Bobby and/or Doug

Entity

Hall of Famer
All this talk about needing Vets to mentor the young guys and not really play much but provide good leadership and values. Heck let Bobby suit up again he is just 1 year removed from playing and Doug tries out for different team every year. Let them sit on the bench in suits or what not.

This is a very good idea if the bolded part above is true.

Doug Christie still tries out for different teams every year?

So, he thinks he can still play.

Is that true?

These guys could be very good bench players and mentors for our young players. They will be very cheap and can be had for a one year contract. They won't be seeing action that much anyways with the depth we have, so why not?

I cant wait until we start winning again so people can move on from that old team. Come on guys.... those days are long gone!

Yeah, they could waive their canes and yell "dagnabit young whippersnappers!" whenever one of the kids screwed up, and then give them the back in the day I walked barefoot to school through the snow uphill both ways speech. :p

Not so sure about bringing them in to play. On the other hand, bringing them in as coaches/mentors or just as occasional "special guests" to practices wouldn't be such a bad idea. I would assume they'd be interested as well.

Hahaha!

Sometimes it is really hard to let go and forget the good times we had with those guys.:)

But honestly, I think we are pretty much covered in every position. If we only needed some body to fill the vacant roster spots we might as well spend it on these two while we wait for the right players to come along.

I thought Doug had his own business where he works with players, training them? what teams have worked him out in the last 2 years?

Hey!! I used to walk barefoot in the snow both ways. Of course I didn't go to school much...:D

I think you just need to wait for the people who watched the old team to start dying off. Hopefully you're under 20.

I vividly remember going to Candlestick to watch Mays, McCovey, Marichal, Davenport, and company play. Lots of Giants teams have won since, but that doesn't change a thing.

I don't want Doug or Bobby to try to actually *play* for the Kings again, but I'd love to have them helping the kids to learn. Age is no disqualification for that, just ask Coachie.
