Mister Slim Says: Well, the good news is that the Kings keep inventing new ways to blow double-digit leads. Which, you know, keeps things fresh. Kings Fans continue to insist that Doug Christie should tweak his lineup and rotations to maximize his talent, and they're probably right, but they also continue to ignore that he's not going to do that because he has not been bestowed with the job security to have the confidence of knowing that his boss will have his back if he makes such a move. It doesn't really matter how much sense a move appears to make, I said this before and I'll stand behind it: if a first-year, interim head coach benches a former All-Star and it doesn't work, his career is over. It's unfair to ask that of Christie without the vocal, unequivocal support of his front office, and he doesn't appear to have that
Up next are the reigning Champion Boston Celtics. On the one hand, they are on the second night of a back-to-back. On the other hand, they didn't play any of their important players major minutes last night, and they're going to be highly motivated to avenge their loss from two months ago. They may be without reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, but they will probably get back Kristaps Porzingis, who missed last night's game due to an undisclosed illness. Domantas Sabonis had a career-high 28 rebounds in the first game, so it's going to take a total team effort to keep Boston off the glass tonight. Also, Boston had their second-worst 3-point shooting performance of the season that night, and it's going to be a tough call to expect that to happen twice.
I've said before that, defeatist attitude notwithstanding, it's already too late for the Kings to tank, so they might as well look at this as another opportunity to improve upon the things they've been doing wrong, and hope to get back on the right track in time for the play-in.
