Here are my rankings for those left:

Melinda
Jordin
Blake
Lakisha
Phil
Chris

I honestly think the only real weak candidate left is Chris, who is just still too Justin Timberlake for my tastes. I think Phil is a long shot, and I think Lakisha has faded as the weeks have progressed. (I suspect she misses her daughter horribly - I know I would.)

That leaves Melinda, Jordin and Blake. I think any of them could be the next American Idol, but I suspect it will boil down to Melinda and Jordin, both of whom have wonderful futures in front of them.

Whoooooooooooooo! Order has been restored to the universe...
Buh-bye, Sanjaya!! Buh-bye!!!!
Darn! I rarely watch "American Idol", but I was hoping that Sanjaya would win it all, if only to make a big joke out of it and also because of my anarchist tendencies. Perhaps we need the Supreme Court Justices to overturn this decision? :)

Are you kidding? You wanted Sanjaya to win it all????? If Sanjaya would have won it all, I would never watch idol again.

I just don't understand this way of thinking... If you don't like something, you don't have to watch, right? Why root for it to be ruined for the people who do enjoy it?

...As to wanting to see Sanjaya get a recording contract, why? To prove anybody can get one? Big whoop.
If even William Hung can make an album --- actually, he recorded FOUR albums! --- then Sanjaya would certainly make one!

I predict that Sanjaya's next TV gig, with a possible exception to a Jay Leno appearance, might be on "The Surreal Life". :)

Here's my ranking:

1. Melinda
2. Jordin
3. Blake
4. Lakisha
5. Phil
6. Chris

I completely agree about Lakisha, as far as fading. Even though I liked "Jesus Take the Wheel" much more than the judges did. I do think that this week may have been a wake up call for Lakisha and in my view she will be in the Top Four.

I was hoping Sanjaya would last another 2 weeks or so. I don't really like AI, I watch because I tivo for my wife and the dvr is in my office. Now that bowling season is over maybe I can get out of it. I'd love a break until the final week or two.

Hall of Famer
Rankings as of now.

1: Jordin (The personality carries her over Melinda)
2: Melinda (The best singer, still)
3: Blake (Fading...Fading...Blake it up again!)
4: Phil (Rising, but he needs a Phil type of genre to stay alive)
5: Lakisha (Fading faster than Blake...Can be switched with Phil, but it's personal taste here)
6: Chris (Nasally and boring)

Kingsfans.com American Idol Power Rankings (after Week 5)
1. Melinda Doolittle (2) - 17

2. Jordin Sparks (1) - 16
3. Blake Lewis - 12

4. Lakisha Jones - 8
5. Phil Stacey - 7

7. Chris Richardson - 3

I think based on all of our sentements, Chris should be the next to go.

One WORD........Jordin!!!

Also, is it just me or are all the remaining contestants better than last years winner Taylor Hicks??

Based on tonight, here's how I rank them:

1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. Phil, Blake
5. Chris
6. LaKisha - Primarily because her song selection, IMHO, was horrible.

You'll Never Walk Alone has been one of my favorite songs for a very long time. Of all the people I've heard sing it over the years, I think Jordin's version is right up there with my all-time favorite, Elvis.

First let me commend American Idol and all of the sponsors for creating an opportunity such as this to raise awareness and help a worldwide cause. For the first time since the first season of American Idol I have called in to vote. Now, on to the performances…

An interesting week. I actually liked most of the song choices, but the performances could have been better to say the least. For the night:

1. Jordin I think Randy exaggerated a tad bit, but it was still the best of the night
2. Phil  I don’t know what or how it happened, but the guy has finally found his spot in this competition
3. Melinda Eh, it was just ok
4. Blake I almost put him lower. One of my all time favorite songs and I just don’t think anyone could do it justice.
5. Chris It was actually pretty good. I’m thinking I should have moved him up a spot
6. LaKisha She should have chosen a different song.

Hall of Famer
Chris --- (B) --- He did good for himself tonight...Almost even better than Blake, but then I think back to his past performances which haven't been overly great and I think this may be near his ceiling.

Melinda --- (B) --- More or less the same from Melinda...We all know she's good, but she didn't blow me away with this one.

Blake --- (B- / C+) --- He needs to return to the old Blake...This new withheld Blake just isn't as good, and isn't as entertaining...

Lakisha --- (C-) --- I think she's toast...Talented, but faded and faded fast.

Phil --- (B+) --- If Phil can e a country singer the rest of the competition, he has a real shot at being the last guy standing. He has found his niche, and I am happy because Ive been a Phil fan since day 1.

Jordin --- (A++) --- Better every week...By far my number one choice.

This weeks rankings...

1: Jordin (By far)
2: Melinda (Still very very good)
3: Phil (Love the new and improved Phil)
4: Chris (He needs to keep stepping it up...Good job)
5: Blake (He's taking himself right out of the competition...Blakeize the songs again, bro!)
6: Lakisha (Sorry Lakisha, it's been a good ride)

Bottom 2: Blake and Lakisha

Going Home: Lakisha

One of my favorite songs since I was a kid. Jordin sang it beautifully.

I, too, would like to commend AI and all the sponsors for doing this.

I voted alot last night and not all my votes went to Melinda. :p Jordin was unbelievable last night. Very nice performance.

Bottom 3 - Lakisha, Blake and Chris

Going home - Chris

Okay, that was scary... :p

When they got down to Chris and Jordin, I was a little concerned. Then, when he said Chris was safe I was screaming at the TV...

I should have known they wouldn't send someone home on such a special night. It does mean two people go home next week, though, so I'm going to be voting as much as I possibly can.

^^ U mean Chris? ;)

I think Ellen had the line of the night: " This is ridiculous, we can do something" What an amazing, moving night. There was no way I could watch the show tonight and not donate.

I'm not totally in favor of this not voting someone off and then voting two people off next week though =/

When it got down to Jordin and Chris I said "If Jordin gets voted off, there is no way I'm watching this show anymore."

When he said Chris was safe, my reaction was "WHAT!!!!" (Screamed)

Whew...That was a big shock!

Jon Bon Jovi night!

I'm actually pretty psyched! This might finally be the night where Blake returns back to his original (And much better) form!

Maybe it is just me, but it seems that we may be losing steam or interest in this group of singers. let's see if we can get a good sample of us (5 or more) to put a ranking down before the end of the day.

1. Melinda
2. Jordin
3. Blake
4. Phil
5. Lakisha
6. Chris
