Angela Tsai out...will Kayte take her place?

Word is that Angela Tsai's contract was NOT picked up although she was not one of the 12 mentioned. I'm thinking it would be fantastic for Kayte to take her place. What do you think?

If you agree, maybe we should all send emails to the Kings. We've already lost Koz. We do NOT want to lose our Kayte!!!

To whom it may concern:

As a loyal Kings fan, I am urging you to keep Kayte Christensen around. I would love to see her do the courtside reporting for the next season as I am very appreciative of her knowledge of basketball and her ability to talk with players and fans.

KEEP KAYTE!!!

Sincerely,

Thank God. I really don't get how Angela Tsai lasted as long as she did. I will say that I think she got a little bit better in her reporting as the season went on but it's too little too late. She doesn't belong on the sidelines of an NBA game, it doesn't suit her well.

I would love to see Kayte take her place!

She was good for the NBA, not for the Kings. She should go back to NBA TV and leave the minor leagues to more knowledgeable people about the Kings.

Angela was good for the NBA? In what way? ...

No, never mind. This isn't about Tsai, who thankfully has gone on to who cares where.

I started the thread to encourage people to speak up and see if they'll move Kayte Christensen to the courtside reporter slot. She knows the game, she knows how to talk to people, and she's generally well liked.

If we don't say something, I'm afraid we could end up with Rupe the Hoop II or something equally disturbing.

Like I said in the Koz thread, Kayte should end up with a network job eventually. She just needs more exposure.

Angela never appeared completely comfortable on the side line and her basketball knowledge seemed limited. Kayte for pre-game, game color commentary and post-game, with Henry Turner? And bring back Kara Lawson. Kara had the best grasp of the NBA game and was eloquent in presenting her views. We both loved her. SHE should be the sideline reporter.

Sometimes you can get an idea of what people think of something/someone, and how much they tend to like them, by checking Google and seeing what the suggested completion is when you start typing in the search bar.

If you type in "Angela Tsai" you get: nba, kings, facebook, auckland.
If you type in "Kayte Christensen" you get: blogs, myspace, photos, pics, pictures, hot, sexy, boyfriend, married.

I'll let you reach your own conclusions about who's better liked.

Kara has moved on to bigger and better things. Bringing her back as courtside reporter for the Kings would be a demotion.

haha, we should make a "Angela Tsai" appreciation thread.

Feel free. It might end up being the shortest "appreciation" thread - if you only count the actual "thank you" posts - to ever grace the pages of Kingsfans.com ...

;)

I could never figure out why Angela even entered the field of sports reporting. Not only did she constantly stumble and look uncomfortable on camera, but she rarely had a clue about what she was talking about. It seem like she had never seen a basketball game before the kings first preseason game.

They need to add Kayte to the broadcast team with Jerry & what's his name. More tech insite, and less stories about hockey, NY teams, walks & Jerry's $500 pair of pants.

I agree with that -- she could be the third peson in a three man team the way the networks use.

After hearing the initial news I sent the Kings another one of my nastygrams -- even in these dark times I like to space them out to no more than one every two months or so, but they all involve words like "idiots" & "foolish". But adding Kayte to the Grant/Jerry pair could be a nice save...or not. Grant is such a tool that you have no idea how he would respond to that. But Kayte knows her stuff (and might make Jerry look even more foolish), and unless I'm forgetting somebody who's already done this around the league we could actually make a little news for being the team that opened the door to a qualified female color person. Given Jerry's age, you could even call her the future color person, although she may not want to stick aroudn for that.

I think Jerry wouild be cool with it, but I have a feeling Grant would protest it behind doors. Grant has so much pull from being their mouthpiece for so long, it might make Kayte's career quite messy to get involved with that.

Sent email to "Kings@arcoarena.com" extoling the virutes of Jim Kozimor and pushing "KEEP KAYTE". Here is reply I got:

Thanks so much for your note about Jim Kozimor and Kayte Christensen. We truly appreciate hearing from loyal fans like you.

Like all Team Members who were involved, Jim is a good, talented person who made many valuable contributions to our company. We thank him sincerely and wish him the very best.

Kayte will be part of the Kings broadcast team next season, and we are currently working on what her exact role will be.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us, Rick and Donna.

Sincerely,

Alex Sigua
Sacramento Kings

So HOORAYY!!!! Kayte WILL be part of the broadcast team this coming year. I'm a happy surfer now. :D :D :D

Didnt Angela Tsai (or someone claiming to be her) come on the board and yell us for making fun of her once ?

Not yell no. And her complaint was largely valid -- upbraiding her for not being very good is one thing, but at the time there was a healthy dose of upbraiding her for being a woman and not knowing the game.

And interestingly enough, here's the response I got:

Thank goodness they're not using the old "canned paragraph response" system.

:)

And there were also those of us who upbraided her because she came here and whined about wanting to be judged on her merits, while she played the gender card saying she was a woman in an industry pretty much dominated by men.

I berated her because she was annoying, asked questions which were better suited to "E!" and brought nothing at all to the table as far as my enjoyment of the game went. And I'm glad she's gone...

Her complaint - which was posted with the exact same words on at least THREE DIFFERENT KINGS BOARDS - was nothing more than a blatant "Oh, please, kind sirs. Rescue me from the evil ones who aren't distracted by my looks and actually expect me to bring something of benefit to the table." Angela Tsai posting on one board would have been believable. Angela Tsai posting on multiple boards was clearly a calculated attempt to curry favor. Blech...

Kayte Christensen, on the other hand, is competent and knowledgeable. It's fun to listen to her takes on various aspects of the game because - gasp - she knows what's she's talking about. Huge difference.
