Bobby Brown

G-League
When do we start him? if ever.
I think we should soon. just see what we have in him. he sure is alot more exciting than beno. Although it's only been four games it doesnt look like we will be winning that much this season so why not? If nothing else we bring his trade value up. Most people here think pg is our biggest need and want to draft one. Bobby is a rookie so hes plenty young and has plenty of time to develop. In last nights game as soon as bobby B went in andre miller had to work harder and our whole team went off of bobby's defense and steped it up. Why not start him? or play him alot more minutes?

Coach Reggie sticking to his "they have to earn their minutes" attitude. That's the way it should be but on the road they likely only had one practice in the 6 days they were gone and it's only been in the last 2 games when things really began to be bad.

Bobby has a way to go to get under control and be more a PG than a shoot first 2-guard.

Exactly. I have not been too impressed with him as a run-the-team PG yet, tho its early obviously.

Beno had a TO problem last year, tho, and he has not shown signs of improving that yet (also still early). If he doesn't get a better TO/assist ratio and Brown doesn't show signs of being more of a true PG, then the Kings biggest problem may still be needing a quality starting PG.

me either but the way he would get better at running the team is by.....running the team. I would much rather give him the minutes in hope of him improving than give beno the minutes to watch the same thing we saw last year. It seems to me like Bobby B would be happy with whatever role given him on the court but idk. so if Theus says you need to run the team instead of looking to shoot first than it seems to me that's what he would be doing. Maybe Theus would rather him be a shoot first PG?

Maybe. It seems to me, to some extent, either you have PG instincts and vision, or you don't.

Possible, but I hope not. It isn't what we need, IMHO.

I think there's obviously the potential you have with athletic speedster type undersized shooting guard gunners, and while Brown has distinguished himself enough via summer league (and to a smaller effect, preseason) from those other prototypes, he needs to kick it up to another level right now--where he has a prime opportunity to succeed with a lackluster Beno Udrih, a disappointing Quincy Douby and a rapidly aging Bobby Jackson alongside him. He suffers from all the syndromes of his prototype--shows no conscience in jacking up shots/caring about shot selection, suffers from tunnel vision, is overwhelmed by the talent level in this league and struggles to stay in front of fellow speedsters. Right now he's a net negative with potential--horrible/streaky shooting, porous defense, little passing ability. As noted, he needs to take it up another level, or he'll be sacked--his types are the easiest to find in the league, unfortunately.

Exactly why he wasn't drafted to begin with. But, he was able to develop PG skills in his one year in Europe. So maybe, with more help and pt he could improve his pg skills. And, some of the same deficiencies could have been said of Cisco last year. But, because of Theus's prior relationship with Garcia, Theus gave him a lot of help and leeway. I think he could do the same thing for Brown.

Right now I like him better than Beno, but that's not saying much. Here sure as heck plays better than Beno on D, so if Beno doesn't play *much* better D in the next game, I'd give Brown most of the minutes.

I am sure that Bobby will get more under control as the season goes on. He's only played a limit role in 7 NBA games thus far. I am impressed with his ability to score baskets. Also has some flash. Loved the shot high off of the glass.

Bobby B looked pretty good last night. And he might as well be starting because im pretty sure he played alot more than Beno

Nope, Beno Udrih played a few more minutes against GSW than Bobby Brown and will continue to start no doubt. Both were relatively solid in that glorified pickup game and it would be inaccurate to say Brown somehow now supplants Beno based on THAT game. Put simply, Brown did not vastly or even measurably out perform Udrih.

The line from last nights game which as a PG tandem looked even more solid at total 21 points and 7 assists:

PG : Min FG 3pt FT RB Ast TO Stl Pts

Udrih: 25.16 4-11 0-2 0-0 3 4 0 2 8

Brown: 22.43 5-9 2-3 1-2 0 3 0 0 13

I totally agree. Udrih is much more of a point guard than Brown, whom I suspect might actually see more minutes at the 2 with Martin out for the next few games...

it was a glorified pick up game but still. idk i was there and it sure seemed like bobby was in more than beno but facts dont lie.

Bobby Brown can flat out shoot the ball

I went to the Stockton pre-season game and watched him warm up and he hit 7, 3 pointers in a row before missing one, then hit the next 4 before going to the lay up drill. He is very quick, athletic and a good defender. I can see him getting his minutes split between PG and SG. He is a great pick up and I really like how he played against GSW on Sunday. GO KINGS!!
