from what i seen alot of people have different views on number #4.. ok who you would you take #23 and #31?

i think #23 we can be good if we take sam young the best senior in the draft can help on both ends of the floor nasty hops too

and #31 jeff penergraph hes a consistent post player very active on the boards loves to battle under the rim

Everybody wants to trade our picks to get Rubio, but it's much more likely that Petrie sits pat (like he's done every single draft), and so we will still hold these picks.

The way Teague is reportedly dropping, you might be able to get him at #23. Now, maybe his baggage is so great he's not worth getting at all, but maybe it isn't. IMO, Teague is a top 5 talent in this draft.

Yep, there are a bundle of guys who I'm intrigued with at 23 (and 31 for that matter). At 23, Flynn (will probably go in the lottery though), Collison, Maynor, Teague (would be a steal this late), Williams, DaJuan Summers (think he could be a good player), possibly Daye (haven't seen alot of him).

I know people are down on this draft but depth-wise, I'd say it's pretty decent.

I agree with Dime Dropper that this is a relatively deep draft, not so much in the talent sense (because this isn't like last year), but more in the sense that after the initial three guys there's a big dropoff, but then there's not a huge difference, in my mind, between #4 and #30. I see the #23 and the #31 picks as more of a chance to be opportunisitic depending on who's there. BJ Mullens could fall, Teague could fall, Collison doesn't look too high, I think Taj Gibson is underrated... I think the #23 and #31 really just depend on who's there. Josh Heytvelt is another guy who I think is probably underrated. He's the second coming of Brad Miller, only more athletic, and will probably be around at #31.

what baggage does he come with??

I think Teague was seen as being at least partly responsible for Wake's collapse, and didn't have a reputation for being a great teammate. He looked pretty disinterested at the end of the season, and just having watched him play a lot, he would occasionally yell at his teammates for really stupid reasons.

I personally think Dino Gaudio is a horrible coach and Teague was just beyond frustrated, but Teague still should have fought through whatever frustration he had. Instead he just looked done at the end of the season.

Fact remains that when Teague was the PG Wake was almost unstoppable. When Ishmael Smith came back and they moved Teague to SG their season went downhill.

Later Picks

I would not include anything more that the #31 pick to move up for Rubio. I am a huge fan from the limited amount of footage I have seen, but this team needs to add a much talent as it can. I agree that this draft is short on superstars, but I think there a a great deal of role players available. If we grab a PG with the #4 pick, then I say we grab the best avaialble big at #23, unless another PG slips and we have a shot (i.e. Hoilday, Teague, Flynn or Maynor) at shoring up the backcourt for years to come. It is so hard to predict this year. Who knows who will still be there or who we had picked earlier in the draft. What I do believe is that if we keep these three picks, we will have at least 2 role players for next years team.

what baggage does he come with??

When I watched his games, there were always comments, innuendos, about his coachability, or lack thereof. Also, there were comments about his unwillingness to take over games. He "sounds like" a problem-child. Of course, there were no specifics, just amibiguities. The recent report about him dropping after teams looking into him is another indication that maybe his attitude isn't what it should be. His play was somewhat inconsistent, and I'm wondering if that inconsistent play reflected his inconsistent mood...

Depending on what we do at #4, I would be willing to take a flyer on Teague at 23. Another player that I would consider is Sam Young. He's a very good defender and just a solid all around charactor guy. He can score in a variety of ways. But most of all I think we really need to think defense first as much as we can at 23 and 31. Terrance Williams is another guy thats a good defender that ought to be considered.
