According to John Ireland the deal w/ Anaheim is done, will be announced after season

Supposedly that's what he said on LA radio today after speaking with a high ranking kings official. He also said the team actually MADE money this year. This is all from a post on another website though and I can give a link, but still. He might not be right but he has no reason to lie, and the Lakers actually have reason to let this be known to make the Maloofs look worse when they move so that they take less of their fans(which wont be much but still).

Yeah, I listened to that blurb. FWIW, Mason and Ireland are good friends with the Maloofs and have them on a lot. It's quite possible that the high ranking official is Gavin or Joe.

That's funny because I believe Ireland was making fun of Joe and Gavin/kind of ripping them in that ESPN LA thing but it could've been another guy. IIRC it was him though. Maloofs totally are screwing everyone over and treating this region like trash. I have no respect for them anymore.

On the bright side, according to Tim Kawakami(bay area newswriter) Larry Ellison wants to buy the Hornets and move them to San Jose. Also, if the Kings were for sale supposedly he would've bought them.

Maybe our Kings will become the Anaheim Geese or something, then when the Hornets move to San Jose he can change their name to Kings.

I know. Not even that funny. ;(

Ellison already attempted to buy the team, and was rebuffed by the NBA. It's probably not going to happen, at least not until the new CBA is settled.

Yeah most likely after the CBA, but Ellison is a determined guy. I would love to have a team in San Jose. I feel guilty for saying this but I want the Hornets to replace the likely loss of the Kings.

Well, maybe people should have been concerned about losing the kings prior to the last month. I remember making threads about the team leaving months ago, and they were locked and I was told not to talk about it because it was a baseless rumor and I shouldn't incite dissention within the fanbase. That is just the sort of head-in-the-sand mentality that is why this team isn't in a new building locked in a long term lease as we speak.

Can't say Ireland is always 100%, but he did seem to have a lot of info last week when they talked about the Kings moving for almost an hour. He gave a lot of specifics about the Honda Center lease offer to the Kings and other stuff. So he could be right. But I don't think the Maloofs would be happy if Ireland just yapped his mouth off about this. Though everyone thinks they are gone, they don't want to look like they bailed before the season even ends.

Yah I had a feeling it was a done deal when the Maloofs didn't have anything to say about the ICON thing.

I'm done.. I will have my parting words for the next month or so (or until I am banned here) before I retire as a Kings fan but mentally I am done. Can't watch anymore games, can't listen, can't deal with it anymore. My streak of watching/listening to every game will officially end tomorrow.. Sad days :(

Wondering how high my streak got.. I have been listening or watching every game for more than 10 years now.. Before that I had a fine streak going too, until I briefly moved to Reno. I know I have to be approaching 1000 games in a row watched or listened to in one form or another.

I can't believe this. I always imagined myself watching the Kings as I get older, waiting for that one day that we get sweet revenge on the Lakers. Now I'll never get to see that. The good guys lost the battle and the war this time. It may be a business to the Maloofs, but to many of us its our lives and I can't believe that they can turn their backs on the fans that sold out 17 out of the last 26 seasons. The fact that they are moving to Anaheim into a arena that is only a few years newer than Arco just throws salt in the wound. My parents used to fight alot when I was younger, a sadly common story. It tore me apart to see them fighting, and the only thing that could take my mind off of that was the next Kings game coming on tv... It was like my own brand of calming therapy, and it still is, in the sense that I use the Kings to escape the stress of life, if only for a few hours out of my day. I'm sure many of you can relate. We all love this team, but in this terrible world sometimes money is stronger than love.

That's part of the schtick between Ireland and his co-host, Steve Mason. They look for hot topics that they don't agree on and then use that as the basis for their show. If one is defending the Maloofs then the other will give a counter argument and that may be where they made anti Maloof comments.

2 years ago, Ireland talked to someone connected with the Kings who said that the team wouldn't be long for Sacramento so they had a debate on what would be a better landing spot between Anaheim or Kansas City. Since that time, they've had Joe or Gavin on the show a few times. If they've been stabbing them behind the back then that's low class but I can think of at least 3 different times that the one or both of the brothers have been on their show.

I can't wait for this to happen all ready. So we can all move on.
I am just so glad you have decided to give up already and show the team we have to the exit door. Why don't you do something beneficial instead of laying down like a beaten dog?

I'm sorry I'm not as delusional as you are bruh. I can't help you if you want to string on what little life is left, you can go ahead and do that. Don't go ahead and be attacking me for wanting something different than you.
