Padres would’ve had the bottom of their order this time. You’re just trying to get over to the next one when you’re down 1. The chances of a multiple run big inning vs their closer is low. The computer should say that. Get the runner to third with one out. Bochy would’ve done that and Bochy would’ve won.

“The computer” doesn’t necessarily have as good as postseason success as “the gut”. This was a postseason style game. Giants played it like another game in my view.

In the month of September the Giants played 12 games against complete non-contenders and went 12-0. The Dodgers played 12 games against complete non-contenders and went 9-3, but somehow teams aren't playing hard against the Dodgers? It's just a dumb complaint.

That’s extremely generous to call the Padres contenders. They’ve been free falling for a couple months at this point. They’re 12-33 since early August. I guess “contender” by technicality as they hadn’t officially been eliminated, but they’ve been dead in the water for at least a month.

Even better fun fact? They’re 4 for their last 21. All four wins have been against the Giants. Lma
