"Danny Ainge, in his weekly radio appearance on WEEI, hinted Indiana's price for Ron Artest might well be Pierce. Needless to say, the conversation ended then and there. Ainge said he has talked with the Pacers, but things have not gotten remotely serious." Boston Globe
"Earl Watson's boost in playing time and contribution to the Nuggets have pleased him. But he would like some closure to the trade rumors that have surrounded him nearly since the day he arrived this offseason. "You always want resolution," he said Wednesday. "Being in limbo is kind of a challenge. But at the same time I believe everything happens for a reason." Denver Post
"A trade involving Watson and Nene with a third team for Indiana small forward Ron Artest appears dead, though the Nuggets continue to talk with the Pacers. They also continue to hear from teams on Watson's availability. Seattle remains interested in him, and Cleveland might be, too." Denver Post
"No one has come up to me and said the rumors was false," Watson said. "I feel like since that hasn't happened it has to be the obvious." Denver Post
"Denver continues to compete for Artest with Golden State, which could be offering Troy Murphy and draft picks; Minnesota (possibly for Michael Olowokandi and Rashad McCants); and Boston (possibly for Ricky Davis), among others." Denver Post
"Word is, the only thing holding up the Warriors' trading for beleaguered Indiana Pacers All-Star forward Ron Artest is tonight's game. See, the Pacers don't want to trade Artest and then have to face him right away, so they're waiting until after tonight's game. This way, Indiana wouldn't have to deal with Artest until Feb. 10, when the Warriors play at Conseco Fieldhouse." San Jose Mercury News
``Whatever,'' Warriors guard Jason Richardson said with a smirk. ``I don't listen to no rumors.'' Whether through rumors or media reports, the Warriors consistently have been mentioned as being among the teams -- along with the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets -- pursuing a trade for Artest, who wore out his welcome in Indiana last month by asking to be traded." San Jose Mercury News
"But there is reason to believe there might be some truth to the rumors. Sources from other teams are leaking information to the media that the Warriors are involved. Plus, Higgins and Mullin stayed in Oakland during the recent trip. At least one of them usually accompanies the team on the road." San Jose Mercury News
"Speculation involving the Warriors has included power forward Troy Murphy, small forward Mike Dunleavy, swingman Mickael Pietrus and rookie Ike Diogu." San Jose Mercury News
``I haven't spoken with anyone from Golden State,'' Artest's agent, Mark Stevens, said. ``Whoever wants him, that's where he'll go. If Golden State wants him, he'll be happy to play with Golden State. I don't think it would be a problem fitting in there.'' San Jose Mercury News
"Indications are that the Nuggets remain very interested in the Indiana Pacers forward (Ron Artest), and they are waiting to hear from a third team that could make the deal a reality." Rocky Mountain News
"A three-team deal discussed last month would have sent Nuggets forward Nene and guard Earl Watson to Atlanta, Artest to Denver and Hawks forward Al Harrington to Indiana." Rocky Mountain News
"Pssst: The Indiana Pacers want Wally Szczerbiak for Ron Artest, but the Timberwolves have said no thanks. Dialogue between the two teams continues." St. Paul Pioneer Press
"Trade rumors regarding Indiana Pacer outcast Ron Artest continue to swirl, but Dunleavy said no deals — Artest or otherwise — were imminent. "You're still always looking and exploring things that come up," Dunleavy said." Los Angeles Times
kennadog said:Just now on KHTK, Mike Lamb said a "little birdie" passed on info to him. He said do not be surprised tomorrow to see Ron Artest go to Denver in a 3-team deal. Take the info for what its worth. He seemed to think his source was pretty solid.
I'm just reporting what he said. He did not mention the Kings at all. Of course, I certainly wondered if the Kings are the 3rd team. It would be just like GP that people suspect Denver, but have no clue the Kings are involved, if indeed they are. Who knows.BMiller52 said:How would he know the info if it didn't involve us?
Bricklayer said:I do have to put up a giant "?" next to Donnie Walsh's handling of this entire thing. He is threatening to screw up the entire Pacers season by drawing this saga out and out and out. Just do something already. All he's doing is holding his own team over the barrel.
Rowdyone said:Walsh is also shortening the trading season since many teams want to see how this shakes out before they're willing to make any moves themselves. By the way, when is the trading deadline?

["Lakers coach Phil Jackson has offered high praise for Artest, but his team is not thought to have enough assets to make a deal for him." Indianapolis Star
"Minnesota owner Glen Taylor, meanwhile, said Wednesday he is pursing Artest, but has not made a formal offer." Indianapolis Star
"Because (Chris) Mullin and Rod Higgins are undoubtedly contemplating a deal for Artest, whether or not Montgomery wants to coach him. So what does that tell you about the current relationship between coach and management?" San Jose Mercury News
"But Dan Fegan, the agent for Murphy, said Thursday that Mullin assured him Murphy would not be included in any trade for Artest, which sounds right to me since Murphy's long-term deal is a major complication." San Jose Mercury News
"Any trade is more likely to include Ike Diogu and/or Mickael Pietrus. I believe Mullin is loath to trade multiple young players without filling his main need in the low post. Yes, Artest would be a major plus for this team if he could be controlled, and I'm fairly sure that Montgomery couldn't do it." San Jose Mercury News
"But Indiana Coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged Thursday that the Warriors are among Artest's main suitors." San Jose Mercury News
"If I heard a good deal right now, I'd do it now," Walsh, the Pacers' chief executive officer, said yesterday in a telephone interview. "We're ready to do a deal, but we're not going to do a deal that hurts us in the future or one that doesn't make us better right now." New York Times
"The Minnesota Timberwolves have said they contacted the Pacers, and the Denver Nuggets were also interested in acquiring Artest. According to several executives in the league who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to comment on the Pacers' intentions, the Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers are potential trading partners, while the Phoenix Suns offered to be part of a multi-team deal using their $3.6 million trade exception." New York Times
"The Nuggets have been making inquiries to trade point guard Earl Watson and shooting guard Voshon Lenard. It could be that teams are holding on to their trade assets, waiting for Artest to be dealt, but Walsh debunked that notion. "People keep telling me that," Walsh said with a laugh. "I don't want to hear it. Teams can do their own deals." New York Times
"In another development, (Mike) Miller has been mentioned several times as trade bait in a national report. A team insider denied the Grizzlies were shopping Miller but acknowledged that teams often ask for Miller to be included in deals." Memphis Commercial Appeal

SAS said up to today it was the Warriors with Murphy/Dunleavy.

"If there's any East team out there with a shot at landing Indiana's Ron Artest, all signs point to Boston. NBA front-office sources insist that Celts president Danny Ainge, who certainly has no shortage of young players to dangle as well as a mercurial swingman of his own in Ricky Davis, remains as interested as anyone on the list of leading West suitors: Denver, Minnesota, Golden State and the Los Angeles Lakers." ESPN.com
"We're talking to teams, but to say we're going to put a date on it, we're not," (Larry) Bird said in a telelphone interview Friday. "We're getting some good offers, but we're talking about an All-Star player. "We'd like for it to be over with so Ron can get back to playing and we can get going. But from the beginning our strategy has been that a trade has to be right for our franchise. To me it's like Ronnie's injured." Indianapolis Star
"Bird said he's open to trading for a player at any position. The most likely scenario is obtaining one or two players for Artest, as opposed to a larger deal involving other Pacers. Bird doesn't rule out any possibility. "What's interesting is that you'll be talking about the Ronnie trade and (other teams) bring up other players," Bird said." Indianapolis Star
"Bird and Walsh believe their options will improve as the Feb. 23 trade deadline approaches, as teams get a better handle on their prospects for this and future seasons." Indianapolis Star

Rowdyone said:For those of us who hope Artest lands with the Kings I think last night's exchange during the Clippers game between Grant and Jerry was illuminating. After doing a promo for Sunday's game against Indiana they talked about how well they were coached and, surprisingly, how well they were doing given the injuries and Artest thing. Jerry then made the observation that "you can't carve anything good out of a bad piece of wood", apparantly referring to Artest and his baggage. Since Jerry is in touch with management I would assume he was echoing upper management sentiment on the subject and if it was strictly his opinion he wouldn't give it at all unless he was sure it wouldn't come back to haunt him should Ron-Ron end up here after all.
