Annual DMC trade thread

Dont shoot the messenger.

Bill Simmions who always throws out trades just threw out a Boston/Sac trade.

2016 unprotected Nets 1st.
2016 Boston Pick
2016 Dallas Pick
Sully (RFA at the end of the season)
Expiring David Lee contract.

Thoughts?
It depends if that Nets pick is #1 overall or not. If it's not, thats not nearly enough for Cousins and we'd rather trade him for proven players.

You assume that I think you guys know the game as well as I do.

I have absolutely no interest in joining a self-sustaining over emotional mob of whiny fans who don't get the big picture.
Well you championed Tyreke Evans as the next elite SG and was the ring leader of the IT is destroying this franchise clan. So yeah I question your knowledge on the game. In many ways you are the Demarcus Cousins of Kingsfans.com

For those of you who haven't watched, Evan Fournier has been playing amazing this season. I believe he can be a star in the making.

Nikola Vucevic is basically a more efficient Cuz who doesn't draw nearly as many fouls, but doesn't come with the baggage either. Their games are so similar, it's a bit weird. I think Vucevic is the better post player, but Cuz is obviously much more talented.

This game, he displayed multiple ways he can score. He took a lot of out-side shots, and drove in vs. NYK.

In this game, a lot of post play by him vs. the Blazers

But the thing is if they know they have the #1 and Simmonds is as good as everyone says why would they trade him?

I would do it if they somehow include Marcus Smart, that dude is a beast. Boston seems like the most likely Cousins trade partner, they have picks, a crowded backcourt, some interesting front court guyd like Olynk or Sullinger.
I would include rondo and Cousins give us back IT and whatever else for salary purposes along with all those picks.

C'mon man, that is a low blow.

I have been here long enough to remember when you made Portland out to be the model on how to build a championship team and Golden State was made out to be a silly gimmick with their small ball ways.

We all have our perspectives.

The Celtics really want Cousins..so that could be a huge reason.
But Simmons has insane hype and a crazy skillset, the thing is that's the type of deal you make if you think you can win it all like the Cavs have done. Unless the Celtics sign Durrant no point just bringing in Cousins.

Portland?

We must be a long way back on Portland. But yes, if Oden is healthy, yes, if Roy is healthy, add in Aldridge, everybody knows that was a contending build for a long time time.

And Golden State is a silly gimmick. People are over fascinated with their offense. But its really kind of junky. You can't replicate that unless you have an all time, maybe THE all time shooter running around taking really crap shots that only he can make. And of course the thing that people ignored, but that I certainly did not because it was a unique accomplishment, was the defense. Golden State isn't unbeatable because they score a lot. We've seen that one before. It always loses. But Golden State was also the #1 DEFENSIVE team. And I don't think we've seen a team that can score like that while also trotting out that level of defense. Put together with malice aforethought too -- they directly targeted Bogut and Iggy. Probably some luck to Draymond being this good or Klay turning out to be solid, but still.

The real problem with the league right now is they are learning the wrong lessons from Golden State and trying to emulate the wrong things. Draymond is a unique player, Curry even moreso. But you can certainly make targeted moves for defensive roleplayers to lock down the other end.

You would be amusing, but your lack of getting it is consistent.

Tyreke certainly could have been, but the shooting never came at all. Is what is, no real way to predict that. He had all the hard stuff, the really rare stuff, but could not develop the easy stuff. He has still proven to be a very useful player for New Orleans though, and is clearly miles better than anything we've had at SG since. The irony is that James Harden is currently the top SG, and he very much operates on the Tyreke to the hoop theory, except that he DID learn how to shoot.

And IT was a major problem. And he was a major problem for the Suns. I said from the start if his ego would let him be a 6th man he could be a great weapon. But it wouldn't. He could not fit except as a #1 option, and really still can't. He's chucking like mad in Boston. Yes, averaging 20pts. But shooting .418 doing so. Its just what he is. If you've got better weapons, there will always be tension.

Here is a list of players that you could trade cousins for, some of them would need another player included, and some we would need to include another player. (I may have left out a younger player or two).

Andre Drummond, DET
Anthony Davis, NO
Blake Griffin, LAC

Damian Lillard, POR
Draymond Green, GS
James Harden, HOU

Jimmy Butler, CHI
John Wall, WSH
Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN
Kawhi Leonard, SA
Kevin Durant, OKC

Kyle Lowry, TOR
LeBron James, CLE
Paul George, IND
Andrew Wiggins
Russell Westbrook, OKC
Stephen Curry, GS
Fixed it.

I'm against any trade involving DMC but ill play along.
why is it assumed that bostons pick will be number 1 the nets will have a better record than pally/LA so the odds are slim. Id take D'Angelo Russell and a top3 pick from LA over Bostons pick and i think Russell will be a star dude is lights out with a high IQ and elite court vision.

That's a excellent call, I think people prefered Boston cause it's more than one pick and some ok assets right now but what you say makes sense.

To answer your first question the Nets pick is pretty much the best available- they have the 3rd worst record, there is no way the 76ers will trade their own pick and the Lakers can't trade their pick because the 76ers hold it (top 3 protected).

To be fair, Evans has played very well when he's been healthy. Not many players (let alone SGs) out there are putting up 15 PPG/5.7 RPG/7.3 APG/1.3 SPG. In fact, the list is only three players: James Harden, Draymond Green, & Tyreke Evans. That's not bad company to be with at all.

He's a special talent. Always was. I'm glad he's doing well in New Orleans. He even seems to have improved his jumpshot somewhat this year (38% from three and 84% from the free throw line - both would be career highs). We'll see if he can do it for the rest of the season, but it's promising to say the least.

Just thinking a little bit and would like your guys opinion for this. This team is obviously going nowhere. Too inconsistent, with no defense. Yes, it's possible to get the 8 seed this year, but that's only the beneficiary of a surprisingly bad West. Hypothetically, let's say we trade Cousins to the Celtics for their three picks (Nets will be top 5), and David Lee's expiring contract. Maybe Sullinger too idk. With the Nets pick, we could draft Kris Dunn. With our own pick we could draft Buddy Hield. That could potentially be a very intriguing backcourt , and both are two way players. Perimeter defense has long been the Kings Achilles heel. We would also have two more first round draft picks with the Celtics pick and the Mavericks pick (more likely than not however the Kings would only get one of those picks). We could take an athletic small forward with this pick. Now the Kings have three young players who play defense in Dunn, Hield, and Stein. It's hard to predict busts, but that could be a solid start to a rebuild.
