People can dump on the Maloofs all they want and the boys no doubt realize they're not the most popular bachelors in Sac as this point. But I bet they don't give a hoot and why should they?
People can dump on the Maloofs all they want and the boys no doubt realize they're not the most popular bachelors in Sac as this point. But I bet they don't give a hoot and why should they? They've been fighting for a new arena all out since 2002 - having taken majority control of Kings franchise in 1998. Before the Maloofs, previous owner Jim Thomas tried to get the blittering idoits at City Hall to come up with a new arena plan, and way back in 1992 original owner Greg Lukenbill (who built both Arco 1 and Arco 2 totally on his own) was talking about need for a new arena development plan since what he had built was only a temporary facility that would not be suitable for future expansion or rehab. All of these guys failed to get a new arena because they city of Sacramento dropped the ball - NOT THEM!
With all due respect, STERN, DAVID ****ING STERN, does not see the problem as that of the Maloofs. He is pointing his finger at the City of Sacramento. When the NCAA said they wouldn't come back, that should have been a hint. It doesn't take a genius to understand that if one basketball organization finds the arena inadequate, another would reach the same conclusion. Rightfully so.
Deflect responsibity - the fighting words of the City of Sacramento. Great offense, huh? Offensive is more the word.
KJ hit a three at the end of regulation to send it to overtime ...

No one here is arguing the city doesn't share a lot of the blame so I don't know what you're getting at. The maloofs have been absolutely disgraceful over the last month and have been completely inept at businesses and politicis for the last 5 years.
If he pulls it off I wouldn't mind seeing this as the next jersey retired and hanging from the rafters in Sacramento

Wow! They're definitely rattled.
"If I leave you; no one will EVER want you"
Nah... Kobe/Horry (Ron Burkle) is playing on our team this time!![]()
Kobe? Horry? No effing comment.
chasen4r1;822883[B said:]Who are the Maloofs to say that a team will never come to Sac if they leave?[/B] This is the city and these are the fans that have relentlessly supported them for what has it been.. nearly a decade? Why don't they go back to where they came from quit acting as if they're the victims. It must feel great to be up on their throne ripping away one of the few things Sacramento can really, proudly call its own.
the maloofs were working with an incompetent city council for years.
They finally have a mayor who wants an arena as well and is willing to work with everybody to achieve that goal, something Sacramento has not had in....ever.
Why not just wait a year with this uncertain lockout looming and give Kevin Johnson to prove his worth. If nothing goes in this year, then take your bags and leave.
Issue an ultimatum and that way they will have all the votes they will want from BOG when they file next year.
Kobe? Horry? No effing comment.
Even if it can support it in theory, there's still the Lakers and the huge resistance they're going to put up because of the TV revenue they'll lose. That alone could result in a relocation fee the Maloofs simply can't pay.
I will never forget this quote from a movie and as one who knows a little about Japanese culture, this may be more true than not.
"Americans focus on who is at fault and Japanese focus on solutions."
I don't know if this is the truth but the problem is now in the hands of people who can find solutions. I have discussed this so much I am actually quite happy to step aside and let the real problem solvers do their business. The fans have set the emotional atmosphere as well as any group of fans could. Does our devotion effect businesmen? I'm not sure and am getting quite skeptical as to what interest the NBA has in its fans as opposed to their devotion to their owners. In my view, the NBA cannot exist without its fans. Duh!
It appeared to me that to Stern this whole game, whether it's on the court or in the boardroom, is about money. Fans are interesting as money spenders to feed the bloated needs of a small number of people. Fans don't seem quite so interesting as living, breathing human beings.
Anaheim came up with a deal that risks no public money. Obviously, they deserve the Kings because they are better at this than Sacramento is.
"Stern on all the Sacramento reporters in attendance: "What's going on here?" Wow, Sacramento cares about the NBA! Who knew?"
Haha, good ol Stern humor.
Well, techincally we have the Lakers on our side with Buss....=/

The maloofs are saints compared to Shinn. This is what happened to Shinn in Charlotte and the fans quit going to games BECAUSE OF THE OWNER.
They have terrible pokerfaces.

Seriously, other than some bad PR moves, what have they done?
