casspi's improvement. Unless the Kings get back somebody that is quite good, I doubt he's going anywhere.

Maybe I misunderstood you. I certainly wasn't making a case for the Kings trading Casspi. I was making a case for why other teams would want him. I don't want to trade him. Unless we get back a Gerald Wallace or someone else of similar ilk.

various teams having interest in him doesn't really mean anything -- I would in fact think its fairly obvious that various teams would, same way they would for almost any young talented player on a struggling team.

Doesn't mean a thing though unless WE are interested. And while I consider Casspi far from untouchable, I have a hard time imagining why we would move him unless some team was offering some major player as part of a larger package. He's been a bit disappointing so far this season, but he's still young, cheap and talented, so what would our motivation be to trade him for just a guy? I can't really see it unless he is chafing behind the scenes at the platoon dystem, we want to clarify the SF spot, and/or we were to trade him for a need at another one of our overstocked positions. But just to trade him...of course teams are interested, but I struggle to imagine why they think we would be.

They had the #8 pick and used it on Jordan Hill.

Oops... it's hard to keep track of what NY has for draft picks with the way they've traded them most every year.

So, 8 was too high for Casspi and we grabbed him pretty much where everyone said he would go in the draft. Right place at the right time I guess. (thanks Houston for losing those last couple games)

All of those teams have players I would like, and if this teams puts all its eggs in the Cousins/Evans basket ... a SF would be the logical 3rd guy. Not sure Casspi will ever develope into the 3rd best player on a contending team.

With NY I would consider something with Randolph and Toney Douglas.

With the Raps, I'd think about two of Ed Davis, Sonny Weems, and Jerryd Bayless.

Dallas has Dominique Jones and Roddy Beaubois. I would do a Roddy for Casspi trade easily.

And the Cavs have Hickson ( would look nice next to Cousins ) Varajao ( again, like him next to Cousins ) and Gibson.

These teams DO have the kind of pieces I would be looking for, but thats just me.

I might do that NY deal, although its young unproven guys for young unproven guys the Randolph deal continues to intrigue and DOuglas is a second quality young piece/shooter, and Varejao could be the nice (and big) experienced veteran defender to put next to Cousins. But the rest of those names are just random young guys, and potentially worse fits as they don't shoot (or in Hickson's case ae 5'8" non-rebounding "power" forwards).

I'm getting cold feet. I'm dead against trading a young player until you're 90% sure of what you got. I was all in favour of trending Spencer (or Thompson) but we still don't know what we've got with Omri. Maybe he can be our SG to Donte's SF. Anyway I would be plenty upset if the Kings traded him and X in a salary dump.

Hey exGrizzly, was it "the shot" that swayed you? ;)

Edit: Guess I should have looked at your join date before I said that.

No, I just don't want to be the perenially bad team who trades its players before they're good. Trade Landry for nothing (hopefully a late first round pick) and keep the kids.

I don't want to start another trade rumor or another thread about such, but Kenny Smith on TNT tonight mentioned Dalembert would be a really nice fit in Orlando to back up Howard for their stretch run. No doubt, with Gortat gone they could really use a shot blocker like Sammy to spell Dwight. Do Magic have any decent pieces (Ryan Anderson? w/ his only $1.4M) we'd consider or would they give us something more than just a #2 draft pick? Could we package it with another Kings player to really make deal a smash hit - maybe get a #1 pick back? Heck, I'd do it for local Sac product Anderson since we know Daly is gone at end of this season.

He's also gotten more minutes. Right after the first rumor broke, he had the first 30+ min game, and with more minutes comes more production.

Also, knowing that a number of good teams are trying to acquire you can be a big confidence booster, which might be somewhat in play here.

Ehhh Ryan Anderson really isn't what we need. If we could put together a package to get Bass, I would love that. He's still only 25 and is playing quite well, I think he would fit perfectly with what we want to do.
