Yes but I've been following NBA since a long ago and I didn't knew it. I expected some people would know it here of course, this forum is almost 10 years old. But maybe there's a lot of people that haven't discovered yet, because the few months I've been here I've ususally seen links to ESPN or NBA when talking bout stats. That's why I posted it.

Be careful. Statistics can be grossly misleading. Statistics often lie or can be made to support whatever point of view you want, especially if you are selective enough.

EDIT: Maybe we should have links to websites that are referred to often by posters such as this one or the CBA one. Maybe that has proved problematical in the past for some reason, but I thought I'd suggest it.

That is a good website. Probably the best one for fantasy basketball purposes is www.basketballmonster.com. Love that website. And no worries drboiffard, here is one poster who is not going to lol at you or give you a hard time about just now stumbling across that website. We all have been late to a party before. ;)
 
I thought this was going to be about Hoopdata, which has been posted about here a few times but is still pretty new. In my book, it's more useful than 82games as it has sortable charts and more emphasis on broken down subsets of data rather than attempts at metadata (+/-, Win %, PER, etc.) which I often find to be dubious and overreaching.

I completly agree statistics are not that straightforward, not only he plays a lot of garbage time but also his PT is very few so the statistic is more biased.

But even that, I take it as a proof that he should play more. Having this +/- stat means that besides his deffense and turnovers his way of runing the team works quite well. Anyway I'm not surprised with that because +/- appears in NBA stats. And yes, it's most garbage time, but squeeze garbage time as this is not that easy.

What I'm most surprised is things like Tyreke's efficency seems better at SF than either at PG and SG.

I also found funny in Sergio's stats that when the team has had on court a Rodriguez-Evans-Casspi-Brockman-Thompson lineup or a Rodriguez-Evans-Greene-Brockman-Thompson lineup in the court, the team has won 100% of matches.

its funny that at sf evans could easily average a triple double, his per 48 at sf is ridiculous... 17/10/7 omg :eek: then sergio is 21/4/11 damn... thats how you know stats dont tell you the entire story but damn... that would be a squad. sergio/martin/evans/thompson/hawes... thats firepower...:p

Don't wanna get laughed at, again and in the same thread, I know 2k10 isn't real basketball. But that's exactly the starting lineup I use in the game since Martin returned .:D

thats what i do.... its funny because thompson is foul prone in the game too... i throw every other player in there at pf, greene, nocioni, brockman... we are really weak at pf...at least hawes can shoot, i use him just like vlade. he's like 15/10/5. its awesome...

Thanks that is the first time I have seen that site, and I must say it is more useful than 82games.com. One thing that I have suspect is that our win% is largely correlated to our 3pt%. If you look at eFG% for the other columns At Rim, <10 Feet, 10-15 Feet, 16-23 Feet there is no correlation between Win% and eFG%.

Our record when shooting >= 40% on threes is 11-5 this season and 5 -26 when shooting < 40%. If you look at our shooters everyone is shooting a lower % in January. (Except for Ime who as a rule should not be shooting 3's anyway.)

Veeerrry interesting. It appears to be the case for the Thunder (choosing a team near .500) as well, so it's likely to be a general rule rather than something specific to our team. It's not really surprising that there should be such a correlation, but that there is much less of a correlation between 2PT% and wins...that's what's interesting to me.

How long of quarters do you play with??:p I got mine set to 5 minute quarters and he is like a 10/10 guy.

i play 12 minute quarters... that way i can use everyone, each player gets his fare share of minutes. i use the suns playbook and just run until the players are tired, then the bench comes in and i run some more. its fun, they dont always win but thats life, it happens... buts its great when everything is clicking and i dont even have to shoot with sergio and he'll end up with like 5 points(all ft's) and 20 assists.

Nice, 12 minute quarters just take too long for me, but thats just personal preference, I play shorter quarters so i have just enough time to ball it up with Reke and then take on the next opponent.

i have tons of roommates and friends over all of the time, we play 12 minutes so that no one can complain. kobe cant go all out for 48 minutes, 20 minutes is easy for him, wade or lebron or any superstar. its makes things fair for everyone. you have to use your bench....
 
I only play on-line, so 5 minutes quarters. I really use a deep rotation, the only one I don't use very much is Beno, whom I use to give rest to the other guards when they're exhausted. I prefer playing only Sergio and Tyreke at PG, Beno is soooo slow. I also love to use Casspi and Greene together with one of them at SG. I also run as a fool, so I do changes at the moment because most times I have 3 minutes streaks of run'n'gun and everyone get exhausted and I have to change everybody.

If you look at all the teams with records similar to ours no one has a correlated win% and 3pt% except the Knicks. It seems like have more in common with a D'Antoni team then I first thought.

i have tons of roommates so, i dont have to play online. that and 5 minute quarters arent long enough for me.
