Best of the night: Chris, Katharine, & Taylor

Should go home - Kevin

"We got a HOT ONE TONIGHT!!!" :D

I didn't get to hear Chris, but Mandisa was mind-blowing... they should just hand her the competition right there. Katharine was hot as always, and Paris burned up. the stage.

OUT, KEVIN, OUT.
Unfortunately, I think Pickler may have to go as well. All 6 women are terrific...

My choice exactly.

Chris should thank Red Hot Chilli Peppers for covering Higher Ground :) If only Bucky knew that Stevie Ray Vaughn coverd Superstitions ;)

Wasn't it funny how even Stevie Wonder was struggling to say something positive about Kevin? Finally he just said that Kevin was 'interesting'.

Simon really surprised me on his reviews of Melissa

Top girls = Mandisa and Katherine ... BOTH belted it out !!!!
Okay girls = Paris (why this girl doesn't pick HIGH ENERGY SONGS)
Boring = Lisa (show signs of lack of confidence) & Kellie (holy cow)
Not impressed = Melissa

Top guys = Taylor (excellent job) & Chris (nailed it)
Okay guys = Elliott (can do so much more) & Bucky (did good this week)
So-So = Ace (all over the place)
No Energy = Kevin (very noticeable during the recap at the end of the show, had nothing)

I would agree with those rankings for last nights show.

I thought clearly Chris and Katherine were the best, I still like Kellie to be in the final 4. If not on her signing on her charm. This was just a bad week as far as theme for her. Themes that have a stronger country feel she will do very well at.

I think Bucky or Melissa will be gone.

You're right, Bucky's vocals is very much like SRV back in the day.. he should do an SRV cover but which one would be good for the show, I don't know?

Yeah, I thought Pickler did very bad too. Hopefully, she can step up her game next week. I didnt ssee this part, but what is next weeks challange?

Well, at least it wasn't Ace going home. I was stunned to see him in the bottom three.

I still haven't picked out my prediction for final two. There are a lot more people I think should make it to the final six or so than I can ever remember seeing before. All I do know is if Kevin doesn't leave pretty soon, I'm going to hack up my spleen. I think I'm going to have to do some major dialing next week - for anyone NOT named Kevin.

Yeah, Kevin NEEDS to go. I can't believe, Ace AND Lisa was in teh bottom 3. They are really good singers. Bucky and Kevin SHOULD be the next 2 leaving, they BETTER be.

Is kevin the kid who makes Clay Aiken look like a hells angels member? While flippin the channel I saw the Ford commercial and it achieved a whole new level of cheesy, for real.

Holy crap. The little weiner isn't in the bottom three?
Tell me about it. I thought he should have been. I was yelling at the TV saying "Kevin needs to go, please". And I was surprised he stayed.

Word.

I would like to see some kind of combination scoring system, with the home audience AND the judges involved. That might counteract the effects of that lame website.

Of course, Paula and Randy fed into all this lunacy by making such a fuss over him for who-knows-what reason.

Didn't surprise me that Ace and Lisa were in the Bottom 3

What did surprise me, like most of you, was Chicken Little, moving on

I didn't have Melissa going too far ....

Song's of the 50's is the next theme

This should be a COMPETITIVE WEEK ... wide-open

My prediction - anybody picking slow and boring music will be in the bottom 3, except Kevin .... don't know why - just because

I think what would really help would be for people to not be allowed to cast more than a few votes. That would prevent a bad contestant like Kevin from winning simplye due to popularity. That is especially true with the contestants who are still in high school, such as Kevin. Their school rallies around them and they have more of a core group to cast votes then. Of course American Idol would never limit votes though because that would mean less money for them on those lost text messages and phone calls.

I believe you are not allowed to vote more than 5 times for anyone, we were cut off trying to do this.

Songs by Stevie Wonder.

1. Ace Young - Do I Do (NOT GOOD)
2. Kellie Pickler - Blame it on the Sun (TERRIBLE)
3. Elliott Yamin - Knocks Me Off My Feet (AVERAGE)
4. Mandisa - Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing (GOOD BUT NOT GREAT)
5. Bucky Covington - Superstitious (HOORRRIBLLLE!!! )
6. Melissa McGhee - Lately ( )
7. Lisa Tucker - Signed, Sealed, Delivered (BORING AND UNINSPIRING)
8. Kevin Covais - Part-Time Lover (WTH!!!)
9. Katharine McPhee - Until You Come Back To Me (VERY GOOD!!!)
10. Taylor Hicks - Living For The City (ENTERTAINING)
11. Paris Bennett - All I Do (SHE'S BACK!! SANG VERY WELL)
12. Chris Daughtry - Higher Ground (DIFFERENT, VOCALLY GOOD)

I would like to throw my two cents in once again. I am a huge Stevie Wonder fan. His and Michael Jackson are the only box set collections that I own. With that said I hope Stevie never shows his face at AI again. His presence seem to frighten the contestants more than inspire them. Not his fault, but outside of Mandisa and Taylor, they all seemed way too inexperienced to handle the intracies of one Steveland Morris' music. Stevie Wonder is a musical genius lyrically, vocally, and musically. The music was slammin, but the performances left little to be desired.

With that said it is time for Chicken Little to exit the building.

MY ORIGINAL TOP THREE
1. Elliott
2. Paris
3. Mandisa

MY CURRENT TOP THREE AFTER WEEK #1
1. Kathrine
2. Paris
3. Mandisa

Melissa was so hot.....sigh.....

I'm voting for Chris all the way. He's the only guy who's album I would actually buy.

I'll politely disagree with your sentiments about Stevie Wonder and his presence being too disruptive. These kids are trying to enter an industry that is most definitely not for the thin-skinned. They should not be coddled and should be challenged to make sure they're up for the industry.

Normally I would agree with that, but did you see how they reacted? Yes, they want to get into the industry, but where were these "kids" before American Idol, flippin burgers at Jack in the Box. Only the adults in the group (besides Paris) were able to handle the moment and perform admirably.

This is not on Stevie by no means. But I found their reaction to the legend intresting, and their subsequent performances. Is their any correlation? Because that group is not as bad as they were on Tuesday.

I'll weigh in, this being my first ever AI post and the first ever season I was sucked into it completely. As much as I count the minutes until Kevin and Kellie are gone, I had a hard time wishing Kevin gone....I actually thought he performed relatively decent. This was the first week I was disappointed with Chris - I guess what he was going to sing the minute I knew they were going to have to cover Stevie Wonder. I can't imagine how Wonder would be too disruptive an artist for these contestants - people cover him all the time. I wish Chris could have done more interpretation with another song and not one associated with the Red Hot Chilli Pepper's rendition. I'll see what he comes up with for 50's night.

Not sure I've finalized a top 3 yet, but I'm close to a bottom 3 who need to be gone soon.

Again, I am not saying that Stevie was a disruption or even a disturber. It is not about him. Imagine a high school basketball player in the locker room before a big game and all of a sudden Michael Jordan walks into the room, and begins to advise you how to play your game. How would that player feel? I think Stevie Wonder had that affect upon those "KIDS". Remember we are talking about young people.

I really liked Melissa. Bucky should have been the one to go. But I find it hard to believe that Ace and Lisa were both in the bottom 3. Things like that make me believe in conspiracies. Not that I don't already, but darnit can't I hold on hope that things are actually fair!

But these are no longer 'burger-flippin' kids! That kind of life is over for them, at least for now. Of course they're intimidated by a legend such as Wonder, wouldn't we all be? But it's still sink or swim time, and they'll need guts of steel to get through it. The only criticism I have is that Wonder shouldn't of been brought out for the first episode where the contestants were performing on the big stage. They should of had the first week to get used to that and then bring out the legendary singer.

I guess I'm really out of the loop on this kind of stuff.

Intimidated by Stevie Wonder? I would think the ones who REALLY are serious about their music would be chomping at the bit to meet him and show how well they could perform one of his songs.

One other thing? I don't think the younger members of the group view Stevie Wonder the same way the producers and a lot of people older than 18-21 do. But maybe that's just my perception...

Regardless, I'm vowing right here to vote for anyone not named Kevin as many times as I can. I will press buttons (how come it's still called "dial" when there is no "dial" any longer?) until my fingers are worn to the bone. I will vote the maximum number of times for every contestant except Kevin. The kid needs to go home now...
