I think the pre-season was understandable but all of a sudden he's struggling in the Season aswell I hope nothing is wrong with him cause this isn't the same Bibby I have witnessed over the past few years :(

The whole team has been sucking a** actually but I'm surprised with the way Bibby is playing he is our Leader right now he needs to step up.

What about Pedja it was not just Bibby that sucked ***. That was pathetic.
Agreed. Pedja, Mike and just about every bencher has been ordinary so far. Mike and Pedja will get out of the slump eventually and I hope its sooner rather than later.

I also wish our bench would actually give us something during games because in the last 4-5 games (including pre-season) they have been non-existant.

This team will take time to gel and when it does it will be MUCH better than what we are seeing now. This team is still VERY capable of a 50 win season.

Obviously; we have enough time to gel as a team but from what I see this team has lost everything from Identity to lack of passing. I think I will be okay if we just get 45 wins and make the playoffs.

One player can not make victories alone. We need team,we need our chemistry.I don't have cance to watch Kings games this season, but I think I saw in the other thread some post in which someone said that Kings played very good and unselfish basketball in the first quarter last night...that is the way of winning..

This team was never going to have the same identity of the Kings teams prior to this one.

Quite simply this is not a team yet. Its a roster of talented players that are still trying to learn things about each other. Generally when players aren't used to each other they like to go solo, because they have more trust in themselves than they do in their team mates. When these players get to trust each other and believe in each other, when they get used to each other, things like passing and identity will come along.

Comparing the team that started off last year and this current team, there are only 4 players remaining from that roster. This time will build it identity as the season goes on. Its the roster that gives the team their own identity.

A bit of patience. Season is a marathon, not a sprint ;)

Where's the Bibby driving to the hole and kicking out or finishing? I see him tripping and such. He looks like he's wearing ice-skates sometimes. What's up?

I am not sure what his problem is, but I beleive that he will fix it. I like that he is taking the blame on himself.

His quote in the sacbee:

"I don't think I'm asserting myself enough," Bibby said. "I don't know. I'm not hitting shots, I'm not doing anything. It's two games, and I know what I'm capable of doing. ... I do anything in these two games, we win."

I am not sure if i posted the link correctly. Hopefully someone else will if I did not.

Its only the 2nd game of the season. granted we look horrible but the players really dont know each other yet. give them time to gel and we shall see in a month or so.

I agree with Hoops... One thing I'll be looking for next game (not til sunday, so long!) is Mike trying to get to the basket or at least to the stripe. He's pretty good at takig it to the rack and in case he's forgotten, someone should lightly tap him on the shoulder and remind him. This doesn't mean pass up wide open looks, just explore the lane a little bit, make a dish off, draw a foul, change it up. Because the shot-chucking just isn't working right now. it might later, but please Mike? Just try something a little different?

All those 18-23ft shots create long rebounds where we have a hard time snagging O-boards or even controlling the break off the rebound.

Peja's not as accomplished at it, but I think he could benefit from a little time moving to the hoop as well For some reason I'm not as worried about him though, not sure why...maybe its because inspite of a sub-par effort, Peja's been on the bad side of some tough bounces off the rim, lots of "down-and-out"s and such. Maybe I'm just overly confident.

Don't think either guy has forgotten how to shoot, but nether guy is going to win many one on one games and need things to settle down and get a little structured so that they can get comfortable.

Honestly, I think this team needs some home-cookin'. Tough for such a new team to start out with a difficult schedule on the road.

This three day break right now is well timed and should help. Had a few things go positive for us in Houston. Get a few days to work on it, and then go to face an undersized team missing its superstar not known for defense. I'd be a little disappointed if we don't look significantly better on offense come Sunday.

You can rest assured that neither Bibby or Peja wants to continue to miss shots.

We all tend to expect them to be in mid-season form...

Mike said he took it a little easier this off-season than he normally does because he was exhausted. He'll return to form. I have no doubt of that.

It's been two games.

Patience, grasshoppers.

;)

the funny thing is, that this is a contract season for peja.... he should be scoring 40 against the hornets..... that was just sad....

bibby should be fine, nash brings out the best in bibbys offense...

a poor contract season wouldn't be such a bad thing;)

We are only two games into the regular season, and both games have been on the road. Not the best way to start the season, from what I see we can only get better.
It's not fun to watch your team lose when there is so much hope for them, being a new season and the retooling of players. This is a fresh team, in regards to playing together. Everyone is still finding their niche and developing the player chemistry we all crave to see. I have every faith in the players and coaching staff that this team will gel and when it does, watch out!
To those fans who may be skeptical just remember ya gotta keep the faith!
Think about how the players are feeling.....We all need to stay positive and support our Kings, during the losing streaks as well as the winning.
Stay tuned, you'll see what I mean.

Mike has put on some weight and muscle.

Could this be affecting his shot?

That argument's been made. Not sure I buy it. And still wouldn't explain why he looks completely zoned out out there. All that saavy etc. is just AWOL right now. Looks roughly as sure of himself and the game as Ronnie Price. Think most of his problmes are in his head rather than physical (while allowing for the possibility he could be a little physically off thus robbing him of confidence).

So good points here… I think Mike’s outside shooting is hurting us. If his shot isn’t falling he needs to drive and kick it out. 18-20 foot jumpers do create long rebounds and mismatches on the other end of the floor. Should Mike stop shooting, NO, but I do believe his number of shots should go down a bit. I would love to see Mike become a “true” point guard with the ability to knock down the “3” (helps with spacing).

Mike's been pissing me off lately and that includes last season with all that talk about leadership and now he's not acting like one.

Doug Christie would've been a better Leader I don't think Bibby is ready to be a Leader yet.

you mean Jackie would have been a better leader.

I'm always a bit suspect of guys who say "I'm the leader" -- sort of like Al Haig announcing, "I'm in charge!" If you're the leader, go out there and lead. If you do, people will follow. Just saying it doesn't get the job done.

I like Mike, really. But I've always been of a mind that he's a bit overrated: A clutch shooter, to be sure, and a good scorer, but poor defensively, not quick or fast by point guard standards, relatively small, and not (from what I've seen) particularly charismatic. If he's going to be the leader, he's going to have to work at it a bit.

Will Mike come around? Probably. I certainly hope so, and, yes, it's too early to panic. But I'd be less nervous if he hadn't gone through an absolutely dreadful preseason. He scored 20 in the preseason finale against the Lakers, but he shot 36 percent for the preseason. It's not like what we've seen in the first two regular-season games is an aberration.

I think this "contract year" bit is a bit of hype up by both media and the fans. While I do agree that some players would work a lot harder during the off-season to set themsevles up for a great year, I hardly doubt that once they take the court to play in a game that counts that they will be thinking about the contract.

Its not like every time Pedja takes a shot he thinks to himself "I better make this one if I want to get the max". ;)

It has een 2 games so far. If he doesn't shoot well in the next couple of games, THEN we will have problems because the Kings have a 3 day break before there next game. For Peja it wioll come naturallly because he is a shooter and thats is what will happen to Peja.
