Bobby Jackson

I was kinda annoyed that Bobby was in the game down the stretch, when he played so terribly and Donte was playing so well, but I guess I didn't know about Theus' bottled fountain of youth water

haha im glad Bobby got a good end like that, he needed those shots. He has been giving us alot of hustle but his shot hasnt really been there. Great Job Bobby! Welcome back

Bobby sucks! While I'm glad he bailed us out tonight, his game is resembling that of street ballers out at Carmichael Park or something. He shakes and bakes and misses 60% of his shots.

Bobby always has that fierce spirit! I feel like he's a better option on the road, he knows how to handle those environments and on a good night like this he comes up with those momentum changing plays like that steal helping down on West.

It wasn't just the shots he made down the stretch. His defense on the other end (against Paul) was phenominal.

GOTTA LUV DA HUSTLE!!

I don't really know everyone too well on here so I don't know if you're one of them sarcastic cats, but don't ever(as smokey in Friday would say) ever ever ever talk about bobby like that haha j/k. Seriously though I love bobby and he's everything around here.

I never understood the love for Bobby. Sure he had some good years here but he was hurt all the time.

but when he played he played his heart out its like another guy i met who said whats so good about christie and Divac? i was like are you kidding me?

they may not be impact players like lebron melo or wade but when they play you cant hate em.. i have more respect for players who play for the love of the game than those who play just to prove something...

Right, We think Bobby is great for the same reasons that Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton are so great. It's because they care, dangit!

You're being far to kind to him. My advice is to totally ignore him. There are many intelligent and knowledgable people on this fourm. He has chosen to not be amongst them.

If you don't get it, don't worry about. Just let it slide. Don't kill the buzz, dude.

Bobby Jackson regular season games played when he was with us back in 2000-2005:

2000-01: 79 games played
2001-02: 81 games played
2002-03: 59 games played
2003-04: 50 games played
2004-05: 25 games played

294/410 = 71%

Oh I get it. I just choose not to love a guy who gets so much credit for "heart" yet he missed nearly 30% of the games for us back in the glory years.

Webber played 73% of the games. Does it mean that he had no heart either ?

Bobby Jackson will always be welcome in arco, and will always be on of my fav players. But yesterday was a fluke game. He wasn't looking good at all in the first half. He refused to pass to Bobby Brown when he was open, instead he turned it over at one point twice in a row.

He cant do what he did yesterday on a consistent basis and once we get to the All-Star break i dont wanna see him playing so many mins. if at all.

We're not talking about Webber. I was only posting those facts on Bobby because I was accused of "not getting it." Obviously, I'm not a big Bobby Jackson fan. I don't hate the guy, but I just find it interesting that he has such a cult following here after playing in only 71% of his games when he was a King.

You do realize how serious those injuries were, right? Not playing, because of a bad injury doesn't mean "not having heart."

He was 6th Man of the Year. He stepped up huge for us as PG when Bibby had a broken foot. It was hearbreaking to see him badly injured 3 seasons in a row, because we lost an impact player, but I will never question Bobby's heart.

He certainly isn't what he once was (who is?), but I know every time he steps on the court he will play with as much heart, hustle and effort as anyone and more than most. Not only that, but he is the consummate professional and is a great guy. He's the type of vet you want around our young guys.

I was happy to see him have a clutch game last night. :)

I ordinarily try to stay out of these fanboy discussion, particularly considering Bobby Jackson isn't even in my top 20 favorite former or current Kings and I was generally underwhelmed by his return.

But this comment was completely off-base and totally uncool.

-In '03 Jackson suffered a broken hand
. Ever tried to dribble, shoot, write, put on a glove, pick up a glass or even tolerate a broken hand?

-In '04 he had an unspecified abdominal injury. Now aside from causing blinding pain upon any type of movement (you'd be surprised just how much movement the abdominal muscles are responsible) the real worry is suffering futher trauma, leading to internal bleeding causing up to and including death. Abdominal pain is one of those we don't mess around with.

-In '05 Jackson simply had a lil ole wrist injury requiring surgery and three months of rehab in which he solicited several doctor's opinions.

Now at this point, I must admit I'm confused. Are you questioning Jackson's heart and spirit because he suffered those injuries in the first place or because he simply didn't play through them?

If it's the former, then that's a Zen-Tai Chi psychosomatic placebo-Karma thing that's been debated ad infinitum by far greater medical minds than we and I neither have the ability nor inclination to disucss.

However, if it's the latter then it's exactly the archaic attitude surrounding injury in athletics that needs and deserves to be eradicated.

These weren't simple scrapes, bruises or aches and pains. These were significant injuries that rendered Jackson ineffective and potentially an on-court liability, not to mention threatened his personal well-being and career (but who cares about that right.)

You wouldn't want a firefighter with a broken leg trying to save your house. You wouldn't want a doctor with a head cold operating on you. Why do we expect and demand it from our entertainers?

And the true irony is, while you decry Jackson's extended absenses due to injury as evidence of his lack of heart, in truth, those injuries were probably made more serious after he repeatedly played through and ignored relatively minor injuries until his body shut down on him completely.

not to mention, one of those broken wrists was the direct result of driving right into shaquille o'neal and having the guy break his wrist when he went for the ball. think about the size difference and what he was attempting, then rethink the stance of "bobby has no heart."

Actually O'Neal smashed several bones in his hand. No fouled called, because the hand is part of the ball. The ball was not injured, tho. ;)

Isn't this the same Bobby Jackson that played with a broken eye-socket/ cheekbone injury in the playoffs back in the day? I forget who we were playing, but Bobby ran right into an elbow pick and had his face smashed but came out the next game to ball.

Most guys would have sat out. Not Bobby.
