What are your thoughts on getting a guy like Brandon Rush to play in the backcourt next to Tyreke? I've made it pretty clear that I'm on the "We need a SG, not a PG" side of the fence, and I think Rush could be a realistic example of a player that could be a good fit next to Tyreke. Or he at least fits the bill of the type of player I'd like the Kings to try and use in the backcourt.

The question is, what would it take for the Pacers to part with him? They're playing some good basketball this year and look like a playoff team in the East. They're starting Josh McRoberts at PF, so that seems to be their weakest link. Maybe they're a team that could use a Landry? Personally I don't see them giving up on Rush, but I believe he was in O'Brien's doghouse at the beginning of the season, so ya never know.

Thoughts?

Not a big fan of Rush. He likes to shoot more than he can.

He's averaged just over 8 shots a game for his career, which isn't excessive. Last year he shot 41% from behind the arc which is excellent. This year so far, not so good at around 32%. But the season is young, so he still has a lot of time to get his average up. He's a young player at 25 years of age. So I'll put it this way. He would be better a the SG position than anyone else we have right now. Not sure thats a big endorsement though.

Don't think the Pacers are in a hurry to trade Rush. He's their defensive stopper (you can argue that anyone is a defensive stopper when the alternative is Mike Dunleavy but whatever) and he's on the verge of claiming the starting SG spot. Why would they trade him for an undersized PF who may walk away in the summer?

On another note, has never been too impressed with Rush but if he continues his impressive play I will have to take a second look.

Because they need a starting caliber PF much more than they do another SG and they're in the (l)eastern conference where even the Kings as currently constituted could have a shot at the playoffs oh and they'd get his Bird rights and Larry Bird is in Indiana.

Yeah, that's actually realistic on some levels -- the Pacers even came out and said they were wing-heavy before the season and that they might look to do something, and their hole is at PF. So kudos. Now Rush...eh, its not a bad idea, but the dude may have off court issues. I guess we could swap Wright's DUI's for Rush's drugs. The other thing is if there is any lingering stupidity on the Kings part, not wanting to get lambasted for trading Kevin for Landry for Rush. But we talk about wanting a defensive guy who can shoot back there with Reke, and full sized so Reke gets to eat opposing PGs for lunch, and there he is.

Well why not give Cisco a try at starting next to Tyreke. Haven't alot of us said all along that Garcia fits the bill???

I thought about that when making this thread, and I find it odd that Westphal hasn't at least tried it, since he does seem to be a pretty good fit.

As for Rush, I wasn't a fan of his at all coming out of college. I honestly didn't think he'd do much in the NBA, but he's proved me wrong. I like what I see from him on the court, and he's exactly the kind of player I'd want next to Tyreke if we're playing him at PG, which we should. Rush is young, big, good shooter, good defender, and doesn't dominate the ball, and he might even be available for the right price. The off-court issues do worry me though. If only we still had Adelman...

Not that it matters much in the grand scheme of things but here is what Brandon Rush had to say on his Twitter account today upon arriving in Sacramento:

"Sacramento has to be the worst NBA City" or something to that effect -- after he got slammed by others for having the nerve to talk about Sac, being that he plays in Indiana, he quickly deleted his tweet.....lol

Laugh out loud, ouch! Nobody seems to like Sacramento I see. Didn't Brandon Jennings last year clown on Sac as well?

It seems to be one of those "in" things to do - slam Sac, and I'm sure they really don't have any particular reason as to why. They just hear others do it and think they will be cool and follow suite.

I don't think theres really a reason for it other than we are a bottom dweller and it's easy to kick us while were down. It's sad and pathetic to do, but that's how it goes when you have guys with not much IQ and speak out on things that should be kept amongst themselves.

Think about what they actually see...they land at SMF and drive about 5-10 minutes down the highway to Arco and see PASTURES. That's it. These guys don't know what they're talking about when they 'see' Sacramento. They see WOODLAND/Natamas essentially.

Yeah i don't really understand how Jennings or Rush would be ripping a city in California when they're playing in Milwaukee and Indy respectively

Without wanting to support the bashing of Sacramento, I can only assume that they probably stay at a nice downtown hotel for the night -- pretty hardocre franchise to have them just hop off the plane and go to the game. ;)

Yeah true, but even then the point still is there...that's not much of a drive of Sacramento. And downtown does suck.
