Artest needs surgery on the problem thumb...

Grant said he had the same injury that Bibby sat out half the season for. So much for "only playing when he wants to".

Even the people who make those comments know thats not the case. Some people have made their mind up about Ron before he even put on a kings jersey. Anyways yea this would be the best time to get it treated so next year he can continue to play great ball with us.

Uh no, that only makes it more obvious he only plays when he wants to. What, it was a-ok two night ago, but not the game before or the game after? Ron can clearly play through it...he just chooses when to and when to not.

And I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that Ron may have had the same type of injury, but of a less severe nature. A partial detachment rather than full. Which doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. But does mean it obviously has not been debilitating when Ron felt like playing through it.

What you say is true, but I'll give him this; he'd play through it if there was something to play for. (How smart that'd be is debatable..)

Some in the Kings organization might think that beating the Lakers, rather than helping them, would be something to play for.

and yet that thread is full of these same... opinions.

the logic of those threads would be suspect as well.

in terms of standings, overall development, "showcasing" players, draft order, etc, a win against the lakers means little to nothing.

in terms of having a win for fans still clutching on to glory days past, and having something to throw at those lakers, and having something to fuel what can not even be recognizable as embers, a win against the lakers is everything.

take your pick.

I'd give him some credit tho... Beno would deffinitly be out for season if he had this injury. In fact a good number of guys might shut it down for more games than Ron has...

Yes Ron Ron is crazy and He probably has sat out games he could have played but it would be different if we were a playoff team... Ron would be playing every night for sure...

Him sitting out gives our young guys time, and him not sitting out isn't exactly disrupting the team so I'm pretty fine with it. Hope the injury's not too bad

Indeed.

There would likewise appear to be no logic whatsoever to squandering billions of dollars a year on watching guys throwing a ball around. Yet here we are.

Boy, isn't that the truth.. I can buy four cervesa's here for the price of one at Arco. What the hell was I thinking??

As an aside, in one of those not so shocking turns, Ron's thumb has miraculously healed enough in the last 24 hours for him to be listed as a starter tonight by the Bee. As I would like to beat the Lakers and there is no downside for us other than squishing the kids one last time (and hey, why not at this point right?), this is just a shrug. But also just one more bit of evidence toward an already obvious conclusion.

Somebody above said "Ron would play through it if he wants." Sure. Probably. But what does he want? And when? This Ron = Tru Warior stuff is really a myth when it comes to injuries. Ron Artest's health/availability (suspensions have factored in) read much more like Chris Webber than Mike Bibby: 72, 76, 55, 69, 73, 7, 56, 70, 57 (maybe make that last one 58 after another miraculous healing tonight).

I'm no fan of Artest (seriously), but I just want to note that when he was applauding on the sideline last night, I saw him specifically sticking his thumb out to avoid clapping on it. That's not the sign of someone faking an injury, nor is getting surgery two days after the season is over.

The games are meaningless at this point, and I'd rather Artest didn't play anyway because I'd rather see Garcia and Douby get the extra minutes.

I would say that yet another Beat L.A. thread popping up on the board would throw that opinion into considerable question.
Im not talking about ow fans feel, im aware of that hatred and where its coming from. Im talking about people within our organization.

Ron's ego is bigger than his thumb, way more. He plays against the Lakers but is "injured" against NO and SAN, two smaller market teams. The Lakers are big, national market and Kobe is MVP candidate this year. Sure he'll play tonight. His ego wouldn't allow otherwise.

I find it so sad that ron runs this team. HE decides when hes going to play. HE decides when hes gonna come out. It's all about ron and im sick of it. LEAVE RON. PLEASE............

Rodman got cut for pulling this stuff down here. His last refusal to play was at Sacra, ironically.

Does the Maloofs vetoing a Bibby trade to LAL 14 months ago (because they couldn't stand the idea of Bibby as a Laker) count? Or are the Maloofs not part of the organization?

I'd agree that Reggie, Ron, and some of the other newcomers probably don't care much. I doubt that extends to anyone who has been around longer.
