Hall of Famer
Maybe ATL would be interested. Maybe not. But Josh Smith is on the trade block, and ATL is 12M over the cap and looking for cap space, although not strict salary dumps.
Atl sends Josh Smith
Sac sends Thornton + JT
We get a 26 yr old stretch pf, who's a decent shooter(needs to stop jacking 3's), but excels on the defensive and and blocking shots. Under contract for next season as well.
Atl gets a young scorer in MT, who could replace Crawford who they loves, and lost to Por, and get JT to fill in a pf until deciding to keep him or not. If they let him walk, they obviously keep MT, but 5M comes off the cap since they would owe Smith 13M next season.
Still leaves us money to get a FA sf, and use our pick.
Don't know if I'd do it. I'd consider it. Just brainstorming during the crazy season. I do think Smith would pair pretty well with Cuz, and wouldn't be jacking up too many jumpers since he won't be a focal point. But defensively and on the glass that could work very well, and given Smart likes smaller players and small lineups, he might actually play Smith/Cuz together.
