Artest "I wish we could've lost tonight"

OK, NO!!!!!
Don't get me wrong, a loss would have been best for us tonight. However, I do NOT want to hear a player on my team saying that he wishes we could have lost. I DO NOT like that AT ALL!!!!!

It was stupid, but he hated maybe killing Elton Brand's chance to go to the playoffs. He knows we aren't and he just wants Brand to have the chance. Its not quit as dumb as it appears out of context. Still, I wish he hadn't said it out loud. But that's Ron for ya.

Well in reality we have no shot at a top 3 and if even if we would have lost we still would not. The talent from 5-10 is decent but there is no special player their. They are all 6'8 small forwards. Their are plenty of those in the league and in nect years draft. I feel that Sac should take the risk and draft Thabeet if he enters the draft.

eh...i wouldn't make a big deal of this. the kings won today largely because of artest's contribution. he had a helluva game.

he and elton brand played together in chicago, so i imagine it was a typical off-the-cuff remark from artest. we all know he's the most competitive player on the current kings roster, so let's not blow this out of proportion by taking the quote out of context.

Actually no, that's not true.

According to nbadraft.net, 2 of the top 8 are 6'8" SFs, the others are all 6'9"-7'2" Cs and PFs. According to ESPN, only one of the top 8 is smaller than a 6'9" PF. Draftexpress also has only two guys in the top 8 who are not PFs or Cs, and one of those two is listed as PF/SF.

We were in the top 8. We aren't any more. It is a big deal.

If ping-pong balls always followed your position in the draft it sure would be

Well, we just went from about a 4% chance of first pick to about a 1% chance. It's pretty academic at this point, nobody later than #7 has gotten a top-3 pick since they started using the current method.

Basically, he didn't like hurting a friends chance to advance to the next round. I wouldn't either. It's not like it was us or them.

You all are reading too far into this. Basically he was saying "I wish somehow we didn't have to hurt EB's chances of getting into the playoffs, because he's a good friend of mine and I know how hard he tries. This win meant less to our chances than it would have for him. I really hate to hurt his playoff chances"

Agreed...no big whoop.

That's exactly how I took it. It meant more to them then it did to us, so saying that he "kind of" wishes that they would have lost just means (IMHO) exactly what SacKings said.... Ron's glad we won, but sorry that he had to help push his friend out of the playoffs...

DISCLAIMER: That's just my guess... this is RON we're talking about... he could have actually meant "gee, I didn't realize we were playing EB's team until the game was over. If I had known I would have thrown the game so he'd have a shot at the playoffs".;)
