Careful now, I think you might have created the best player ever... He doesn't have the passing ability or ball-handling of Wade, but who knows how good he'll turn out to be.
thats why i said potential. if he can improve his ball handling, and get a solid mid-range game (im not sure how his mid range game is now) then he can become Wade caliber.
Haven't forgotten, Crash was a fantastic athlete but I think McLemore is a better one. It's always hard to judge how athletic a guy is in college, they all look more athletic in the NBA, strange as that may sound. We'll see...
Not sure where to put this, but it seems the most appropriate place. Our FO's reaction in their war room to NO taking Noel:
I'm almost glad NO took Noel, because I'm pretty sure we would have passed on him for McCollum or Shabazz, which would have cost me quite a bit in terms of smashed laptop and TV.
So I know thats 'Reef and Mitch off to the right, and Mullin to the left, but whos the big guy with his back to the camera? Is that Shaq? Wondering if he hung around for a bit after having dinner with Vivek and Mastrov, lol. I just can't make a guess as to who it is.
*edit* nevermind, when he gets closer to Mullin it's clear it's not Shaq.
C'mon, someone has to know who the big guy is. He's a giant. There is something familiar about his face but that's as good as I can do. I'm trying to think of ex-Kings like Tank Thompson, etc. Anybody can get fat in middle age (cough, cough).

If MLM improves his handling enough where he can come down and set up the offense, as well as master the 1-2 dribble stop and pop on closeout defenders it would make his life a lot easier and help our team a fair amount as well. And I don't think those things would be that tough for him to develop. It's not like MLM is a terrible ball handler. We're not dealing with Jimmer here.
But, as far as breaking guys down off the dribble, 1v1, that is much tougher to develop. I'd be surprised if that's ever a real focal point of his game. I know some think your handle is like shooting, and because you can rework a jumpshot and improve mechanics that you can really improve your handle as well. I see little evidence of that. Your handle is based on touch developed at a young age, just like soccer, you can't become some great dribbler of the ball in your 20's. You either developed that as a kid or you didn't. By far, the large majority of good 1v1 guards in the NBA had that ability when they came in, they just improved their decisions making process. But a handle like Reke had or even something close to that can't be developed in your 20's. There's just zero evidence of that.

Why not just say Ray Allen? Allen used to throw the ball down back in his youth... similar builds, similar hops, similar shooting, similar styles of play. Best case is Ray Allen or maybe Vince Carter. Not seeing any sorta Wade thing.
Its rare to find such an Athletic player with the smoothe shooting stroke/game that McLemore has. In the modern NBA only Kevin Durant comes to mind tbh as far as pure shooters that are raw athletes. Ray Allen was just a average/good athlete in his Buck days.

McLemore is a better athlete, but yeah Ray had hops in his Buck days. I was 8 years old then, and only vaguely remember watching NBA basketball. Didn't fully get into it until around 2000.

Maybe when we talk about Ray we should be clear as to the last name. I know people who follow a thread from start to finish may know who the person is but those of us who just read the recent posts to threads sometimes don't know who is being talked about and there is nothing like an impersonal pronoun Like "I think he has a great upside" (end of comment). Maybe I'm the only person getting confused and if that's so, ignore me. I'll do the best I can to understand who is being discussed. I now return you to the thread you were watching.
Ray Allen would be fantastic, but I'll be happy if we end up with a solid 3-and-D player who can occasionally cut-and-dunk. Really happy that Ben fell to us, and at minimum I think he'll be a solid contributor from Day One.
According to McLemore's agent, Rodney Blackstock, the league has lined up Webber, Vlade Divac and Mitch Richmond as mentors for the 20-year-old rookie. No word on whether Chris Mullin - who has a soft spot for shooters, understandably - will join the group.
I was at that game as a kid. I was so bummed it was preseason because if it was the season it would have been noticed by more people outside of sac! Even tho it was so simple, it was one of my favorite memories.
Loved cheering "Wallace, wallace, wallace!" at the end of games. I thought he'd develop into something huge for us
Agreed, this will likely be the first time I watch every kings Summer League game, just for McLemore (and also to check out McCallum a bit who I have never seen play).

I was a huge Wallace fan from day 1. In fact, my biggest claim to fame as a Kings fan, and I stand by this 100%, is that I instigated the Wallace chants. Yes, yes I did. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to prevent Petrie from leaving him exposed in the expansion draft, which, to me, is the number 1 legitimately horrible decision made by that group. Thankyou for chanting. Well, we tried at least.
