Best Case Scenario?

Now that the trade deadline has passed, I have been re-thinking the King's options. Considering we don't win the lottery and the fact that Batum and Chandler are looking like they will be locked up by their current teams, I think these two lineups are the best case scenarios for next year.

PG - Hinrich/Thomas/Fredette
SG - Evans/Thornton
SF - Kirilenko/Barnes or Gilchrist/Garcia/Honeycutt/Outlaw
PF - Thompson/Hayes
C - Cousins/Whiteside

What do you guys think? Is there a better roster we can go into next year with?

I don't know about what Kings can do via trade or FA market but I do know about NBA draft. The Kings probably won't win the lottery but they'll likely have high 1st round pick (around #5-#7) and about #35 in second round. I'd love to see them get Mr. Everything Draymond Green in second or coming on strong Festus Ezeli. First round locks Harrison Barnes or Jared Sullinger in a Kings uni would be really nice. Drummond is probably a top 3 pick. I think Green is going to be a very dynamic NBA player at the 3 - maybe down the road better than certain other Kings player who is similar hybrid plus soon looking for LT contract.

Green is an interesting player. He was mostly a post player his first two years at Mich St., and a pretty good one. Then he developed his outside shot, and turned into a sort of stretch forward. I think he'll have to play SF in the NBA at 6'7", and as he's shooting around 39% from the three, he might turnout to be a pretty good one. If I had to gamble though, I think I'd rather go for Ezeli, who I think has more upside and is a true big athletic body. My gut tells me that Ezeli won't make it out of the first round.

Sullinger is a good player, but I'm not sure he'd be the best option next to Cousins. If we were to draft him, I think I'd stick with Thompson next to Cousins, and let Sullinger back up at center. At least in the short term. Rather have Barnes. I could make a case for Terrence Jones as well, who is jack of all trades, able to play SF or PF.

Largely concur. Maybe Kings could get both Green and Ezeli by trading up a bit to get another pick to go with two they already have. Probably both those players are low first round or certainly high 2nd round picks.

The way the standings are looking right now, it looks like we will have anywhere from the 4th - 8th worst record in the league. With the lottery in place, we still have a chance to get a top 3 pick.

I like Sullinger but not for this team. He's not very athletic and plays below the rim. Most on this forum would like to pair Cousins with an athletic big man who plays above the rim and blocks shots. That's not Sullinger's game. Green is a very good college player. He can get away with his lack of size at that level, but he is considered a shrimp as a power forward at the nba level. He doesn't have the athleticism or lateral quickness to guard small forwards or even quick power forwards. His skills are intriguing but I don't see his major success at the college level translating over to nba very well.

Good defender, good size, good playmaking ability, and good 3 point shooter. He seems like an ideal fit next to Evans, but that's just my opinion
