Dime Dropper
All-Star
Just curious as to what people think of this guy. If we managed to nab another first rounder I'd like to get my hands on him. He is an excellent athlete and a very good shooter. He's a combo-guard, but that's nothing to worry about when he'll be next to Tyreke. In fact, that's precisely what we need. Another guard who can dribble and play some point but who can also play the two effectively.
Strengths:
Excellent athlete, extremely quick and can get up off the ground.
Very good form on his shot, able to create seperation.
Good ball-handler.
Great length (6'7'' wingspan) - plays tough defense, very active and works hard on that side of the ball.
Good leadership qualities. Talks alot.
Weaknesses:
Only 6'2'' or 6'3''. No real position? Didn't show (advanced) PG skills in college.
Had trouble finishing at the rim under pressure.
Sometimes goes into scorer-mode, prone to bouts of tunnel-vision.
Avery could be a good fit next to Evans. However, would he take away our mismatch in size? Possibly. Will he ever develop into the player he possibly could be? Will his passing develop to where it needs to be?
Certainly it seems that Avery has the talent to be a very good player. But he is a combo guard. Right now he doesn't have the ability to play full time PG and he may be too small to play SG. Still, he has home-run talent and at this stage for the Kings, he is the type of pick we could use.
Here's a mix of him from highschool for anyone who's not familar with him:
