Peja is as good as gone. Whether for Ron Artest or not, this guy can't stay. No turning back now.

His pricetag just dropped drastically today and if he screws up anything for us we will have even harder time unloading him than Pacers do.
I don't think Bodiroga4C's ever called himself a "Kings" fan...AleksandarN said:Man and you call yourself a Kings fan?

Pitch the idea to Fox. They would do it![]()

on nba fastbreak, bucher made it seem optimistic that the trade was gonna happenDocHolliday said:His agent said you're crazy if you think you're going to see Peja in a Kings uniform again. This trade will go down tomorrow after the Maloofs and Petrie meet with him Artest tomorrow. That's my prediction.

piksi said:most definitely and him being right is just the theory of big numbers. If you start 100000 rumors - chances are that one of them turns out to be true

Maggette is a 20 point scorer who's contract is not that bad. He also gets to the line more than anyone on our team. Bonzi is a free agent and Peja been inconsistent/injured throughout the season. Peja does deserve to go where he's wanted. The only thing bad about these trades is that Ron Artest gets to go to LA.
Waaayyy better than getting stuck with Artest. I'd do it too.Evenstar said:i'd do that trade in a second

Is one guy, even Artest really going to make this team that much better? I'd rather go for a complete rebuild and without Artest.Bricklayer said:Unfortunately has none of the upside of the Artest deal -- remember the subtext is that we are finally getting a guy to turn aroudn the defense. Without which, BTW, we can never be good again. And there must be something wrong with that foot for Indiana not to just go for Maggette straight up.
Would I still do it? If the foot will be ok one day, sure. Peja has to be moved now and that would be a good save. But Maggette isn't going to change anything radically for us. Not enough shots for him as we're currently constructed, and he isn't going to have much impact in other areas.
Oh I agree a trade has to be made and I figured the Kings would have to trade Pedja before Feb 23. However, I just really did not want it to be for Artest. And I'm really sorry that Pedja is the latest victim of the Artest drama.Stojakovic said:I think a trade as of now is inevitable. Peja may have said it best in his conversation with Vlade when he said that both parties are ready to move on. Peja Stojakovic is a closed chapter in the history of the Sacramento Kings.
The right guy sure... and the kicker here was that Artest COULD be that guy: An imensly tallented palyer who can score, defend, and change the entire focus of the defense freeing up his teammates... WHEN he palys. A contrite and motivated Artest was a best case scenario. As tempting as it is to say that a disgruntled Artest is a worse case scenario I am not sure this team can get significantly worse, and definatly watching Pedja walk at the end of the season is an unapetizing thought... a few months of rep rehab in Sac would have made Artest MUCH more tradeable.kennadog said:Is one guy, even Artest really going to make this team that much better? Bricklayer said:If Doug Christie, who was a fraction of the player that Artest is, could infuse the whole team with defense, so could Artest. Now enough to matter? Who knows. But this team is barreling toward complete rebuild right now wiht multiple FAs (one of them angry) and vets with midlevel contracts stacked all over the place. You either save it NOW, or not at all. Artest is an attempt at a save. A high risk high reward sort of move. But agian, given where we are, what we are giving up, not THAT high of a risk. We've been depressed for months over Peja's declining trade value. There is not an Artest level talent in the league that we can get so cheaply.
