At what point is Mike

NOT going to take the last shot in every game? I know he can be clutch, but damn, it IS a 5 man game. Let Brad take a sweet jumper or, heaven forbid, SAR (shooting, what, 2nd best percentage in the whole league, IIRC) take it to the hole. Everyone knows Mike's taking the last shot in about EVERY close game now. I want to see a nice pass for a layup or a 3 instead of Mike taking them all....

A point guard gets to distribute the ball. It is amazing how Bibby seems to always call his own number for the last shot. The game winning shot by Bonzi was from a Miller pass. If Bibby had the ball then the rest of the team might as well just head to the showers.

It was a clutch shot by Mike that even got us close. Bibby ran down the rebound and got the ball with 3.3 seconds left. It had to be a three-point shot to even tie the game. Considering Adelman didn't call for the time out and he was right next to Bibby when Mike took possession, there really wasn't any other option available. You sure didn't want to pass to Peja for a three attempt, did you?

Should have posted Reef on the last possession of the 4th...no doubt about it.

But Miller couldn't get an open shot all night. I agree with Piksi...Bibby dribbles around getting screens at the top for so long that when he does pass it to someone, it's usually with 4 or 5 on the clock and they can do nothing. So, it ends up back in Bibby's hands for a contested jumper.

It is not taking a shot as much as dribbling the clock down without moving the ball

Maybe it is just me but I can swear that I see other NBA teams dribble the clock down AND move the ball around for the last shot. When Bibby is told to dribble the clock down, he thinks it means go one on one.

oddly enough its bibby thats gets us close enough to have a game winning/tying shot....

leave him alone, thats the one topic that you cant really call him out on.... at least he wants to take the damn shot..... i dont know about reed but peja and brad look scared ****less out there WITH time on the clock....

Yes, a Miller pass on a broken play in which Rick Adelman -- you know, the coach of the team -- wanted to try to get Mike the last shot.

There are enough legitimate deficiencies in Mike's game to get worked up about, I don't think that selfishness is a problem.

In reality If it wasn't for Mike and his late game field goals, we wouldn't have even been in the game.

The real issue is this:

with no Bonzi you have Kevin -- no for obvious reasons, Brad, who is as likely as not to pass the ball rather than shoot it and can't create if he's pressured, SAR, who missed both his shots in OT and was being doubled, and Peja, who alternated hiding and bricking.

Kobe keeps the ball and takes his team's last second shots too. All great clutch players do. But Mike hasn't been MAKING them, and that is where the problem comes in. He's been close enough where you can still see it in him -- he wants it, and is absolutely looking to make it. But if its not going in...well, can only go on for so long before you look elsewhere. Problem is that our "elsewhere" guy went down in the first quarter.

And, don't forget the fact that the team making so many mistakes throughout the game that they have to count on TWO last-minute bail-out buzzer-beaters IN THE SAME GAME is a huge problem all on its own.

And, not to beat a dead horse, but our other one was traded last year for 3 guys who don't play.

stop pointing fingers!!!!!!

let us stop blaiming anyone - mike's selfishness, peja's inconsistency... we don't have the right.... if we are disappointed with how they perform right now, how much more them, our beloved kings, who are the ones who sweat it out there, dont you think their heartbreaks are bigger?... instead of blaming them why not keep on encouraging them and at least congratulate them for every win and just say a "better luck next time" after a losss.. this i can guarantee, the sacramento kings would still rise and nobody needs to be traded to accomplish that!!!!!!! sir petrie please learn from your mistakes in the past dont change the line-up they would blend sooner or later... all we need is PATIENCE and HOPE...

Who pays a great portion of their salaries? WE DO. I'll complain if the product I help pay for sucks.

He should have called a timeout with 4 seconds left. They could have designed a play and went from there.4 seconds is a decent amount of time. But, noooooohe had to chuck up a shot from like 30-35 feet away

As VF has already pointed out, Mike was standing right next to Adelman (even appeared to wait a moment for instruction) and was not told to call time.

Also, the amount of time left on the clock seems to be rising with each post. I only watched the play one time through, but I believe it was closer to the 3 second mark when Mike rebounded the ball, and closer to the 2.3 second mark when he got full control of the rebound.

When he first got the ball it was 4 seconds..the hesitation was at 3.5..then he moved forth.

AND Rick Adelman was right there. He did not indicate in any way, shape or form that he wanted Bibby to call a time out.

And if should never have come down to that point, regardless.

It's over. We regroup and move on...

This need to find one particular player to point all the fingers of blame at is just an exercise in futility. There is so much more wrong with our team than one player who doesn't call a time out OR one shooter who doesn't shoot OR one guard who doesn't guard, etc.

i don't think they read the message boards, so our blame and encouragement does nothing

there is no more time for patience, only hope. hope only gets you so far.

I'm assuming on that play that Rick did not want Mike to call timeout because he thought he could get a better look in the flow than by letting the Bobcats set their defense.

I am not singling him out as the cause of our problems, but in the last couple games he has taken the last 3 buzzer beaters after dribbling out the clock (maybe with one pass so he can get the ball back quickly) and he has missed all 3. I like Mike, but I think he is getting very predictable as he feels the need to take EVERY last second shot. Every one. All long-range jumpers. I admire the confidence, but MOVE THE DAMN BALL OCCASIONALLY at the end of a game.

there are more ways and means to manifest our encouragement... it is not only through messageboards.... well i guess i'm just a very die-hard fan of the kings coz until now i still have patience and i know it pays... i just dont wanna let go of them....

Hasn't Bonzi WON a couple games on the last shot already this year?

Bonzi wasnt in the game. He hurt his groin in the first quarter. I would rather have Mike take a the clutch shot then to have Peja airball one 2 feet away from the rim. You have to think that Mike doesnt always call his own number. Adelman usually has mike inbound the ball so it usually is a play ran out of the huddle. If Bonzi was in the game I'm sure that the play would have been run a little more differently.
