Another Arena proposal

Anaheim Kings ....man, I really don't like the sound of that
Damn, is the NBA really going to even remotely consider putting a 3rd team in SoCal just because of financial support they may provide?? Damn, LA would get over us once again...ultimately. And if the city ever did get its sh*t together in the future AFTER the Kings were long gone, and finally get that illusive new arena built, I just dont think the love would be there for something like an NBA expansion team here in Sacramento, it just wouldnt be the same, wouldnt feel right.

For the love of all things good and holy.

Firstly, if Sacramento lets the Kings walk away, why would the powers that be want to send another team here?

Secondly, if Sacramento can't do what's necessary to get an arena for the Kings, where would this phantom team play?

Thirdly, IF Sacramento somehow lucked its way into a second chance as an NBA city and IF Sacramento found something other than an empty pasture for this team to play in/on, WHY would that be better or more exciting than having a beloved, established, good team??

For high draft picks????

I'm going to tell myself that this excange was missing sarcasm smilies. That's the only way it will even remotely make sense.
Sorry, there was a lot of sarcasm.

Plainly, just a sarcastic view of anykind of fortune, IF this does happen.

anyone listen to Grant and Mike this afternoon? Some caller stated that he has a group working on an arena proposal and he gave a website. I was in the car so I could not write it down. Anyone catch the website URL?

I think it was a pitch for the design company that will be presenting to the Maloofs or City Council.

It's apparently the website for the NEW arena in Kansas City...

Looks to me more like the "caller" was being cute.

no, he wasn't being cute. The caller actually mentioned that the website was for the Kansas City arena in the phone call. He said that he and some developers are putting together a plan for a new arena and that "ironically" (his word, not mine) they felt that the Kansas City arena was a good one to base their design on. He said they were planning a new arena and other additions that would "revitalize" Sacramento. He also said something about land, or having land... my reception was horrible, so I apoligize for the poor report. But, I did hear him reference the email address & say that it was the Kansas City arena. Whoever he was, he did sound sincere & acted like he thought their plan was a good option, but he didn't go into enough detail to really figure out if there is any substance to his plan.

Ah, that explains it then...but planning a new arena and having land available doesn't do a thing without financing. That's always been the fly in the ointment.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

That KC arena design looks like it was designed by IKEA. The post modernistic donut concept went out of style about 35 years ago.
Quite frankly, who cares at this point.

If somebody wants to design an arena that looks like a giant phallic symbol, I am all for it right now as long as it actually GETS DONE.

Something like this might work.
That's great. :D

Then go get the obvious corporate sponsor to defray costs and I can just hear the pregame openings now...

Welcome to the Great Viagra Penis in sunny Sacramento! :D

Hate to see the inevitable "fireworks" display from the top of the building after we win a championship....

Please, warn a person before saying something like that. I nearly choked on my food from laughing.
