Breaking news...Adelman era over (merged)

The gold jerseys.......LOL. But honestly, these guys have made the Kings a franchise to be reckoned with. I am an RA fan and if I owned the Kings I would have signed him for another 4-5 years. However, my opinion on the matter does not change my opinion this matter - the Maloofs are on the short list of top owners in the league.
agreed. But, like you, I wish they'd stick with Adelman. They are great owners, but they're human too, and capable of mistakes. I hope this doesn't end up being a big one.

Too be defensive minded you need players that are Defensive minded, You must spend over the salary cap to obtain those Defensive minded players. The kings led the league in field goal defensive percentage 2002-2003, Defense was instructed, But the last 3 seasons the Kings didn't have the defensive tools to become a defensive minded ball club. Your defensive anchors in the starting lineup in the front and back were liabilities in mike bibby at the point of Defensive penetration and Brad miller the goalie. You must have the players that can play Defense for you to be Defensive minded
What I said was we are headed in that direction, not that we are there right now. And while yes we held teams in 2002-2003 to a low field goal percentage, if you watched those games you would know that our defense was far less smothering than say a Detroit or San Antonio. RA did a nice job, I am not saying he can't coach defense, all I am saying is that it is not the end of the world getting rid of him and acquiring a MORE defensive minded coach.

Because they direspected the best coach this franchise has ever had? Because of the gold jerseys? Because of their stupid decisions? The only thing good they have done is to push for Ron Artest. I wont deny that. But they SUCK. Hard.

Rick Adelman meant more to this team to me than those two bozos do.

Next stop Las Vegas.
There wont be a pro sports franchise in LV for at least another 10-15 years...its not THAT easy to wipe an entire sport off every board at every casino...too much revenue, thats what has to happen for their to be a pro sports team there...thats another topic though...sorry.;)

The thing is we don't know who they're getting. And regardless of who next assumes the mantle of head coach for the Sacramento Kings, he can only do so much. It's Geoff Petrie's job to find more players with a defensive mindset, IMHO...

If this is true, I'm glad to see Adelman going. I wanted him gone throughout the season, he makes very questionable decisions, especially when the game is on the line. I remember numerous times where I've said to myself - "Why does he have this lineup in to start the 3rd?" "Why is Brad Miller in over Shareef" "Why isn't Kevin Martin in, Bonzi has 9 turnovers" etc etc. Adelman is an offensive minded coach who is soft and doesn't enforce defense in my opinion. We need someone who brings toughness and an edge to the team, Adelman never brought that. Avery Johnson won coach of the year, and he's an "in your face" type coach who does NOT let you get away with mistakes. He's very defensive minded, and look what it's done for the Mavs. I give a big kudos to Avery and the Maloofs for making this move.

Who's the Defensive minded coach out there, That will do a Better Job in your opinion. What is this Great defensive Guru's name

I was just beginning to fell positive about the team again.

I am disappointed. I think that this actually makes me more sad than I thought it would. I REALLY hope they have a good plan already in mind for the new coach.

I hope that I am wrong in thinking that this is going to end up hurting us more than helping.

Who is this tough Guy that you are talking about.

i like stan van gundy as a coach. i'd like a coach that would develop some of the young guys we have instead of playing the vets all the time even tho we aren't going anywhere w/ this current squad.

Indeed...and for those who are wanting to know, Don Nelson CAN coach a defensive-minded team, his Bucks of the mid 80's were one of the best of the decade, with Paul Pressey, Alvin Robertson, Alton Lister, etc.

Rick adleman was instrumental in the Developemet of Kevin martin by telling kevin martin to think like Richard hamilton, Very innovative move by rick's part in observing the facts that kevin martin had a similar style of game as Rip. This lead to kevin being consistent at the free throw line and coming off of curls shooting the basketball the right way with high percentage. Wher is this Great coach that will develope the young player at.

The Maloof's don't suck!!!!!!! They brought Artest here. Whatever is going to happen I am going to be cool with it. I would prefer to have a more defensed minded coach here rather than the Don Nelson crew..but whatever.

Lighten up on the Maloof's will yah..

I am saddened and outraged about this turn of events. Adelman is going to be a hard act to follow. *sigh* What *are* the Maloofs thinking?

who is this Defensive minded coach

Here I am watching General Hosptial and then look up and see the news10 breaking news ticker that Rick will not be brought back! This is not what I expected. I did suspect that the Kings front office had already made a decision, but the staff didn't even have their end of year meeting in Vegas yet!

This is sad, we are losing not only one hell of a coach, but a coaching staff as well. Elston Turner, Pete Carril, TR Dunn, Bubba Burrage and the countless scouts. As I have said in another post, IMHO this coaching staff deserves to be back. A disappointing day in Kings history :(

Now what? Who else are going to get who's better?

People are entitled to their opinions. They were also pretty vocal when the Maloofs went behind Petrie's back and approached Phil Jackson's coach. Fans - a lot of whom spend THOUSANDS of dollars every year in season tickets - have EVERY right to protest a decision they do not think is in the best interest of "their" team.

It's pretty much what message boards are all about. And notice they're talking about the Maloofs and a business decision. They're not making it into a personal vendetta or anything.

This is a huge change for the Kings. Some will support it but the prevailing opinion right now is that it is quiestionable to say the least...

telling a player to be something is one thing, allowing him grow into that position is another. if it weren't for bonzi going down midseason and forcing adelman's hand to play kmart... kmart wouldn't be as confident in his game.

I have a feeling that not only have they(Maloofs) decided on a coach, they also have decided on NOT re-signing Bonzi, too. I think that they are taking the 'cheap' route and handing over the SG position to Martin, but THAT will play out in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned for a VERY interesting offseason...

Oh please. Kevin Martin had the talent and he worked very hard over this past summer to hone his skills and be ready.

Your comment about Adelman not playing Kevin is WRONG. Kevin was already starting to be a legitimate off-the-bench performer when he stepped up because of Bonzi's injuries. That wasn't in spite of Adelman.

Also, with Adelman gone, there goes Brad Miller, because Carill and them will no longer run the princeton offense and need Miller, we have a brutal game now, not a flashy offensive powerhouse.

Yikes! I hope you're wrong about Bonzi. I love KMart, but I think keeping Bonzi is important.

I hope I'm wrong too, but I think Joe, Gavin and Geoff have made quick decisions regarding a few issues as to allow them more time to focus on 'pieces and directions'
