I'm just reporting what he said. He did not mention the Kings at all. Of course, I certainly wondered if the Kings are the 3rd team. It would be just like GP that people suspect Denver, but have no clue the Kings are involved, if indeed they are. Who knows.BMiller52 said:

Contrary to popular belief, local sports talk show people are not the first ones called by GMs in the NBA involved in major trades.
While it might or might not be true, it could also simply be Lamb's way of trying to get there "first." It's not like he had many details.
I could say a "little birdie" passed me info and said "Don't be surprised if Peja doesn't play tomorrow because his back/groin is acting up."
That doesn't mean I know anything or actually heard from anyone.

Sacramento, where the Pacers play Sunday, has not been mentioned in Artest-related rumors. That hasn't stopped media speculation, however. A spokesman for KHTK, the Kings flagship station, said Thursday it planned to report that the Pacers, Denver and Golden State would complete a three-way trade today. Artest and Scot Pollard were to go to Denver, with the incoming players uncertain.
That was news to Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh.
"There's no truth to that," he said in a telephone interview from his home, adding that no deal was imminent.

I do have to put up a giant "?" next to Donnie Walsh's handling of this entire thing. He is threatening to screw up the entire Pacers season by drawing this saga out and out and out. Just do something already. All he's doing is holding his own team over the barrel.

Sounds to me like they aren't getting the offers they had hoped they'd get. Apparently, a lot of GMs don't think Artest is worth what some people thought he'd be. Bird is right, tho. As the trade deadline approaches, the offers are likely to be better, if some GM thinks Artest is all they need to get them where they want to go. Especially where they want to go right now.
For those of us who hope Artest lands with the Kings I think last night's exchange during the Clippers game between Grant and Jerry was illuminating. After doing a promo for Sunday's game against Indiana they talked about how well they were coached and, surprisingly, how well they were doing given the injuries and Artest thing. Jerry then made the observation that "you can't carve anything good out of a bad piece of wood", apparantly referring to Artest and his baggage. Since Jerry is in touch with management I would assume he was echoing upper management sentiment on the subject and if it was strictly his opinion he wouldn't give it at all unless he was sure it wouldn't come back to haunt him should Ron-Ron end up here after all.

I think that is a very astute observation, Rowdyone. Jerry would not stick his neck out with that type of comment if he thought there was any chance of seeing Artest on the Kings. Personally, I have to agree with his comment, at least as far as it pertains to Ron.
